Case registered against doctor, son

Kanpur, July 21: A case has been registered against a doctor and his son here after the dead body of a youth was found under mysterious circumstances, police said today.

According to a police spokesperson, the victim identified as Rajeev Dwivedi was found dead on Monday and his parents in their FIR allege that Rajeev was killed by a doctor’s son, who suspected some foul play between Rajeev and Dr Krishna Devram Shrivastav, a deputy Chief Medical Officer posted at Allahabad.

Police said that all aspects of the case including that of homosexuality is being probed.

Japan PM Taro Aso Dissolved Parliament

Tokyo, July 21: Embattled Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has dissolved parliament Tuesday ahead of a general election late next month, after receiving official endorsement from his cabinet.

“I have decided to dissolve the lower house,” Aso said at a cabinet meeting, according to Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura.

“Dissolution is necessary in order for us to gain more understanding and cooperation of the Japanese people,” Aso said, Kawamura told reporters.

Emperor Akihito would give his symbolic assent, and the lower house would convene at 0400 GMT for the dissolution.

More than 50 militants killed in north-west Pakistan

Islamabad, July 21: Pakistani security forces killed more than 50 Islamic militants in two days of pre-emptive strikes in the north-western district of Lower Dir, officials said Tuesday. Sensex down 125 points in opening trade on profit-booking

Mumbai, July 21: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell over 125 points in early trade today as foreign funds and retail investors preferred to book profits after witnessing strong rally in the past few sessions.

However, firming trends in global markets restricted losses on the domestic bourses here.

The BSE-30 share benchmark Sensex, which had gained over 940 points in the past two sessions, fell by 125.76 points at 15,065.25.

Similarly, the Nifty index on the wide-based National Stock Exchange lost 29.35 points to 4,472.90.

Sony to release film of Jackson’s final days

Los Angeles, July 21: Sony is to release a movie based on more than 80 hours of footage filmed during Michael Jackson’s final days as he was rehearsing for his comeback concerts in London, trade paper Variety reported Monday. Sony is expected to pay over 50 million dollars for the rights to the footage, which was offered by concert promoter AEG to Hollywood film studios over the weekend.

The film will include several videos that were shot and meant to be shown during the concerts, including an alternative version of Jackson’s most famous video, Thriller.
