China ready to talk with India over Lakhvi

Amid India’s concerns over China’s move to block action against Pakistan over release of Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, China has proposed to discuss the issue with India in the joint mechanism on counter-terrorism.

In the first detailed comment from China over its move to block action against Pakistan in the UN Security Council, a senior Chinese official said the two countries are victims of terrorism and are working quite well to combat the menace.

Egypt vows to continue Sinai offensive until ISIS eliminated

Egypt has vowed to continue an offensive in the restive Sinai Peninsula, a day after Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) killed more than 100 people in a series of simultaneous attacks in the region.

Egypt’s army said that operations will not stop until the area was cleared of all ‘terrorist concentrations’, reported the BBC.

Yesterday’s attacks targeted military checkpoints in Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah.

It was one of the largest ever coordinated offensives in the area by ISIS’ local affiliate, Sinai Province.

SC stays execution of non-bailable warrant against Swamy over ‘hate speech’

The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the execution of a non-bailable warrant against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy after he was charged by an Assam court for an alleged hate speech.

After the verdict, Swamy took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

“SC today stayed the arrest warrant issued by Karimganj Court. I will now move court to seek the quashing of the Complaint itself soon,” he posted.

The Karimganj Court had issued summons against him in March after he had allegedly delivered an inflammatory speech in Kaziranga University. (ANI)

A goldsmith from Coimbatore has designed a golden helmet out of 250mg gold to create awareness amongst people to wear helmet while riding.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu High Court has made the wearing of helmets by riders mandatory.

In support of the court’s decision, the goldsmith, Mariappan, took the oppurtinity to create the golden helmet.

According to Mariappan, many people lose their lives in accidents by ignoring the basic safety by not wearing helmets, and succumb to head injuries.

It took the goldsmith more than 12 hours to forge the golden helmet.

The team from Mount Sinai Hospital focused on evidence for the existence of a “social map” in the hippocampus, the part of the brain that remembers locations in physical space and the order in which events occur.

U.S. confirms Pak has shared no evidence of India’s role in cross-border terrorism

Pakistan has not shared with the United States any evidence of India’s involvement in terrorist activities within its boundaries, the North American nation confirmed.

The statement came after Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary claimed during a recent visit to Washington D.C. that the Islamic Republic had proof of India’s involvement in such activities. Rijiju says ‘unaware’ of flight delay to ferry him

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said he was unaware that an Air India flight was allegedly delayed and three passengers had to be de-boarded around a week ago to accommodate him and an aide at the last minute.

“Usually, I am informed about all my travel arrangements while I am on an official assignment,” Rijiju told IANS from Darjeeling, where he has gone to check the damage caused by landslides in the district.

Washington, July 2 (IANS) Men with low levels of testosterone are at increased risk of suffering from depression than those of the general population, new research says.

“In an era where more and more men are being tested for Low T – or lower levels of testosterone – there is very little data about the men who have borderline low testosterone levels,” said lead researcher Michael Irwig, associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University.

“We felt it important to explore the mental health of this population,” Irwig said.

AI flight row: J-K Dy CM says media making ‘mountain out of a molehill’

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Thursday said that people are making a ‘mountain out of a molehill’ over the delay of the Air India flight by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.

“Our flight got preponed following which we rushed there but the pilot behaved rudely with us and instigated passengers. A mountain of a molehill is being made out of this. I had a confirmed ticket; it isn’t a bus that they’ll shut the door. It needs to be enquired as to why they changed the time,” said Singh.

71-year-old man among four held for eve-teasing

The roving ‘SHE Teams’ that keeps a hawkish eye on eve-teasers have arrested four men, including a septuagenarian, for allegedly teasing women in separate cases in the city, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, all the four accused were arrested over the past couple of days.

“71-year-old Mohammad Shadiq Ali, a retired employee, who was sitting at Koti bus stop here and was trying to touch ladies inappropriately. The victims who were sitting at the bus stop beside him were frightened by his acts and were shifting to other places,” a release from Hyderabad Police said.
