Ayodhya verdict: Hundreds of scribes gather outside court

Lucknow, September 30: With the premises of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court being out of bounds, hundreds of journalists from across the country converged at the District Magistrate’s office in Qaiserbagh area here to report on the verdict in the decades old Ramjanmabhoomi- Babri Masjid title suit. Elaborate arrangements have been put in place and a special ‘pandal’ that can accommodate 500 journalists and camerapersons has been erected right opposite the court premises.

PV Ramesh appointed special officer of NIMS

Hyderabad, September 30: Principal secretary for health PV Ramesh has been appointed special officer for Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here today. Ramesh, who took charge this evening from the incumbent director Dr D Prasada Rao, will hold the additional charge for a period of three months or until further orders are issued. However, sources said that the appointment is an interim arrangement and a professional doctor is likely to be appointed to the coveted post in a month or two.

Andhra DGP urges calm and restraint

Hyderabad, September 30: Director general of police K Aravinda Rao today appealed to all sections of the society, particularly the youth against indulging in violence after the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench Court gives the verdict on the title suit relating to Ayodhya dispute tomorrow. “It is unfortunate that an event (Ayodhya/Babri issue) which took place in Uttar Pradesh, not even known to the people in Andhra Pradesh till about 25 years ago, is now being eagerly watched by several persons, causing fear and apprehension in their minds,’’ the DGP said.

Provocative SMS: Four held in Kerala

Thiruvantapuram, September 30: Four youths were arrested from Ochira in Kollam district today for allegedly sending provocative SMS messages to friends relating to the Ayodhya issue.

Police said the four – Jayakumar, Subhash, Manu and Jijo – were arrested this morning and would be produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court at Karunagappally.

Sending messages in connection with the Ayodhya verdict, to be pronounced later today by the Allahabad High Court, has been banned by the state administration.

APCPDCL signs pact with SCCL

Hyderabad, September 30: Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) envisaging sale of 288 million units per day generated from the 1,200 MW SCCL thermal power plant proposed at Pegadapalli in Adilabad district.

APCPDCL chairman and managing director MT Krishna Babu and SCCL chairman and managing director S Narsing Rao signed the agreement here today in the presence of chief minister K Rosaiah.

Three TTD ex-board members face criminal cases

Tirumala, September 30: For the first time in the annals of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the administration has lodged a complaint against three former Trust Board members – K Yadaiah, M Anjaiah, A Subrahmanyam -, five TTD employees and four others, including two deputy EO cadre officers, seeking criminal action against them in the Arjitha seva ticket scam.

Ayesha murderer jailed for life; Dalits protest

Vijayawada, September 30: After many twists and turns, the sensational Ayesha Meera rape-cum-murder case finally culminated in a lifer for main accused Pidatala Satyam Babu (24) here on Wednesday sparking off protests from various quarters.

Satyam Babu of Anasagaram village in Krishna district was held guilty on two counts of murder and rape. He was handed life imprisonment for murdering Ayesha Meera, an under-graduate, under Section 302 of the IPC and asked to pay Rs 1,000 or undergo six more months in jail if he fails to pay up.

Ayodhya Verdict: Judges to Give 3 Separate Judgements

Lucknow, September 30: The three judges of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court will give separate judgements in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid case at 1530 hours today.

Lucknow District Magistrate Anil Kumar Sagar told reporters that three synopses of the judgement of three judges will be given to the media immediately after the pronouncement of the verdict.

It will also be put on the website of the court on the internet, he said.

Ayesha murder: Has justice been done?

Hyderabad, September 30: On December 27, 2007, first-year B Pharmacy student of Nimrah College, 19-year-old Syeda Ayesha Meera was found murdered in her hostel at Ibrahimpatnam. The naked body of the victim was found in the bathroom.

One of her legs was tied to a tap with a rope.

The words — H Prema Chiruta — were written on her bosom with a skecth pen and a letter purportedly written by the killer recovered from her room.

Ayodhya dispute: How it all began

New Delhi, September 30: The Babri mosque dates back nearly 500 years when it was built in Ayodhya by Mir Baqi, a commander of first Mughal emperor Babur, in 1528. Hence the mosque’s name — Babri Masjid.

1853: First recorded incident of Hindu-Muslim violence over the site with Hindus alleging the mosque was built on the site of a razed Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Ram.

1859: British erect a fence and allow Muslims and Hindus to worship separately in the inner and outer courtyards.

Ayodhya verdict not about Hindus, Muslims: Babri panel

Lucknow, September 30: The Ayodhya verdict will not be about Hindus or Muslims, but will reflect the victory of the rule of law and independence of the judiciary, Zafaryab Jilani, the Babri Masjid Action Committee convenor, said ahead of the Ayodhya verdict Thursday.

“These cases relating to the title and possession of Babri Masjid are apparently between two communities but actually they relate to the secular fabric of the country,” Jilani, who is also counsel for the Sunni Central Waqf Board, said in a statement here.

RJD releases list for Bihar polls

Patna, September 30: Bihar’s main opposition the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Thursday released the list of 65 candidates for two phases of the six-phase assembly polls.

RJD spokesperson Shakil Ahmad Khan said the party has released a list of 31 candidates for the first phase and 34 candidates for the second phase.

Senior RJD leader and parliamentarian Ram Kirpal Yadav said that all sections of society were given adequate representation in the list.

The first phase polls will be held Oct 21 for 47 seats and second round will be held Oct 24 in 45 constituencies.

Three killed in wall collapse

Lucknow, September 30: Three persons were killed and another was injured when mud wall of their house collapsed in Mohanlalganj area, police said here today. Ram Prasad (70), his grandson Ritesh (3), another relative Mamta (18) and neighbour Ibrahim were buried under the debris when the wall of the house collapsed in Kalander Khera village yesterday, they said.

While Prasad and Ritesh died on the spot, Ibrahim later succumbed at the hospital.

511 youth recruited in Air force

Hyderabad, September 30 (siasat News): 12 Airmen Selection Centre of Indian Air forces has selected 511 youth from all over the country as Airmen. They will be given training in Airmen training school.

These youth were selected through a recruitment rally conducted in Tirupati.

The recruitment was done by KK Sharma 12 Airmen Selection Centre.

Piped cooking gas connections in city soon

Hyderabad, September 30 (Siasat News): Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) chairman L Man Singh assured chief minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday that piped cooking gas would be supplied to the kitchens within the next two months.

The distribution of connections will start from the NALSAR Colony at Shamirpet and will be extended to other parts soon.
