The officer, thinking the radar was in error, drove by again; even slowly. Another flash. He did it again for the third time, at an even slower speed with the same result.

He thought: “This guy must have messed up the settings.” Weeks later he received three traffic tickets, each for not wearing a seat belt!

Pakistan asks Taliban to leave the country

Islamabad, June 22 : Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned the Taliban to leave the country, since the government will not rest until the last one was eliminated from the country’s soil.

Talking to reporters here last evening, Mr Malik said Taliban were neither Muslims nor Pakistanis. The nation had already said ‘no’ to the outfit and now they must leave Pakistan, he added.

Journalists held in Iran crackdown

Tehran, June 22: Iran appears to be stepping up its clampdown on the media amid continuing protests over the disputed re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president.

At least 24 journalists have been detained by authorities since the protests began a week ago, according to figures from a media watchdog and international media organisations.

Among those detained were the head of the Association of Iranian Journalists and a Canadian reporter for Newsweek.

Ahmedabad, June 22: Prince Manvendrasinh Gohil is back from Brazil after being a special guest and the first Asian to participate in Gay Parade at Sao Paulo.

He was made a guest of honour in a parade in which about 3.5 million people participated.

Sharing his experience, Prince Manvendrasinh said, “It was unbelievable to see such a huge gathering. And the parade was not the only thing. I inaugurated an office, an art exhibition and even released a book on homosexuality authored by the mother of a gay son. I was even made to dance with Samba dancers. The experience was terrific.”

Youth makes ‘obscene’ MMS of friend’s mother

Mumbai, June 22: A 21-year-old unemployed youth was arrested on Sunday for allegedly blackmailing his friend’s mother, with whom he was having an affair.

A son of a flourmill owner, Mujibur Rehman Ansari became “best buddies” with 15-year-old Sohail Shaikh (name changed). Both of them lived in MB Estate in Virar. Rehman started visiting Shaikh’s home frequently, said police. He got into a physical relationship with his mother Saleema (name changed), and later, captured it on camera. He made it into an MMS clip with an intention of blackmailing her.

London, June 22: Nicole Kidman has revealed that it was her father who helped her emerge from the trauma of her divorce with superstar Tom Cruise.
The 42-year-old actress who is now married to rocker Keith Urban says that her dad, Anthony Kidman supported her when her 10-year-old marriage with Cruise fell apart in 2001, Daily Mail online reported.

Jet pilot found dead in African envoy’s farmhouse

New Delhi, June 22: A 23-year-old Jet Airways pilot was found dead in a swimming pool in the Kapashera area of Southwest Delhi on Sunday.

Kunal Batra, a pilot with Jet Airways was at a farmhouse party at the house of the honorary consul of Togo, according to reports.

His body was found in the water at around 0400 hrs IST. The post mortem report says death was due to drowning.

Police are investigating several possibilities, but Kunal’s parents say he didn’t know how to swim and that it was an unfortunate accident.

Pakistan faces challenge of cementing victory against Taliban

Islamabad, June 22: The Pakistani army has exceeded expectations in its offensive against Taliban fighters in northwestern Pakistan, effectively marshaling arms, tactics and political support. But the tougher challenge will be preventing the extremists from returning, or from regrouping elsewhere.

“The key question is whether the army can hold the ground afterward,” said Urmila Venugopalan, a South Asia expert with the defense analysis group Jane’s.

Crispy Chicken and Cheese

Ingredients:
2 (� inch cubes) – boneless chicken breasts
200 g (� inch cubes) – cheese
1 cup – breadcrumbs
4 to 5 cloves – garlic, chopped
4 to 5 – black peppercorns, crushed
1 tbsp – fresh coriander leaves, chopped
2 tsp – lemon juice
1 – egg, beaten
1 tbsp – tomato ketchup
oil to deep fry
salt to taste
For Sauce:
6 tbsp – mayonnaise
3 tbsp – tomato ketchup

Put the chicken cubes in a bowl.
Add garlic, salt, crushed peppercorns, coriander leaves, lemon juice, egg and tomato ketchup.
Let them marinate for half an hour.
Place the breadcrumbs in a plate.
