Boycott Jagan’s yatra, Rosaiah says

Hyderabad, July 07: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah Wednesday asked Congress legislators to boycott the yatra of party MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, saying participation would amount to indiscipline.

Rosaiah told reporters that some legislators sought his advice on their participation in the yatra beginning in Srikakulam district Thursday. “I told them that they should not participate as the party high command has not given permission.”

American woman raped in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 07: A 30-year-old US national was raped at her residence in the posh Banjara Hills locality, police said today.

The incident took place late last night when an unidentified person barged into the woman’s rented house and sexually assaulted her after threatening her at knife point, they said.

The victim was working for a US-based non-profit charitable organisation since a year and was living alone in a penthouse at Road No.11 in Banjara Hills, police said.

She has been admitted to a corporate hospital where medical tests will be conducted.

On condition of anonymity, a crew member reveals, “Director Abhinav Kashyap wanted to make it a realistic and gritty film about a corrupt cop set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, in the vein of what Vishal Bhardwaj and Anurag Kashyap would attempt. But Salman stepped in and changed the film to suit his vision.”

Mumbai, July 07: Many of Ameesha Patel’s closest buddies are male.

“So the guy in my life should be able to handle that and accept their presence and friendship for what it is, ” says the actress who is the cover girl for the latest issue of The Man.

Going a step further she says, “It would be nice if sometimes, my man could be my ‘girlfriend’, you know, comfortable doing ‘girlie’ things with me.”

Mumbai, July 07: Here’s a first look at the cast of Zoya Akhtar’s film in Spain.

Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin are in Spain shooting Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The cast is filming most of the scenes in and around Madrid.

A few fans got a chance to get up close and personal with the actors and take pictures with them while they were shooting.

Recently the actors shot a scene depicting them having a mock fight with tomatoes on the streets of Spain. The scene is inspired by the annual La Tomatina event in Bunol near Valencia.

Jagan’s yatra raises political heat in Andhra

Hyderabad, July 07: By-elections to 12 Assembly seats in Telangana region on July 27 and the obvious power game in the ruling Congress party in Andhra Pradesh have risen the political temperature in the State.

Fuelling the atmosphere is a rebellious young MP from Kadapa, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has virtually thrown a challenge at the Congress high command over the continuation of his “Odarpu Yatra” (tour to console people) from July 8.

TDP fields Babu Mohan in Siddipet

Hyderabad, July 07: The TDP has released its final list of candidates for three Assembly byelections on July 27.

Former minister and film actor Babu Mohan will be its candidate for the Siddipet Assembly seat in Medak district while A Narasa Reddy will be the nominee for Nizamabad Urban.

For Vemulawada in Karimnagar district, the party will field G Venkateswara Rao.

The party has already announced its candidates for the other nine constituencies going to the polls.

Congress final list is out

Hyderabad July 07: The Congress high command today released the third and final list by announcing the candidates for the remaining two constituencies–Korutla and Mancherial. The party renominated former minister J Ratnakar Rao for Korutla and Krishna Rao for Mancherial.

Ratnakar Rao had lost to K Vidyasagar Rao of the TRS by a margin of over 15,000 in the 2009 election. His renomination was stiffly opposed by former MLA K Ramulu.

Vatican to reform sex abuse laws

Vatican, July 07: The Vatican has made a number of changes to its canon law to thwart the threats it perceives posed by the sexual abuse crisis all over the world.

The changes, to be revealed within the next few days, would enshrine into ‘universal law’ exceptions granted in 2003 by late Pope John Paul II to a 2001 Vatican document governing abuse.

The “instructions” are also expected to extend the statute of limitations in which abuse victims can come forward and report their abuse 10 years after their 20th birthday rather than a decade after their 18th birthday.

CM blames PRP, MIM for short session

Hyderabad, July 07: Chief minister K Rosaiah defended the decision to restrict the monsoon session of the Assembly to seven days. At an informal interaction with mediapersons at his chambers in the Assembly after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, he said since some opposition parties like the PRP and MIM were not keen on sitting for 10 days, it was to limit it for seven days. He said the two parties instead wanted longer business hours each day.

US Citizen Raped & Robbed In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 07: A U.S. citizen was robbed and raped at knife point at her rented house in the upmarket Banjara Hills locality in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

The 25-year-old woman is being treated at a nearby corporate hospital.

The U.S. citizen works for a non-profit charitable organisation and lives alone in the penthouse of an independent house on Road No 11 of Banjara Hills.

They have launched a Facebook campaign called “We Want Them Four,” asking every capable Saudi man to marry four women to reduce the number of spinsters in the country.

Police solves murder mystery

Hyderabad, July 7 (Siasat News): A team of the task force, east zone on Tuesday, cracked the mystery behind the recent double murders of husband and wife G Gopal and Anjeneya Manga at a construction site in Nallakunta and arrested Narsimhulu, 35.

The police said that Narsimhulu was depressed because Manga, who he was intimate with, started to ignore him. This led him to kill the couple.

Rapist clears IAS and gets Bail

New Delhi,July 07 :A RAPE convict, who was released on the orders of the Delhi High Court after he cleared the civil service examination from jail, has not been responding to a notice issued to him on an appeal by the National Commission for Women ( NCW).

A public notice was published in two newspapers on behalf of the Supreme Court on December 8, 2009 but there was no representation on behalf of Ashok Rai alias Amit during the hearing on Monday.

The public notice had to be issued because notice could not be served as Rai’s house was found locked on two occasions.
