Hussey not sure if he is ready for India coach’s job

Former Australia captain Michael Hussey said he was surprised by reports that just-retired Test captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had suggested his name for the coach’s job of Indian cricket team once Duncan Fletcher’s contract expired at the end of World Cup 2015.

“I’m not sure if I’m really ready for that sort of challenge,” said Hussey after he led Sydney Thunder to a win over the defending Big Bash League champions, Perth at the WACA last night.

“Thanks, M S, if it’s true … But, I’m still playing!” he was quoted as saying in Sydney Morning Herald.

Tulsi Gabbard calls on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

Gunmen kill 3 Sunni clerics in Iraqi city of Basra

Gunmen killed three Sunni clerics near the mostly Shiite city of Basra in southern Iraq, a government spokesman said today, an apparent sectarian attack that drew immediate calls for calm.

Interior Ministry spokesman Saad Maan told The Associated Press that the assailants ambushed a car last night carrying the clerics in the mostly Sunni district of Bab al-Zubeir near Basra, shooting dead the three and seriously wounding two other clerics travelling with them.

The ministry, he said, was investigating the killings. He gave no other details.

Badaun rape incident: Akhilesh assures stern action

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has taken strong exception to the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl by two constables inside a police station in Badaun and directed officials to make all out efforts to arrest them.

Instructing that a serious disciplinary action be taken against the culprits, Yadav has asked for all out efforts to apprehend the two constables, an official spokesman said.

The Chief Minister ordered that a senior police officer be rushed from the headquarters to coordinate with the Badaun police for effective investigations, he said.

Saudi police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a 2011 protest movement organised by Shiite residents of the kingdom’s restive Eastern Province, the interior ministry said today.

Muntadher Ali Saleh al-Sabity was detained yesterday evening in an operation in the town of Awamiya, the official SPA news agency quoted a ministry spokesman as saying.

Sabity is one of 23 Saudis wanted in connection with protests and violence in Eastern Province, home to more than two million Shiites in the Sunni-majority kingdom.
