Buoyant Churchill ready for Bengaluru FC test

Buoyed by their first win against Sporting Clube de Goa, defending champions Churchill Brothers would be aiming to keep the momentum going as they face table toppers Bengaluru FC on Friday in their I-League clash.

Churchill Brothers, who won their first match against Sporting Clube de Goa from 10 matches, are placed at the bottom with seven points.

They will be looking once again at their new foreign recruits for a win against the Bangalore side, which presently occupies the top position along with Pune FC with 21 points each.

Govt mulls starting Cauvery 5th Stage for B’loreans

Karnataka government is planning to start Cauvery Fifth Stage scheme to cater to the drinking and industrial water needs of new areas of Bangalore city, PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa said today.

As the Cauvery Fourth Stage Phase II is nearing completion in some years from now, the government has been looking for an alternative source of water and thus envisaged Cauvery Fifth Stage project.

Karnataka to set up Nano Park in Bangalore: Siddaramaiah

The Karnataka government plans to establish a ‘Nano Park’ here, which will have nano incubation centre, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today.

“Our government proposes to establish a state-of-the-art Nano Park in Bangalore, which will have nano incubation centre along with necessary physical infrastructure and support system including common facilities,” Siddaramaih said at the inauguration of ‘6th Bangalore India Nano’ here.

“I’m sure this initiative will give a major fillip to the nanotechnology industry to blossom in the state in the coming years,” he added.

Bangalore blasts accused Madani shifted to private hospital

Complying with the Supreme Court directive, Karnataka government today shifted jailed Kerala-based PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, a key accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case, to a private hospital here for treatment.

The apex court on November 18 directed the Karnataka government to shift Madani to Manipal Hospital, subject to the hospital agreeing to take him as a patient for treatment.

Bangalore techie’s rape: Two resort staff detained

Police today detained for questioning two employees of a backwater island resort at nearby Pozhiyur in connection with rape of a 40-year-old Bangalore-based IT professional there last month.

According to police sources, both of them were migrant workers from a north eastern state and they were being questioned. Their antecedents were also being verified, the sources said.

The woman, a professional working with an IT company, was allegedly raped by two persons in the star-category resort in the wee hours on November 28.

The project has been developed by the state-run Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).
