CBI to give 2G case file to Swamy in two days

New Delhi, November 15: The CBI on Tuesday told a Delhi court that it would provide in two days a copy of a file relating to 2G spectrum allocation to Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy who alleged the document would prove the “complicity” of then Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the scam.

CBI prosecutor AK Singh told Special CBI Judge OP Saini that the agency will give the copy of the file to Swamy by Thursday.

The Janata Party chief today appeared before the court to allege that despite a judicial order on the issue the probe agency has not given him the documents so far.

Advani faces slogan shouting crowds in Amritsar

Amritsar, November 15: BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on Tuesday faced hostile crowds of workers of some Akali Dal factions during his visit to the Golden Temple when he was greeted by slogans.

In the morning, when Advani entered the periphery of the Golden Temple to pay obeisance, he was greeted with slogans of Khalistan raised by activists associated with former MP Simranjit Singh Mann.

Men of the SGPC task force escorted Advani into the sanctum sanctorum, while Police Commissioner R P Mittal was present to oversee the security.

Two Maoists killed in West Bengal

Kolkata, November 15: Two Maoists were killed in a gunfight with the security forces in West Bengal’s Purulia district, police said Tuesday.

‘We recovered bodies of two Maoist guerrillas today (Tuesday) morning. They were killed in a gunfight between the Maoists and joint forces Monday night,’ Superintendent of Police Sunil Choudhury told IANS.

A fierce gunfight took place in the Balrampur area of Purulia district, over 300 km from here, Monday night.

‘While conducting a search operation after the gunfight ended, we recovered the bodies,’ Choudhury said.

Hyderabad, November 15: Indian students opting for higher education in the United States dropped by one per cent compared to previous year, but still they represent 14 per cent of foreign students, according to the Open Doors report, which is published annually by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The report was released in Washington on Monday.

Chitrangda sues Arjun Rampal for harassment

Mumbai, November 15: Sudhir Mishra’s new film has distinct echoes of 2004 Priyanka Chopra-starrer Aitraaz, in which Chopra played an ambitious woman in the corporate world. In Mishra’s film, Chitrangda Singh plays a woman who gets carried away by her ambitions and ends up accusing the man she loves (played by Arjun Rampal) of sexual harassment.

Said Mishra, “I haven’t seen Aitraaz. But a woman who loses her sense of self in a corporate set-up to pursue her ambitions can be very dangerous.”

In the director’s words, Singh plays a ‘slut’ in the film.

Kareena changes her plans due to Ranbir

Mumbai, November 15: It appears that Kareena Kapoor did a rethink after realising that her cousin Ranbir Kapoor had already done it!

Initially it was announced that Bebo would pay tribute to her grand uncle Shammi Kapoor by performing to his tracks at an awards event as reported ‘Cousins think alike’.

Coach of special train gutted in fire, none injured

Thousands of rail passengers were affected on Monday after a technical snag at Beach station brought EMU movement to a standstill for nearly half-an-hour during the peak hour this morning.

Senior railway sources admitted to technical snag affecting movement for 25 minutes from 9.20am.

This particularly hit women passengers, particularly staff at the State Secretariat, as the EMUs stopped midway between Park and Fort Railway stations. The women had to be helped by their male colleagues to move out of the train midway.

The tragic death of 26-year-old Shaheed Bava who died after being beaten up by a group of alleged Islamic fundamentalists has shocked and shamed Kerala.

Bava was attacked on Wednesday in Mukkam for visiting a woman with whom he allegedly had an illicit relationship.

Noted Malayalam writer and social activist M.N. Karassery says no one has the right to interfere with the personal freedom of others.

“As a resident of Mukkam, I’m ashamed today. No one has the right to kill others, neither politicians, nor religious fundamentalists. It was a barbaric act,” he fumes.

Hyderabad, November 15: Justice Madan Bhimarao Lokur was on Tuesday sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court here.

Justice Lokur was administered the oath of the office by Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in a ceremony attended by the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, his deputy Damodar Rajnarasimha, besides some ministers and legislators. Hyderabad, November 15: In an incident occurred at Tolichowki Alhasnat colony a watchman died of electrocution. Brother commits suicide on the death of sister

Hyderabad, November 15: 22 year old Azamuddin suffering from mental trauma after the death of his sister hanged himself to death. The incident occurred under Chilkalguda police station limits.

According to police sources Azamuddin was the resident of Warisguda and a businessman by occupation. Distraught by his sister’s death, who died one month ago, Azamuddin resorted to the extreme step and committed suicide.

Father commits suicide on birth of girl child

Hyderabad, November 15: A man who was desperate to have a son committed suicide when his wife gave birth to a girl child. This heartburning incident occurred under Medchel police station limits.

According to police sources 28 year old M Venkatesh who was a labour by occupation consumed poison last night in his house. Later he was rushed to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Venkatesh’s wife gave birth to a baby girl 25 days ago and he wanted a boy.

Jeddah, November 15: Two naughty Syrian boys in Saudi Arabia thought of enjoying touching women without being prosecuted in the conservative Muslim Gulf Kingdom, so they donned traditional Arabian female gowns and walked into a crowded shopping mall. 10-year-old girl gives birth

Mexico City, November 15: A Mexican girl has become a mother at the age of just 10.

The youngster arrived at a hospital in the city of Puebla, suffering from life-threatening complications in her 31-week pregnancy, including seizures.

She gave birth by C-section to a boy weighing 3.3 lb at the Women’s Hospital in the city, 60 miles south-east of Mexico City.

Her premature son is now said to be in intensive care following a bout of pneumonia, but officials said his young mother visits the baby every day to breastfeed.

HC orders CBI probe into Naidus wealth

50 held for obscene acts in resort
