British delegation calls on AP CM

A British delegation has called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and expressed interest in establishing a ‘British Deputy High Commissionerate’ in the state capital.

The delegation, under the chairmanship of UK Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Jereme Browne, met Mr Reddy at the Andhra Pradesh Assembly yesterday.

Woman Bites Off Man’s Tongue to Safeguard Honour

A 25-year-old woman bit off a man’s tongue when he tried to sexually assault her at her house in Javalgaon village in the district, police said today.

Anita Pawar, who works as a labourer, was alone at her house in the village yesterday when the accused, identified as Dadarao Hare (35), tried to force himself on her, they said.

In a bid to save herself from the attacker, Anita severed Hare’s tongue with her teeth, police said.

AP High Court dismisses petition against Naidu

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest petition filed by YSR Congress president, Y. S. Vijayamma seeking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other central agencies to inquire into alleged disproportionate assets of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice G. Rohini and Justice Asutosh Mohanto said that the writ petition of Ms. Vijayamma, widow of former Andhra Pradesh P Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy does not satisfy parameters of public interest litigation.

Iran Wednesday said it will not accept or deny Israeli allegations of its link in the audacious attack on an Israeli diplomat’s wife and hoped India will clarify the real position.

“We are not accepting or denying this. We don’t know anything,” Iranian ambassador to India Syeyed Mehdi Nabizadeh told reporters here.

He was reacting to Israel’s allegations that Iran was behind the magnetic bomb attack that left Tal Yehoshua Koren badly injured in the heart of the Indian capital Monday.
