Jundal’s Pak passport shows him Punjab’s resident

The Pakistani passport of LeT terrorist Syed Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, has shown him as a resident of Sheikhpura in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

The passport, which was issued in the name of Riyasat Ali, was issued by the Pakistan government to Jundal in 2009 with a validity of five years, sources said here today.

His father’s name was mentioned as Mohammad Khushi in the travel document.

Woman allegedly consumes poison at South Block

A woman allegedly tried to consume some poisonous substance at the Defence Ministry in South Block today when her request for a meeting with Army Headquarter officials was turned down, sources said.

The woman had yesterday met officials in the Army Headquarters regarding her problem with an army jawan posted at the Sena Bhawan here, they said.

Ex-CBI judge Ramarao’s judicial remand extended till July 13

The Anti Corruption Bureau Court on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of suspended Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Justice Pattabhi Ramarao, the accused in cash-for-bail case of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in an illegal mining case, till July 13.

The court gave this direction when the officials produced him in the court following expiry of his custody. Following the court directions, the officials shifted Pattabhi Ramarao to Cherlapally Central Jail.

Cylinder blast in old city creates sensation

Due to continuous leakage of gas from a domestic LPG cylinder, a blast has taken place in Gangabowli area under Rein Bazaar police station limits this afternoon. After the incident sensation prevailed in the area as the sound of the blast was powerful.However nobody has been injured in the incident.

Fake currency of over Rs 4 lakh seized, three held

Fake currency with a face value of Rs 4.74 lakh was today seized and three people arrested from Bharatpur district in this regard, police said.

Acting on a tip off, a Special Operation Group (SOG) team nabbed Aarif (25), Rashid (50) and Rafiq (30) from a market when they were returning after receiving the currency notes from their sources, DIG (SOG) Vishal Bansal said.

Rejecting controversy over his book, former President A P J Abdul Kalam today asserted that Sonia Gandhi was “Constitutionally” eligible to be appointed as the Prime Minister when Congress emerged as the largest party in 2004 elections.

DLF accused Gupta remanded to CCS custody

The Criminal Court in Nampally on Monday remanded Gowri Shankar Gupta, who allegedly duped the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority by invoking the name of realtor major DLF, to police custody for three days.

The court while remanding him to the custody of City Crime Station police asked them to question in the presence of lawyers from morning 10 to 5 pm. The court also directed the CCS police to don’t use any third degree methods while eliciting information from him.

ACB arrests rowdy-sheeter in cash-for-bail case

The Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths on Monday arrested rowdy-sheeter Yadagiri, who allegedly brokered the cash-for-bail deal between the CBI first additional special judge T Pattabhirama Rao and accused in illegal mining case Gali Janardhana Reddy.

While arresting Yadagiri in Kurnool, the ACB officials also conducted raids at his house in Nacharam in Hyderabad and recovered Rs 2.25 crore in cash, valuable documents and other materials in connection with the deal. It may be mentioned that Yadgiri was absconding since the cash-for-bail scam come to light.

Call data leak:HC asks explanation from CBI Joint Director

The High Court on Monday reprimanded Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation V V Lakshminarayana for speaking to media and leaking information to a section of media against YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, who was accused in the disproportionate assets case.

Taking a serious note on the issue, High Court bench headed by interim chief justice P C Ghosh and C Praveen Kumar asked V V Lakshminarayana to submit his explanation by July 9.

Case against man for having son kidnapped

A case has been registered against a man for allegedly getting his seven-year-old son kidnapped and demanding ransom from his grandfather for his release, police said.

On the instructions of the child’s father Amit, Karthik, a resident of Sikandrabad town, was kidnapped by Shivkumar (25) last Wednesday while playing, SSP Gulab Singh said.

While an FIR was lodged by Amit in the case, a ransom of Rs 10 lakhs was demanded by the kidnapper by phone.

36 Naxals arrested in Andhra Pradesh

In a major operation, thirty-six Naxals were today apprehended by the CRPF and state police from Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.

Among those nabbed is top Naxal commander Lambayya who carries a reward of Rs 30,000 on his head.

The security forces also seized a number of weapons and ammunition besides Rs one lakh in cash after the operation.

377 debarred from Haj pilgrimage

At least 377 people have been debarred from undertaking Haj pilgrimage this year after the Central Haj Committee found them allegedly flouting travel norms.

According to Haj committee sources, the permits of the pilgrims were cancelled as they managed to get it for the second time before the completion of a mandatory gap.

According to rules as specified by the committee, a person cannot undertake pilgrimage twice within a three year period.

Many IPS officers promoted in AP

After keeping them on a long wait, the Andhra Pradesh government tonight finally promoted several Indian Police Service officers to the ranks of Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General of Police and gave them new postings in a reshuffle involving 19 officers.

Andhra CID begins probe into leakage of CBI official’s call data

Andhra Pradesh Police’s CID has taken over probe into the leakage of call data records (CDRs) of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana and his friend Vasireddy Chandrabala.

A statement from the office of the director general of police here Friday said the CID has taken over the cases from Hyderabad and Cyberabad police.
The CDRs of Lakshminarayana and his friend were made public by YSR Congress Party last week while alleging a conspiracy by the CBI official against its leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who is currently in jail in the illegal assets case.

TDP Telangana Forum opposes “Rayala-Telangana” state

Telugu Desam Telangana Forum on Friday asserted that it was against any move to create a new state comprising Telangana and parts of Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP wing was reacting to the Congress’ reported move to create a “Rayala-Telangana” state comprising two districts of Rayalaseema and ten of Telangana.

“We will not accept Rayala-Telangana. We only want an exclusive Telangana state, including Hyderabad,” Forum leaders and MLAs Motkupalli Narasimhulu and P Mahender Reddy said here.

Call data leakage,Cyberabad Inspector suspended,summoned by CID

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Friday suspended Nacharam police station Inspector M Srinivasa Rao, who involved in leakage of call data record of the mobile phone of a social activist, Vasireddy Chandrabala, from his duties. The Inspector was summoned by the CID, as the call date case was handed over to the Crime Investigation Department(CID).

The commissioner took this action after the Cyberabad police have reportedly completed investigation into the leakage of call data record of the mobile phone of Vasireddy Chandrabala.

Rosaiah gets relief from ACB court summons

In a major relief to former chief minister and Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday stayed an order of a designated ACB court which directed him to appear before it on August 2 in connection with the Ameerpet land allotment case.

The court while staying the ACB court orders, observed that the orders were in violation of Article 361 of the Constitution. The court said that it was against the Constitution to issue summons to a state governor.

11 IAS officers shuffled in AP

Ending days of uncertainty and seeking to put the administration back on track, the Andhra Pradesh government initiated the process of bureaucratic transfers shifting 11 Indian Administrative Service officers, including Collectors of four districts, in the first round today.

Three IAS officers, who are on wait, have been given new postings while three others transferred out from their current posts today have not been given any new postings in the reshuffle. Importantly, several key posts lying vacant for the past few months, affecting the administration, have been filled up now.

2-year-old boy stolen by co-passenger in train

A two-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly stolen from her mother’s custody by a co-passenger at Bandra terminus here, police said today.

According to police, Puja Singh (20), a resident of Loni in Uttar Pradesh, traveled from Delhi to Mumbai in a train and reached Bandra terminus railway station last evening.

“During the journey, a woman who introduced herself as Niha (30), had befriended Puja Singh,” said a police officer at Nirmal Nagar police station.

26/11: NIA files FIR against Jundal, Kagazi

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday registered an FIR against Abu Jundal, the handler of ten Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai in 2008, for his role in the carnage.

As per reports, the NIA also booked another suspect Fayag Kagazi, besides Jundal, for hatching the 26/11 attacks conspiracy and aiding the Pakistan-trained terrorists.

Jundal was recently arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in connection with terrorism related cases.

He remains in the custody of the Delhi Police.

India not to share info on Abu Jundal with Pakistan

India will not share with Pakistan any information related to Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal who was arrested by the Delhi Police for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai carnage, sources in the Home Ministry said today.

Zaibuddin is being interrogated by law enforcement agencies and the ministry does not want its investigations hampered in any manner by sharing such information with Pakistan.

Don’t link leadership issue with Telangana: Botsa

Stating that the Congress High Command would resolve the Telangana issue soon, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Thursday appealed to party leaders not to link the leadership issue in the State to Telangana statehood demand.

Talking to media persons, Botsa Satyanarayana said that the leadership issue has nothing to do with the demand for Telangana state. “There is no point in linking the Telangana issue with the change in leadership issue,” he said.
