There is 323 acre Waqf land under Dargah Hazrat Hakeem Shah Baba at Jubilee Hills. Miscreants and land grabbers are eyeing on the valuable land worth thousands of crores of rupees. Surprisingly despite it being such a valuable land, the state Waqf Board has not fenced it in an effective way. Consequently miscreants are trying to gobble up the land in one way or other. Jaipur: Letter threatening terror strikes found in temple; police step up security measures

An unattended letter threatening to carry out terror strikes was on Wednesday found at the premises of the famous Khatushayamji temple in Sikar district in the state prompting the police to strengthen security arrangements, police said.

The handwritten letter was picked by a man who informed the temple authorities and the police about it. “There is no mention of any specific target in the handwritten letter which is a photocopy and not the original.

Chauhan appointed MD and CEO of Oriental Bank of Commerce

Following the central government’s directive of splitting the portfolio of chairman and managing director (MD) of PSU banks, Animesh Chauhan has been appointed the CEO and MD of Oriental Bank of Commerce, the bank said Wednesday.

According to the directive, for the first time in India, PSU banks will have a non-executive chairman, giving operational responsibility to managing director and chief executive officer (CEO).

Animesh Chauhan is the executive director of Central Bank of India, another state-owned bank, and comes with extensive experience in the banking sector.

Gold edges up on seasonal offtake amid global bullishness

Snapping a two-session downtrend, gold prices staged a modest rebound at the domestic bullion market in Mumbai due to renewed demand from jewellery stockists and retailers, supported by firm overseas sentiment.

Elsewhere, silver also recouped some overnight losses on the back of higher industrial demand. Standard gold (99.5 purity) firmed up by Rs 60 to end Rs 26,720 per 10 grams from Tuesday’s level of Rs 26,660.

Samsung is preparing to launch its first new all-in-one desktop computer Ativ One 7 Curved that will have a curved screen just as its TVs.

Samsung has already been offering laptops and Chrome books. The idea of the Ativ One 7 Curved with 27-inch all-in-one, came partly from Samsung’s TVs that already have curved screens, reported PCWorld.

The new desktop would look like a 27-inch curved TV, with all the PC components at the back of the monitor.

An unknown vehicle hit a woman at Malkaram village of Shamsabad leaving her dead. According to details B Shobha (40) R/O of Ralaguda was returning home from Chevella when an unknown vehicle hit her. She died on the spot. Shamsabad rural sub-inspector Mohammed Khaleel Pasha registered a case and began investigations.

Tech giant Apple has been granted a patent for a stylus design of a smart pen capable of detecting hand movements that enables translation into digital line drawing s and text, adding into the list of their new innovations.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has patented Apple’s communicating stylus that employs accelerometers, wireless communication hardware and onboard storage to transfer hand-written notes and drawings on to the display of a digital device, the AppleInsider reported.

212 survivors from gutted Italian ferry join families

A total of 212 people rescued from the Italian-flagged Norman Atlantic ferry landed at the port of Brindisi in southern Italy Tuesday night, Italy’s navy said Wednesday.

The survivors disembarked from military vessel San Giorgio, which also carried the bodies of five victims of the blaze that broke out on the ferry early Sunday morning, Xinhua reported.

At least 11 people died in the blaze or during evacuation, and 427 people were rescued.

Govt to bring amendments to 5 green laws in Budget Session

The government will bring amendments to five key environment laws enacted between 1971 and 1986 in the Budget Session of Parliament, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said today.

He said bringing changes to the green laws, which were reviewed by a high-level panel, is in line with “current requirements” and it is the priority of his ministry in the new year.

Global IT major Infosys said Wednesday that Omkar Goswami will retire from its board of directors effective Dec 31 in accordance with its retirement policy.

“Goswami has been a part of the Infosys journey for more than a decade and the company has benefited from his rich experience as a professional economist”, non-executive chairman in Infosys K.V. Kamath said.

Neonatal HBV vaccine reduces liver cancer risk

Neonatal hepatitis B vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of liver cancer and other liver diseases in young adults, says a study.

The findings are based on long-term outcomes from a controlled trial of neonatal HBV (hepatitis B virus) vaccinations that were conducted between 1983 and 1990 in Qidong County, a rural area in China with a high incidence of HBV-related primary liver cancer (PLC) and other liver diseases.

Don’t clear ‘Gopala Gopala’, Hindu groups ask censor board

Even as protests continued over Aamir Khan’s film “PK”, Hindu groups Wednesday urged the censor board not to clear upcoming Telugu movie “Gopala Gopala” saying it also hurts religious sentiments of Hindus.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) have urged the Central Board of Film Certification not to clear the film which had “objectionable” scenes.

In a representation to the CBFC regional director, the groups said some scenes from a teaser of the film were objectionable. They said Hindu gods and goddesses were shown in an inappropriate manner.

Hyundai clocks record domestic sales in 2014

Automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Wednesday reported a record domestic sales at over 4.10 lakh units in 2014 from 3.80 lakh units sold during 2013.

The company’s yearly domestic sales increased by 7.89 percent to 4.10 lakh units.

According to the company, the yearly performance led to its highest market share of 21.6 percent in the 16 years since the company has been operating in India.

New Health Policy 2015 placed in public domain by Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday placed the draft copy of the National Health Policy 2015 in the public domain to seek suggestions, comments and views from various stakeholders.

The Policy addresses the urgent need to improve the performance of health systems.

It is being formulated in the last year of the Millennium Declaration and its Goals, in the global context of all nations committed to moving towards universal health coverage.

New Year celebrations banned in Karachi

Road blocks will be put in place in Karachi Wednesday night to prevent any New Year celebrations from taking place.

The road blocks will be erected in the evening and the Sindh government has decided to deploy 7,000 policemen all over the city, Dawn online reported.

The decision to ban New Year celebrations was announced earlier this month by Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui.

“The country’s current security situation also does not warrant New Year celebrations,” Siddiqui said.

He said hotels and other places would not be permitted to host celebratory events to the New Year.
