ISLAM AS A RELIGION OF HUMAN DIGNITY AND HONOR

Islam is a religion that aims to ascertain, uplift and sustain the honor and dignity of man. In Islam, man is God’s vicegerent on earth. Every terrestrial component has been created for the purpose of accommodating and facilitating the fulfillment of man’s noble mission of vicegerency. Man resides in the center of Islam’s universe. As such, the creation of man stood for the last segment in a long formative process of creation during which everything that there is came into existence. It signified the pinnacle of God’s act of universe creation that went through six stages.

MOTHER!!!

Ansar Al-‘Adl

This is one of the most convincing things about Islam – the treatment of women in general and especially the high position mothers hold in Islam.Amongst the clearest examples of Islam’s honoring women is the great status of the mother in Islam. Islam commands kindness, respect and obedience to parents and specifically emphasizes and gives preference to the mother as shall be shown in this article. Islam raises parents to a status greater than that found in any other religion or ideology.

The command to be good to one’s parents begins right from the Qur’an. Allah says:

BISMILLAH – IN THE NAME OF ALLAH

Purpose of the Bismillah Of all the good practices founded by Islam is the practice of that a person should begin all his actions in the name of Allah. To remember Allah before any action is a way of admitting that everything is created by Allah and whatever the action or skill is going to be practiced is under the will granted by Allah. And hence granting the man a freedom to exercise his actions with a hint of consciousness that Allah is watching his action and a sense of gratitude to the Creator of the worlds.

MANNERS IN ISLAM – ENTERING A HOUSE

Islam is a way of life, it teaches every human being the values that one needs to fulfill his or her duties. Islam even teaches us the everyday manners. It teaches us to Enter or leave our house with our right foot first, as it was the sunnah (The way The beloved Prophet (SAWS) used to act) Imaam Abul Ala Hasan ibn Ahmad al-Hamazani, a great scholar of Hadith of his time, was so serious about applying this Sunnah, that if someone entered his house with their left foot first, he would request them to go out and re-enter or come in with their right foot first.

RIGHTS OF NEIGHBORS.

Islam has great respect for all the relations and the human interactions a person comes across in his lifetime. Neighbors have always been given an imperative place in Islam. Apart from family and relatives, there is a permanent interaction between two neighbors, Islam emphasizes every Muslim to pay due regards to the rights of the neighbors.

In Surah Nisa (4:36) Allah says:

IMPORTANCE OF HONESTY IN ISLAM

Islam commands the Muslims to be honest to himself and to others. This order recurrently comes in the Noble Qur’an and the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). Islam orders the Muslim to tell the truth even if it is against the ones own interest. Islam orders him not to cheat or betray other people. A Muslim is ordered by Allah to be truthful in his words and deeds, privately and publicly alike.

RESPECT

An Orphan is not one who has no parents; Verily he is an orphan who is deprived of knowledge and adab (respect/etiquette).

This is an Arabic saying which very concisely describes the importance of respect in a person. Indeed, when one is deprived of respect and etiquette, one can stoop to a level that any normal human being would consider unthinkable, let alone any person with Imaan.

A KHUTBAH FOR THE MUSLIM WOMEN – HOW A PEARL DEVELOPS – 3

Dear Sisters, our role models come from the Qur’an. You may have heard the story of the boy and the king. When the entire village became Muslim by the death of that young boy, the king ordered that an enormous fire be kindled and that all those who would not recant their religion be burnt alive. A Mu’minah, stood with her baby over the fire. She looked at her baby, and seeking her child’s weakness and innocence, she considered turning her back. The baby said to her, “What are you waiting for mother. Go forward for you are on the truth!” She nodded.

A KHUTBAH FOR THE MUSLIM WOMEN – HOW A PEARL DEVELOPS – 2

Think about this Muslimah. How did she reach this level of Taqwa where she would sacrifice her hair when today other women do the same to imitate Kafir icons, and her son when other women would die so long as their son stayed home. Indeed, she spent her life in the obedience of Allah, and when exam time came, she passed. Not only did she pass herself, but her children shone with that same beauty of Iman, children that she herself raised.

HOW A PEARL DEVELOPS – A KHUTBAH FOR THE MUSLIM WOMEN – 1

When news of the Christian army that had prepared on the horizons to wipe out Islam reached him, Abu Qudamah ash-Shami moved quickly to the Mimbar of the Masjid. In a powerful and emotional speech, Abu Qudamah ignited the desire of the community to defend their land, Jihad for the sake of Allah. As he left the Masjid, walking down a dark and secluded alley, a women stopped him and said, “As salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah!” Abu Qudamah stopped and did not answer. She repeated her salam again, adding “This is not how pious people should act.” She stepped forward from the shadows.

TIPS ON SAFEGUARDING AND IMPROVING YOUR PRAYER

The following is some advice to help you preserve and safeguard your prayer, and perform it in a proper manner, which makes it more likely to be accepted,

• Perform Wudhoo’ (ablution) properly because the Prophet, sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:

“Allah made compulsory upon Himself to Admit into Paradise any Muslim who properly performed Wudhoo’, then prays two Rak’ah with attentiveness and submissiveness.”
[Muslim]

• Leave your house in the state of Wudhoo’ because the Prophet, sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:

A BELIEVER LIVES BETWEEN HOPE AND FEAR

A believer lives his life being aware of two things: the first is his shortcomings, sins, and whether his good deeds are being wasted or whether he is becoming deceived due to performing good deeds and becoming complacent and self-satisfied. The second is hoping for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty and His great mercy, which results from the first. Some scholars said, “Whilst the slave is on his path towards Allah, he is like a bird with two wings which it requires to fly properly and maintain its balance with; these ‘wings’ are hope and fear.

10 THINGS TO FOLLOW IN ISLAM FOR A BETTER LIFE IN THIS WORLD

Islam is the perfect way of life for those who know it as it is and Quran is a guide for the whole humanity to have a better life in this world as well as in the Akhira (the hereafter). Following are the 10 interesting lessons we can learn from the Quran to live a good life InShaAllah:

The most selfish one letter word: “I” – Avoid it!

“And he had property (or fruit) and he said to his companion, in the course of mutual talk: “I am more than you in wealth and stronger in respect of men.” [Surah Al-Kahf 18:34]

The most satisfying two-letter word: “WE” – Use it!

DUNYA – THE TEMPORAL LIFE

The life of this world is temporary and short. Allah Ta’ala did not create the life of this world to fulfill our desires. Allah Ta’ala has created the life of Akhirah for fulfilling our desires. The place where all our desires will be fulfilled is Jannah (Paradise). The life of this world is to prepare ourselves for this Akhirah and mere fulfillment of our necessities. Once the necessities are fulfilled we have to strive hard for the Akhirah. Even these necessities should be kept to a minimum and simple life needs to be adopted to focus our efforts for the Akhirah.

Why Should I Study?

Many years ago in Uzbekistan, a baby boy was born blind. His Mother, the strong Mu’minah that she was, did not lose sight of He who had the Power to cure him. She prayed and prayed for her sons sight. And within a few years the boy regained his eyes.

Voting Values: A Muslim Perspective

(By Dr. Wael Shihab)Voting and elections are among the most controversial issues in the world. Though the majority of peoples—with different backgrounds and beliefs—show interest in voting and choosing their political leaders and representatives, some people still refrain from voting for various reasons.

KHUSHOO’ IN SALAAT

Ibn Al Qayyim (RA) in his book Al-Waabil Al Sayyib writes:

“When it comes to prayer, people are of five levels:

The first is the level of the one who wrongs himself and is negligent. He does not do wudoo’ properly, or pray at the right time or make sure he does all the necessary parts of prayer.

The second is one who observes the outward essentials of prayer, prays on time and does wudoo’, but he has lost the battle against his own self and is overwhelmed with waswaas.

A STARTER KIT FOR GOOD DEEDS

For beginners like me, who want to start their Aamaal (Good deeds) to get closer to Allah, here is a suggestive list of Aamaal we can focus on to start with:

1. Try to be consistent in Salaath, even if it be one salaath to start with (For those who habitually miss all 5 salaah daily) and try to improve daily to achieve the target of praying 5 times which is Fardh (Obligatory/Compulsory/Reason of our existence in this world).

WHAT A BAD SERVANT WE ARE!

What a bad servant of the Lord is he! I am speaking of a servant who fits the following description:

1. He asks for forgiveness (maghfirah), while he is actively engaged in sinful disobedience (ma’siya).

2. He behaves in a humbly submissive manner, so that he may be credited with loyalty (amana), but he is only pretending, to hide his disloyalty (khiyanah).

3. He forbids what is wrong, but does not refrain from it himself.

4. He enjoins what is right, but does not act upon his own instructions.

THIRDLY: Maintaining ties of kinship

Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Whoever would like to see his provision expanded and his life extended, let him maintain his ties of kinship.”

So are you maintaining your ties of kinship?

FOURTHLY: Worshipping Allah the Almighty and making time for this so that you can give it your total attention and full care.

Allah says in a qudsi hadith (i.e. in the words of the Prophet (SAWS)):

IMAGINED SUCCESS MAY BE FAILURE OR IMAGINED FAILURE MAY BE SUCCESS

Allah tells us that we will be tested. He also makes it clear to us what is expected from us when we undergo these trials and what our reward will be if we are successful. He says:

“Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods, lives and the fruits (of your toil) but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. Those who, when misfortune strikes them, say:
‘Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him is our return.’
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord and it is those who are rightly guided.”
