Kuala Lumpur, June 28: A Malaysian man is appealing to his former girlfriend to stop circulating his nude pictures and to destroy them.

Ng Lum Heng, 44, has sought the help of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Public Services and Complaints Department after the woman e-mailed his nude pictures to his wife, friends and colleagues.

This may be a reversal of roles the world over, particularly in Malaysia where women politicians, TV celebrities and commoners alike are victims of the wrath of their jilted male lovers who resort to circulating nude pictures of their former partners.

Bihar fears Mamata may take away Lalu projects

Patna, June 28: The exit of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad from the railway ministry seems to have put a slew of projects announced by him for Bihar in limbo. State leaders fear the new minister, Mamata Banerjee, may shift some of these projects to her home state, West Bengal.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned of statewide agitations if the railway projects meant for Bihar are moved outside the state, Lalu has also expressed his displeasure.

Washington, June 28: US President Barack Obama is re-branding a Bush-era plan to fund anti-government Iran-based elements through domestic and foreign entities, a report says.

The Obama White House has apparently refused to act on the former administration’s decision to allocate USD 66 million to Iranian dissidents, devising a new approach instead, USA TODAY reported on Friday.

His team has demanded that an additional USD 15 million be pumped into the Near Eastern Regional Democracy Initiative which addresses related issues in the region.

14-yr-old girl kidnapped, raped in Junagadh; escapes from captivity

Surat, June 28: Yet another case of kidnap and rape of a minor girl has surfaced in the city within a span of 15 days. A minor girl was kidnapped from the Punagam area in Surat on Tuesday and was allegedly raped in Junagadh.

The 14-year-old girl, a resident of Punagam, had left home on Tuesday telling her parents that she was going to the diamond firm in Varachha where she worked.

But when she failed to return till night, her parents began a search. They went to the diamond firm and asked the manager about her, who told them that she had not come to work on Tuesday.

New Delhi, June 28: Akshaye Khanna shared screen space with his dad Vinod Khanna in his debut film “Himalay Putra” 12 years ago.

The actor is now longing to act with the veteran thespian once again.

BSNL launches desktop PC for Rs6,500

Ahmedabad, June 28: Believe it or not. Here is a desktop computer for just Rs1,900 and Rs6,500. The state owned telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched Novatium’s netPC in Gujarat on Friday. The computers are made by Chennai-based company, Novatium Solutions which will sell these computers through BSNL in Gujarat.

Both the companies believe that this PC is probably the country’s cheapest computer.

Iran’s Moussavi rejects partial vote recount

Tehran, June 28: Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi Saturday refused to support a panel set up by the electoral watchdog Guardian Council to conduct a partial recount of votes in the disputed presidential election, a media report said.

Refusing to be cowed by attacks on his party offices, Moussavi again demanded for fresh polls.

“Limiting the probe into complaints about electoral irregularities to recounting 10 percent of the ballot boxes cannot attract people’s trust and convince public opinion about the results,” Moussavi said on his campaign website.

Swat operation nears end, says Gilani

Karachi, June 28: Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the military operation in the Swat Valley is nearing end as the top rung militants there have been killed and the government would now focus on the development of the region, the Online News Agency said Saturday.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a Textile City here.

He said the military operation against Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud will continue till he is captured.

The Pakistani leader said the government has formulated the country’s first textile policy that will help create jobs.

HP clears new industrial proposal worth Rs 167.55cr

Shimla, June 27: The Himachal Pradesh government today approved six industrial proposals entailing investment of Rs 167.55 crore.

The proposals were cleared at the meeting of State Single Window Clearance and Monitoring under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, an official release said here.

At the meeting the government also accepted seven expansion proposals of existing industrial units with an additional investment of Rs 174.76 crore, it added.

Seven among two women buried under sand

Lucknow, June 27: Seven persons including two women were killed and another was killed when they got buried under sand in Bijnore district, police sources said here today.

The incident took place in Mendubal village in Nazibabad police circle when some labourers were digging sand which caved in on the bank of river Ratnal, killing seven of them on the spot.

Those killed were identified as Meena, Rupkishore, Negpal, Ram Kishen, Gyan Singh and Somwati, they said adding the injured was rushed to the district hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable.

Bhopal, June 27: The Madhya Pradesh BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar took party MP Narayan Singh Kesri’s comment seriously over distribution of tickets after party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha polls in the state, said party state Vice-President Maya Singh here today.

Addressing a press conference after the party’s two-day office bearers’ meeting here, Ms Singh said action might be taken against Mr Kesri after a discussion in the party forum.

Although she did not spell out clearly about the mode of action, but did not rule out about disciplinary action against Mr Kesri.

17 women injured as cab hits tree

Ambala, June 27: Seventeen women, travelling in a maxi cab to mourn the death of a relative, were injured when the cab rammed into a tree on Sadhaur-Doosarka road leading to Chandigarh-Delhi highway. The accident took place when the driver lost control in an effort to save a cyclist who had suddenly appeared on the road.

One of the victims, Phoolvati, sustained multiple injuries and was referred to the PGI Chandigarh, while the rest of the injured women were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

Baghdad, June 27: A key ally of the anti-US cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has been freed, his group said on Saturday, after more than two years in detention on suspicion of inciting murder and abduction.

“Iraqi and American forces released Sheikh Abdul Hadi al-Darraji and he went to his house in Sadr City,” in eastern Baghdad, said Sadr movement spokesman Salah al-Obaidi, in the holy city of Najaf south of the capital.

NATO hopes to relaunch military coop with Russia: US

Corfu, June 27: NATO nations hope to restart military cooperation with Russia in piracy operations, counter-terrorism and on supply routes into Afghanistan in talks today, a senior US official said.

“There is a possibility that we will agree on the resumption of military to military cooperation, focused particularly on areas of common interest like counter-piracy, Afghanistan and counter-terrorism,” the official said.

N-Korea threatens to shoot down Japanese spy planes

Seoul, June 27: North Korea threatened on Saturday to shoot down any Japanese planes that intrude into its airspace, accusing Tokyo of spying near one of its missile launch sites.

The North has designated a no-sail zone off its eastern coast from June 25 to July 10 for military drills, raising concerns that it might test-fire short- or mid-range missiles in the coming days, in violation of a U.N. resolution.

North Korea’s air force said Japan’s E-767 surveillance aircraft conducted aerial espionage near the Musudan-ri missile site on its northeast coast Wednesday and Thursday.

Wife of former MLA Kharb surrenders before police

New Delhi, June 27: The wife of a former MLA who along with her husband allegedly cheated people of Rs 4.75 crore, on Saturday surrendered before the police in the national capital.

Anita, the wife of Ranbir Singh Kharb, who has already been arrested on June 17, surrendered before the officials of the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, a senior police official said.

According to the official, their victims were close relatives and friends. The couple allegedly promised investors that they would double their money in three years.

New Delhi, Juen 27: Protesting against the continuing water and power crisis, Delhi’s residents took to the streets yet again on Saturday. People blocked traffic, vandalized offices of power distribution companies and even demonstrated outside the home of state Power Minister A.K. Walia.

At several places in Mayur Vihar, Okhla, Rajinder Nagar, Tilak Nagar and localities in east Delhi, people blocked traffic and vandalised offices of power service providers, a police official said.
