Mahbubnagar, November 16: Three persons were killed and four others sustained injuries when a car hit an auto-rickshaw near a residential school at Chityal in Vanaparthy mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as Rani (30), Suryanayak (27) and a three-year old girl Soujanya. In the incident, both Rani and Suryanayak, who hailed from Samireddypalli Tanda in Peddamandadi mandal, died on the spot and Soujanya died while undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Vanaparthy.

TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu and 13 other senior TDP leaders met at former’s residence to reviewing the fall out of the AP High Court direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a preliminary probe into his assets. While two youth were held at Bhoj Reddy Engineering College at IS Sadan in Saidabad, two others were arrested near Chandana Brothers bus stand at Dilsukhnagar. Three more youth were held at Sree Vani College in Malakpet. They have been identified as Md Muneer Ali, Md Riyan, Ali, P Sai Charan, R Shiva Kumar, Md Salma, Syed Mohammed, and Md Hameed, all aged between 17-19 years and residents of Old City.
Hyderabad, November 16: The Dabeerpura Police on Wednesday arrested 10 alleged gamblers who were playing card, a game of chance in common gaming house.
Those arrested have been identified as Imtiyaz Ali Khan, Md Aziz, Md Ahmed, Md Akbar, Feroz Khan, Mohd Amjad, Md Zaheer, Md Zaffer, Ishaq Khan and Feroz Khan. The police also seized 104 playing cards and net cash of Rs 7, 850 from their possession.
According to police, the main accused 52-year-old Imtiyaz Ali Khan was running a gaming house at New Road in Chanchalguda.

New Delhi, November 16:All India Congress Committee official spokesman Abhishek Singhvi on Wednesday stated that the Telangana state issue should not be linked to the division of Uttar Pradesh proposed by Chief Minister Mayawati.
Talking to media persons, Abhishek Singhvi described the move of Mayawati as political gimmick to divert the attention of people with an eye on the upcoming elections. He said the people of Uttar Pradesh would not believe the tricks of Mayawati.

New Delhi, November 16: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Tihar jail authority to furnish information on the total number of undertrials lodged there following a PIL seeking framing of a policy to grant bail to prisoners facing trial for petty offences as the prison is over-crowded.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw directed the jail authority to file the affidavit by December 20, specifying the total number of undertrials lodged in jail and the type of cases in which they have been booked.
New Delhi, November 16: Accusing Narendra Modi of shielding criminals and victimising whistleblowers, CPI(M) on Wednesday alleged that the Centre was indirectly supporting the BJP government in Gujarat by maintaining a “tacit silence” and not framing a concrete witness protection act.
“It is evident Modi is trying to shield the perpetrators and victimise the whistleblowers. The Centre is indirectly supporting this by maintaining a tacit silence and dilly dallying over framing of a concrete witness protection act,” CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat said at a function here.
Lucknow, November 16: The Congress today said the filing of an FIR against its leaders in connection with a scuffle with Samajwadi Party youth wing supporters at Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Uttar Pradesh was an act of political vendetta.
Talking to reporters here, Congress Legislature Party Leader in the UP Assembly Pramod Tewari, who is also named in the FIR, defended the party activists’ action of forcibly stopping SP protesters at the Gandhi’s rally in Phulpur.
New Delhi, November 16: In a politically significant development, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Sudheendra Kulkarni, advisor to LK Advani, and four other accused in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam that had rocked Parliament ahead of a trust vote.
The court granted bail to all accused after Delhi Police said that it will not oppose their bail applications.
In its order, the court directed the accused to surrender their passports and furnish a surety bond of Rs 2 lakhs.
Vijayawada, November 16: A SpiceJet aircraft with 35 passengers on board suffered a bird hit today ahead of its landing at the Gannavaram airport here.
The incident took place around 9 AM when the flight was about to touch down and suddenly a bird hit the right wing of the aircraft, damaging it slightly, airport officials said.
However, the pilot made a safe landing and none of the passengers were hurt, they said.
Due to the bird hit, the return flight to Hyderabad was cancelled, officials added.

New Delhi, November 16: The government Wednesday unveiled its legislative agenda for the winter session of parliament that includes the Lokpal Bill and Whistle Blower Protection Bill.
Talking to mediapersons, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said the session, starting Nov 22, will have 21 sittings.
He also said the government is determined to introduce the Lokpal Bill, which aims to tackle corruption in high places.
New Delhi, November 16: Politics over its critical reports on scams echoed in the 150th anniversary celebrations of the CAG on Wednesday when BJP leader and PAC Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi praised Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for defending both the CAG and the PAC when they came under attack.
“At a time when democratic institutions are under attack and several scams have come to light, it is heartening that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has come out in support of the institutions,” he said.
Syria, November 16: According to Local Coordination Committees, an activist network, the assailants fired rockets and machine guns at Air Force intelligence base in Harasta district from three directions early on Monday.
Parts of the military complex were reported to have been destroyed, but there was no immediate word on any casualties.
It was the first attack on a major government facility in Syria since the beginning of the unrest.
Gurgaon, November 16: Ten people were killed and six injured when a mini-truck in which they were travelling on the Delhi-Jaipur highway rammed into a wrongly parked truck in Haryana’s Gurgaon district early Wednesday, police said.
While eight of the victims died on the accident spot near Kherki Daula toll plaza, two died on way to hospital, a police official said. All victims were aged 30-40 years.
The accident caused a traffic jam on the busy national highway No.8 (NH 8).
Mumbai, November 16: Seven of the nine accused arrested in the 2006 Malegaon blasts, which left 37 people dead, walked out of jail Wednesday after posting bail bonds of Rs.50,000 each, a social organisation’s official said.
They were granted bail Nov 5 by Special Judge Y.D. Shinde of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court after the National Investigation Agency did not oppose their bail applications.
The court granted them bail against bonds of Rs.50,000 each.
