Kejriwal urges people to join hands to fight black money

The Aam Aadmi Party, which is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, on Sunday appealed to the people of the nation to join hands collectively to fight the menace of black money.

“Almost 50 lakhs have been collected in the form of donations…. I appeal to the people of Delhi and the nation that this is their fight and we have to collectively fight together to weed out black money from politics and this is a way out to do and that common man contributes in politics,” party chief Arvind Kejriwal told media persons at a luncheon hosted by the AAP here.

US conducting roughly 85 pc of airstrikes against Islamic State in Iraq, Syria: Report

A Pentagon report suggests that the United States is carrying out roughly 85 percent of the airstrikes against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

According to a detailed report obtained by FOX News, US fighter planes and drones have conducted 819 strikes, compared to 157 from the 10 other countries.

US, along with Australia, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have been jointly conducting airstrikes on areas controlled by the Islamic State.

Modi government still in honeymoon period: Yechuri

Hitting out at BJP-led Central government, senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechuri today said the Narendra Modi government is enjoying the “honeymoon phase”, and people will soon start reacting to its “failures”.

“The Modi-led government is currently in honeymoon period.

The people will soon start reacting to the failures of this government,” Yechuri told reporters here.

The Central government has failed to deliver the promises made during the Lok Sabha elections, he said.

The present government is no different from the former UPA-led formation, he said.

50 IS jihadists killed in Kobane in 24 hours: monitor

At least 50 Islamic State group jihadists have been killed in the past 24 hours in clashes, suicide bombings and US-led air strikes in Syria’s Kobane, a monitor said today.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the number of deaths was one of the highest daily tolls for the Sunni Muslim
extremist group since it launched an assault on the strategic town on the Turkish border in September.

The Britain-based monitoring group said at least five of those killed were suicide bomb attackers, two of them involved
in attacks on the border crossing that separates Kobane from Turkey.

Minor tribal girl gangraped; six held

A 17-year-old tribal girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by seven youths for nine days in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district, police said today.

Six of the accused in the case were today arrested from separate places under Jashpur police station limits, Station
House Officer GS Dubey told PTI over phone.

The victim, a native of Tapkara region, was abducted on November 18 while she was heading to her aunt’s place on the
outskirts of Jashpur.

4 from Bangladeshi-origin UK family ‘join IS’

A Bangladeshi-origin family in Britain is being investigated by the Scotland Yard after it emerged that four of its members may have travelled to Syria to fight with the dreaded Islamic State (IS) militant group.

The alleged jihadists include two siblings aged 17 and 20 from Camden in north London, and their cousins aged 19 and 22
from the West Midlands region in the north of England,according to ‘The Sunday Times.’

2,868 animals bound for Nepal festival seized in Bihar

Security forces have seized 2,868 animals bound for Nepal’s mass animal sacrifice festival Gadhimai, an official said here Sunday.

“We have saved the lives of 2,868 animals by confiscating them and stopping their illegal transportation to Nepal for sacrifice,” Additional Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) S.K. Singhal told IANS.

Gadhimai festival, where the largest animal slaughter in the world takes place, concluded Saturday. The festival takes place every five years and 70 percent of the sacrificed animals come from India.

At least 15 killed, 14 wounded in ‘terrorist attack’ in China’s Xinjiang region

An attack in the western Chinese region of Xinjiang reportedly killed 15 people and wounded 14 others.

According to the BBC, state media said that the violence started when a group of “terrorists” attacked civilians in Shache county, 200km from the regional capital of Kashgar.

China’s state-run Xinhua news agency reported that the assailants hurled bombs at people on a street lined with food stalls, before stabbing them with knives.

The region has been a witness to raging violence that has claimed up to 150 lives this year.

According to CNN, Jiang resigned on Saturday after losing the first election since protests erupted over a controversial trade deal with mainland China.

The ruling party Kuomintang was able to garner only 40 percent of the vote, while the Democratic Progressive Party won with more than 47 percent of the vote.
