Phulpur, November 13: Rahul Gandhi will kickstart on Monday the Congress campaign in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, the run up to which is expected to witness a growing confrontation with BSP supremo and Chief Minister Mayawati.

With the party is accusing Mayawati of the “misgovernance,” Gandhi, who will be the face of the party in the state, is expected to call for a vote for change in line with the Congress punchline for the polls–“utho, jaago, badlo” (rise, awaken and change)–at a rally at Phulpur, about 30 kms from Allahabad.

Ramdev threatens campaign on Lokpal issues

Ghazipur, November 13: Yoga Guru Ramdev on Sunday threatened to launch a massive campaign from January if the central government failed to take concrete steps on Lokpal Bill, black money and corruption in the winter session of Parliament.

Ramdev said the central government should bring a strong Lokpal Bill besides taking initiatives to check price rise and bring back black money stashed in foreign banks.

Change of date for ‘Islamic Art and Culture’ seminar

Hyderabad, November 13: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad in collaboration with Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi and Muslim Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO), Hyderabad was going to organize a 3-day international seminar from 25 to 27 November on ‘Islamic Art and Culture’ in Hyderabad. Mr. Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Hon’ble Vice-President of India was to participate in the seminar as chief guest.

Due to change in Mohammed Hamid Ansari’s previously scheduled engagements the date for seminar is also going to be changed.

Youth commits suicide

Hyderabad, November 13: 27 year old Mohammad Baber committed suicide at Shamsabad. According to RGI police Mohammad Baber resident of Moin Mohalla set himself ablaze in drunken state. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries the day before. Shamsabad RGI police has registered a case and handed over the body to the relatives after postmortem.

Son slits father’s throat

Hyderabad, November 13: In an incident occurred under Manchal police station limits a son slit his father’s throat. It is said that Pardaya slit his 70 year old father Nandaya’s throat and fled from the scene.

Police told that earlier Pardaya had also killed his daughter. He was arrested by the police and was sent to jail. Following his release from jail he had been living with his father.

Female driver storms crowded Saudi beach

Jeddah, November 13: A Saudi woman defying a ban on driving cars by females in the conservative Moslem Gulf Kingdom stormed a crowded beach at high speed, causing panic among the visitors and prompting many of them to flee.

The woman, who was accompanied by several girls, veered off the road with her Toyota land cruiser four-wheel vehicle and entered the long sandy “Half-Moon” beach in the eastern province.

Driver rapes girl and takes her home

Jeddah, November 13: A Bangladeshi private bus driver raped a Saudi university student and took her home after she lied to him that she would not tell her family. Once he dropped her, she rushed inside and informed her father.

The 31-year-old man had agreed to take the 23-year-old girl and her friends to a restaurant before driving them back home.

“After eating, he took them home and then drove that girl to a deserted area, where he raped her,” Alsaudi Arabic language newspaper said in a report from the western town of Makkah.

One officer insufficient for investigating against Jagan: TDP

Hyderabad, November 13: TDP expressed the view that for investigating the assets and irregularities of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy one CBI officer Mr. Lakshminarayana is not sufficient. Demand to enhance hostel charges of Degree students

Hyderabad, November 13: A.P. State Backward Classes Welfare Association demanded for the enhancement of hostel mess charges for the students of degree classes. There are 627 BC girls’ hostels, 552 SC hostels and 242 tribal hostels.

Only Rs. 520 per month are being paid to the students of degree classes which are insufficient to meet hostel expenses.

Resignations of two dissident TDP MLA’s accepted

Hyderabad, November 13: Mr. N. Manohar, Speaker of A.P. Assembly accepted the resignations of two dissident MLA’s of TDP, namely Dr. Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy. Dr. Janardhan Reddy had approached the A.P. High Court against the indecision on his resignation. Before the court orders could reach, the speaker accepted his resignation. Center likely to declare its stand on T-state next month

NRI woman murdered by her husband in Delhi

New Delhi, November 13: A business development manager working with a travel agency in Delhi has been arrested for killing his NRI wife at his south Delhi residence.

The accused, 31-year-old Sumit Handa, reportedly had strained relations with his wife Niranjani, who was 27 years old. After murdering her at his residence on October 29, he concealed her body in a plastic bag and took it to a deserted area in Haryana, where he burned it.

After returning from Haryana, Sumit lodged a police complaint claiming his wife was missing.

Probe ordered into snags in thermal power plants after maintenance works in MP

Bhopal, November 13 (Pervez Bari): An enquiry has been ordered into technical snags being witnessed in thermal power plants of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company despite maintenance works. For this, a two-member committee has been constituted. The committee will submit its reports within 15 days.

After assuming charge, CMD of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd. Mr. Vijendra Nanavati has ordered for constitution of this two-member committee for undertaking enquiry. The committee comprises Superintending Engineers Mr. M. K. Majumdar and Mr. Prakash Chaturvedi.

MP stands among leading states in non-conventional tusser cultivation

Bhopal, November 13 (Pervez Bari): Within just one year of entering into the field of non-conventional tusser production, Madhya Pradesh stands among leading states in the sector like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.

In the first year 2010-11 itself, beneficiaries produced 192 lakh tusser cocoon against the target of 150 lakh. Against the target of tusser cultivation in 5000 hectares of forest area, it was cultivated in 9,600 hectares. During the period, 5,600 producers were benefited by tusser cultivation.
