Hyderabad, April 30: MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was shot by unidentified miscreants on Saturday in Hyderabad. He was participating in padyatra at Chandrayanagutta in old city. Injured Akbaruddin was admitted to hospital.

As per TV reports there where gun shots and then he was attacked by knifes in chandrayangutta.

Chiranjeevi lashes out at Jagan Reddy

Kadapa, April 30: Actor-turned politician Chiranjeevi on Friday came down heavily on YSR party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while campaigning for Congress candidates in by-elections to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing meetings in road show at various villages from Chintakommadinne to Pulivendula mandals, Chiranjeevi alleged that Jagan, the son of late chief minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy, is very keen to became the chief minister.

He asked the people to defeat Jagan by casting their votes in favour of Congress.

CTET entrance test for teachers

Hyderabad, April 30: The Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET for the candidates pursuing for B.Ed and D.Ed will be conducted on June 26.

The exam paper will be in English and Hindi. The language papers also include Urdu/Telugu. Forms can be obtained till May 10.

Jobs for 2 lakh in Metro Rail project

Hyderabad, April 30: L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd (L&TMRHL) is expected to create direct and indirect employment to over two lakh workers in the state. Once operational, the project is also expected to attract investments of about Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore.

L&TMRHL is a special purpose vehicle floated jointly by infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro Ltd and government of Andhra Pradesh to execute the Rs 16,375-crore metro project.

Ex-BARC scientist commits suicide

Mumbai, April 30: A former scientist with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) allegedly committed suicide at her residence in southcentral Mumbai, police said Friday.

Uma Rao, 63, was in ill health which is believed to have driven her to commit suicide.

“Rao was found dead in her room this (Friday) morning. We have found a suicide note from her room that said she was depressed and was taking the extreme step,” a police official said.

Rao worked in the Food Technology and Cell Biology division at BARC and was also the President of Indian Women Scientists’ Association (IWSA).

Rajinikanth discharged from hospital

Mumbai, April 30: Superstar Rajinikanth who was admitted to Isabel hospital in Chennai on Friday afternoon for dehydration and exhaustion was discharged by night.

The star is back to his home in Poes Garden and has been advised complete rest for a week.

Ahmedabad, April 30: Guj govt duty-bound to give security to Sanjiv Bhatt: PC New Delhi: Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday said the Gujarat government was duty bound to provide security to police officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who has filed an affidavit implicating Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 riots.

“I think it is the duty of the state government to ensure his security and that no harm comes to him,” Chidambaram told reporters at his monthly press conference.

He was reacting to reports that security cover of Bhatt has been removed.

AMU shut down indefinitely after violence

Aligarh, April 30: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been adjourned sine die after violence erupted in the campus on Friday night as students of two rival groups clashed with each other.

Reports said the two warring groups of students opened fire with about 100 rounds fired in all. They pelted stones at each other and ransacked university property. At least 12 students were injured in the clashes.

Anil Kumar, District Magistrate of Aligarh, has confirmed the firing in the campus.

Hillary to travel to Rome to attend meeting on Libya

Washington, April 30: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would travel to Rome next week to participate in a meeting to discuss ways to protect civilians caught in cross-fire between Libyan rebels and Qadhafi forces.

Scheduled from May 4 to May 6, the meeting of the Libya Contact Group in Rome will build on the last Contact Group meeting held in Doha and will allow the US to discuss with its international partners the ongoing implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1970 and 1973, the State Department spokesman, Mark Toner, said.

Washington, April 30: Continued presence of terrorist safe havens and role of certain “actors” in Pakistan remains a challenge in the war against terror, a US defence official has said.

“The concern about the role of safe havens in Pakistan and the role of actors in Pakistan, including the Haqqani Network, the Afghan Taliban who are located primarily, the leadership is located either in the south or in the north around Peshawar, that remains a significant challenge,” a senior defense official said at a Pentagon briefing.

Germany arrests 3 al-Qaeda suspects

German, April 30: German police have arrested three al-Qaeda suspects who will be put on trial on Saturday, when a news conference has been scheduled.

German prosecutor’s office in the southwestern city of Karlsruhe announced that the three suspects were arrested early Friday, but did not give further details,

According to security sources, the suspects are originally Moroccans but were living in Germany’s western state of North Rhine-Westphalia, when they were detained.

Gaddafi threatens to hit aid ships

Tripoli, April 30: Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi’s regime has threatened to attack any cargo ship attempting to bring humanitarian assistance into the besieged port city of Misratah.

According to Libyan state TV, the Gaddafi regime insists that the humanitarian assistance should be sent via road and under the supervision of the Libyan army,
