APCPDCL signs pact with SCCL

Hyderabad, September 30: Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) envisaging sale of 288 million units per day generated from the 1,200 MW SCCL thermal power plant proposed at Pegadapalli in Adilabad district.

APCPDCL chairman and managing director MT Krishna Babu and SCCL chairman and managing director S Narsing Rao signed the agreement here today in the presence of chief minister K Rosaiah.

The SCCL officials said that establishment of this pit-head power plant is likely to be economical keeping in view of the availability of water and coal from abandoned SCCL mines in the area. The land required for the power plant is already in the possession of SCCL and preliminary works have commenced. The thermal power plant is being established with an investment of Rs 5,685 crore where the internal resources and debt equity of funds is 30 per cent and 70 per cent respectively. Boiler, turbine and generator (BTG) will be sourced from BHEL and all the units will be commissioned by December 2013. The APTransco will be making arrangements for connecting to the grid by laying 160 KM 400 KV HT transmission line from Pegadapally in Adilabad district to Gajwel in Medak district.
