Kabul, November 17: US-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says three more foreign soldiers have been killed in separate attacks in southern and eastern Afghanistan.

New Delhi, November 17: A draft bill to set up a powerful Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for better regulation of the aviation sector is in an advanced stage of getting the official nod, official sources said on Thursday.

“A draft legislation has been prepared. It is currently being vetted by the Law Ministry. After this, it will be taken up by the Union Cabinet for approval before it is placed in Parliament,” the sources said here.

Moscow, November 17: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will arrive here on December 16 to attend the annual Indo-Russian summit.

The announcement was made by External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, who arrived here today on a three-day visit to finalise political and economic agenda of the summit.

Krishna met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and is understood to have discussed key regional and global issues including the situation in Afghanistan, West Asia and Syria.

Ayodhya, November 17: BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday claimed that the party MPs were being “framed” in the cash for vote case and they were innocent.

He alleged that the UPA was responsible for the scam. “I can’t say whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh knows or not,” he told reporters on the sidelines of party’s Vijay Sankalp Samagam here.

“Our MPs are being framed in the case and they are innocent,” he added.

In reply to a question, the BJP president said that the party’s issue was that of Ram Raj.

Allahabad, November 17: Sharpening his attack on the Congress-led central government on the black money issue, yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Thursday termed Manmohan Singh “a helpless prime minister who is surrounded by corrupt people”.

“There is a strong prime minister, and a helpless one,” Ramdev said at a press conference here, 200 km from Lucknow.

Though Manmohan Singh is personally very honest, he has been made helpless by the groups of corrupt people around him, the yoga guru said.

Mumbai, November 17: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to a baby girl yesterday at an upscale Marol hospital around 10.30 am. The delivery was done under the supervision of Dr Vinita Salve.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Bachchan grandchild but the family has been very careful not to let out any detail.

Hyderabad, November 17: South Central railway sources said that in view of extra rush of passengers, South Central Railway has extended the services of Hyderabad-Ajmer-Hyderabad Weekly Special Train till 4th December, 2011.

Sources told that Train No. 07106 Hyderabad-Ajmer Weekly Special train will also run on Fridays i.e. o¬n 18th, 25th November and 2nd December 2011 and arrive Ajmer at 14 30 hrs o¬n Sundays.

Hyderabad, November 17: Convenor Telangana Auto Drivers JAC Mohammad Amanullah Khan in a statement said that there would be no relief by dropping the petrol price just 2 rupees per kg.

Announcing indefinite auto bandh from December 1, he demanded to fix the minimum auto fare at 20 rupees. He also demanded that the government cancel the mode of police E challan.

The case is likely to be entrusted to other units by the CBI headquarters. CBI Hyderabad is already probing into cases like the Satyam scam, Gali Janardhan Reddy’s illegal mining case, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets case, Emaar scam, Railway recruitment scam, Abu Salem passport case etc.

Bangalore, November 17: A dispute between two call girls from rival brothels led to the brutal murder of a local financier in Basaveshwar Nagar here on Sunday.

The victim, Vijay Kumar (26), was a frequent visitor to a brothel where Gayatri worked, while Tommy alias Jagga, the local goon, used to visit Lakshmi regularly at her brothel.

Chandigarh, November 17: A man has been detained here for allegedly planning an attack on L.K. Advani during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s Jan Chetna Yatra, police said Thursday.

“We have taken a person into custody. We are investigating the matter,” Chandigarh senior superintendent of police Naunihal Singh said here Thursday.

Advani, who arrived here Wednesday evening during his yatra, has left for Panchkula in Haryana, 15 km from here. His yatra will enter Sirmaur district in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh later Thursday.

Bhubaneswar, November 17: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik suffered a ligament injury in his right ankle after slipping and falling near his residence here Thursday, an official said.

“He slipped near the gate in Naveen Nivas at about 6.45 a.m. during his morning walk,” a senior official at the chief minister office’s told facenfacts.

“Doctors checked him and the X-ray revealed that a ligament in his right ankle has been affected,” he said.

Mumbai, November 17: Finally on Wednesday six Malegaon blast 2006 accused were released by the Arthur Road Jail authorities after completing long formalities which took nearly 11 days. A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on 5th November had granted bail to the nine accused on a personal bond of Rs.50,000 each.

Hyderabad, November 17: Though TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is averse to move the Supreme Court for a stay on the High Court direction to the CBI to investigate his riches, senior leaders of the party on Wednesday prevailed upon him to reconsider his decision.

The leaders who included Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Kadiam Srihari and Motkupalli Narasimhulu, tried to make Naidu see the reason in going to the Supreme Court since the issue was not limited to him alone but concerned the entire party.

Hyderabad, November 17: Violating court orders, the construction work is continued at the waqf land of the mosque in Ameerpet. Panjagutta Police has taken the Muslim youth protesting against this violation into custody. However CPI Rajya Sabha member Mr. Aziz Pasha intervened and released them.

Hyderabad, November 17: A top bureaucrat of the Andhra Pradesh government Thursday appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) amid speculation that she may be arrested in the illegal mining case involving the mining company of former Karnataka minister G. Janardhana Reddy.

After remaining elusive for the last few days, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official Y. Srilakshmi, who figures as accused number four in the case, reached the CBI office at Koti.

The CBI officials began questioning her. Officials said the questioning may continue till evening.
