Mumbai, July 25: Hindi film actress and IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta on Saturday claimed on her Twitter account that no summons had been served to her by the Chandigarh court.

Her reaction came in response to the news that a local court had issued an arrest warrants against co-owners actress Preity Zinta, industrialists Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman for failing to appear before it on a complaint accusing them of not filing its balance sheets and annual returns.

Woman gives birth to triplets

Rajahmundry, July 25: A woman delivered triplets in Tuni Mandal of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh yesterday.M Lakshmi (25) of Pakayaraopet Mandal of Visakhapatnam district gave birth to the triplets in the mandal area hospital yesterday morning. They are two female babies one male baby, hospital sources said.

The normal weight of the babies should be three kgs each while these babies weigh of two kgs each, doctors said adding that the three babies are healthy.

Salman chose Kangna & not Kat

1 dead during Cong padyatra Bellary Chalo

Banglore, July 25: After sleep-in protest at the Karnataka Assembly, the Opposition Congress MLAs are now up and walking. They are on a padyatra – Bellary chalo – against illegal mining and to highlight “failure” of the BJP government.

One party worker collapsed and died during the march which began on Sunday.

The Congress leaders will walk for 20 km every day, covering an average of 3 km per hour for 15 days. The Congress’ Bangalore-Bellary journey started from Bangalore on Sunday.

Boy born with 6 legs

Karachi, July 25: A woman has given birth to a baby boy with six legs in Karachi.

The boy was born at a maternity home near Star Gate and is admitted to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) for a surgery to be performed on his intestines, which were hanging out of his abdomen, reports the Daily Star.

NICH deputy director Arshad Ali Domki said the child was being provided medical treatment while his surgery would be conducted after consultation with specialist doctors.

Doctors have also said that such cases were rare in the country.

Muslim women can respect veil bans: Saudi cleric

Riyadh, July 25: A leading Saudi cleric hit out at France for moving to ban Muslim face-veils, but approved Muslim women foregoing veils when visiting a country which outlaws them, a report said.

“It is illogical and unreasonable that the French government undertakes such a thing, which is condemned by neutral people, not just Muslims, because the secular state assures freedom of religion,” Sheikh Aed al-Qarni told Al-Hayat newspaper.

“The state has to respect religious rituals and beliefs, including those of Muslims,” he said in an interview.

Principal confesses of raping girl

Hyderabad, July 25: Parkwood International School director Mohammed Salauddin Ayub has reportedly confessed to police that he had raped the 17-year-old girl on several occasions and also made a vain bid to rape a foreign student.

According to sources, Salauddin Ayub confessed that he used to stay on the third floor of Princes Court Block, where girls used to stay on the school campus.

Mayawati skips NDC meet yet again

New Delhi, July 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati skipped the meeting of the National Development Council for a second year in a row.

It is not unusual for her to skip meetings called by the Central government.

In August last year, while she was in Delhi to meet the Prime Minister to demand a special package for power supply, she did not attend a meeting chaired by Manmohan Singh on internal security on the same day.

Dubai Metro to run till 1 a.m. during Ramadan

Dubai, July 25: The Dubai Metro will extend its working hours during the holy month of Ramadan, an official said Saturday.

Mattar Al Tayer, executive director of Roads and Transports Authority in Dubai, said in a statement that the metro will run from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. throughout the week except Friday, when it will run from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.
