Mumbai, February 04: Katrina Kaif might be trying her best to keep her affair with Ranbir Kapoor under wraps but the cat is out or so it seems.

The couple, who were seen partying at Karan Johar’s bash in Mumbai, spent the night together at the Kapoor scion’s Bandra residence. Even though the two stars left in separate vehicles, Katrina followed Ranbir to his home where she was seen leaving in the morning at about 7 am.

CBI net profit up by 96%

Hyderabad, February 4: The Central Bank of India has reported a 32 per cent increase in its Net Profit for the Third quarter ended December 31, 2010, at Rs 403.52 crore on the back of a steep 96 per cent rise in interest income.

While the net profit for the corresponding period last year was Rs 306.44 crore. The Net Interest Income for the reporting quarter has almost doubled to Rs 1432 crore from Rs 730 crore a year ago.

Entire village donates eyes to NTR eye bank

Hyderabad, February 4: The TDP president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that every village should follow Kammeta under Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district and get involved in service activities.

Mr Naidu was addressing the people of the village, who have, under the leadership of MLA, Mr Ratnam, and the MLC, Mr Narender Reddy, responded to the call of the NTR Memorial Trust and gave consent letters to donate their eyes to the NTR Eye Bank. All the 550 people of the village signed their agreement papers and handed them over to Mr Naidu on Thursday.

Babu questions rationale behind GoM on fee arrears

Hyderabad, February 4: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday demanded that the state government release arrears of fee reimbursement to all students who are pursuing engineering in private colleges.

In a letter he had written to the Chief Minister, Mr Naidu said that 24 lakh students in the state are facing an uncertain future and harassment due to failure of state government in releasing funds under fee reimbursement scheme.

He said the government was playing with lives of students by appointing a plethora of committees and dragging the issue.

Mecca Masjid Blasts: BJP, VHP Slam Kiran Reddy

Hyderabad, February 04: BJP and VHP strongly condemned the reported remarks of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy that minority community members were unfairly implicated in the Mecca Masjid blast, which was a handiwork of “Hindu militants”.

“Your irresponsible statements during a programme in old city here yesterday have created confusion in the minds of people” who become victims of the blast in August 2007 and later communal violence,” BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya said in an open letter to Kiran Reddy.

Road mishap claims girl’s life

Hyderabad, February 4: A girl died in a road accident under the Jeedimetla police station limits.

According to Sub inspector Hanumaiah, the victim has been identified as A Bhagyasree (19), daughter of Ranga Reddy, a resident of Bahadurpally, Venkataramana Colony.

She sustained serious injuries while going with her brother on motorcycle when a DCM van hit their vehicle at Jeedimetla cross road on Tuesday.

She died at Gandhi Hospital while undergoing treatment on Wednesday night and her brother sustained minor injuries. Police registered a case under Section 304A IPC

Police officials’ meet ends amid chaos

Hyderabad, February 4: A meeting of police officials held here on Thursday witnessed heated arguments when the Telangana police officials demanded that they be given their posts.

The Telangana police officials demanded at the meeting that the posts of honorary president and secretary should be given to Telangana officials only and the general secretary post be given to a Seemandhra police official. The Seemandhra officials objected to the argument of Telangana police officials. Due to this, the meeting turned chaotic and ended abruptly in the mid-way.

Free power to be extended to farmers with Tatkal schemes: CM

West Godavari/Krishna, February 4: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday promised to extend the facility of free power to farmers having power connections under the ‘Tatkal’ scheme.

Talking to media persons after participating in a Racha Banda programme held at Supriyanpeta in Chintalpudi mandal in the district, the Chief Minister said that over 28 lakh farmers were enjoying free power extended by the government for agriculture.

None can restore YSR rule, says Diwakar

Hyderabad, February 4: Stating that Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule ended with his untimely death, the senior Congress leader, Mr J C Diwakara Reddy, opined that those who were claiming that they would bring back Dr YSR rule again should realize the fact.

Elderly man falls while boarding train, dies

Hyderabad, February 4: An elderly man fell down from train while boarding under Secunderabad railway police station limits.

According to Sub inspector Khader Shareef, the victim has been identified as Abdul Lateef (60), a resident of Hakeempet.

On Wednesday evening, Lateef accidentally fell down from Konark Express while boarding it at Secunderabad Railway Station. He sustained serious injuries and died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

Police registered a case under Section 174 CRPC.

Bid to storm RR collectorate by TD, left parties activists

Hyderabad, February 4: The activists and leaders of the Telugu Desam and Left parties jointly demonstrated at the Ranga Reddy district Collectorate here on Thursday in protest against the spiraling prices of essential commodities, petrol and diesel.

The protestors descended at the Collectorate in the morning and raised slogans against the government for failing to control price rise. When they tried to gatecrash into the Collectorate, the alert police personnel foiled their attempt resulting in jostling between the cops and protestors. GoM to study scholarship funds process, no transfer date given

Hyderabad, February 4: In the wake of the mounting upsurge from the students, colleges and the opposition and that they would further intensify their agitation if the government did not respond to their demand for release of funds to meet the students’ reimbursement and scholarships, the government on Thursday appointed a Group of Ministers only to streamline the process of granting scholarships and fee reimbursement to the eligible students drawn from SC, ST, BC and Minorities whose annual family income is less than Rs 1 lakh.

Chaos will come if I step down: Mubarak

Cairo, February 04: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak wants to resign but worries that his country will sink into chaos if he does, the leader told US network ABC.

“If I resign today there will be chaos,” Mubarak was quoted as saying in the interview, which appeared on the ABC website.

“I don’t care what people say about me. Right now I care about my country, I care about Egypt,” the president said.

Mubarak, according to the report, remains in the presidential palace in Cairo with his family, heavily guarded by troops, tanks and barbed wire.

Eight Arogyasri camps to be held in city from Feb. 5 TO 12

Hyderabad, February 4: The district Collector, Mr Natarajan Gulzar, has announced that eight Arogyasri camps will be organised in various mandals from February 5 to 12.

According to an I&PR press release here today, Arogyasri camps will be held at Baiderwadi community hall under Nampally mandal, in government school near Passport Office at Kummarguda in Secunderabad and at Amarnagar Auto Garage at Mangalhat under Asifnagar mandal on February 5.

High-power cabinet panel to take decisions on naxal problem set up

Hyderabad, February 4: The State government on Thursday reconstituted High-Power Cabinet Sub-Committee to take decisions at top level on the issues connected with Naxalite problem in the State.

The High-Power Cabinet Sub-Committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of the Finance Minister with the functions of looking at various issues connected with the rehabilitation of the surrendered extremists and payment of ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased persons who were killed in extremist violence.

Teacher succumbs to burns

Hyderabad, February 4: A private school teacher succumbed to burns under the Begumpet police station limits.

According to Sub inspector S Santosham, the victim has been identified as Kalyani (30), wife of Ramesh and a resident of Balamrai, Secunderabad.

Unable to bear stomach pain, on Wednesday, Kalyani poured kerosene on her body and set a fire. She died while undergoing treatment in hospital late on Wednesday night.

Police registered a case under Section 174 CRPC and the body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.

Hyderabad, February 4: A businessman committed suicide due to financial problems under the Jeedimetla police station limits.

According to Jeedimetla police, the victim has been identified as NR Babu (42), a resident of Subhash Nagar, Rangareddy district.

Babu consumed poison on Wednesday. He died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital later in the night.
