Haryana sisters thrash molester as passengers look on

An incident of two sisters courageously taking on a youth who was harassing them while other passengers in the bus remained mute spectators has come to light in Haryana’s Rohtak town, police officials said unday.

The brave girls, Aarti and Pooja, thrashed the youth even as they were themselves assaulted by him. The girls hit the youth with a belt and their hands and legs in the incident that took place last week.

The matter came to light after a woman travelling in the same state transport bus recorded the incident on her mobile phone.

Sharmila’s Yatra in Telangana from Dec 8

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila will begin the Paramarsa Yatra in Telangana region from Mahbubnagar district on December 8 to complete the unfinished Odarpu Yatra.

Speaking to media during the release of the Paramarsa Yatra poster here on Sunday, the Party Working President for Telangana State, P Srinivasa Reddy said: “Sharmila will begin the Yatra on December 8 from Kalwakurthy assembly segment and will cover 10 constituencies as 18 persons have died in the district on hearing the news of YSR’s demise. The Yatra will be rounded off in the district at Jadcherla.”

Beckham, eldest son involved in car crash

Retired English footballer David Beckham and his eldest son Brooklyn were involved in a car crash, local reports said.

The Independent said Sunday, the accident occurred after the former England captain picked up his 15-year-old son from a football match outside Arsenal’s training ground in Hertfordshire Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Beckham and his son were left “shaken” but unhurt after the accident, while two passengers in the other vehicle were also uninjured.

Delhi sees pleasant Sunday, Monday to be similar

It was a pleasant weekend in the capital with maximum temperature being recorded five notches above season’s average at 30 degrees Celsius. The met department has forecast similar weather Monday.

“Monday’s morning will be foggy but sky will be clear during the day,” said an official of India Meteorological Department.

The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to hover around 30 and 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The minimum temperature Sunday settled three notches above season’s average at 13.5 degrees Celsius.

Muslims face worst job discrimination in Britain: Study

Muslims in Britain constitute the worst off community when it comes to employment opportunities, a new research has found, according to media reports Sunday.

Muslim men in Britain were up to 76 percent less likely to have a job of any kind compared to white, male British Christians of the same age and with the same qualifications, The Independent reported, citing a study by researchers Nabil Khattab and Ron Johnston.

Muslim women in the country, on the other hand, were up to 65 percent less likely to be employed than white Christian counterparts, the study found, furthermore.

Petrol, diesel prices cut again this month

With international crude oil rates slipping towards $70 a barrel, state-run oil marketers Sunday cut petrol and diesel rates further respectively by 91 paise and 84 paise a litre, effective midnight.

“The prices of petrol and diesel were last revised downwards from Nov 1 by Rs.2.41/litre and Rs.2.25/litre respectively (including state levies at Delhi) on the back of declining international oil prices,” Indian Oil Corp. said in a release here.

David Beckham shaken after car crash in UK

Former England football captain David Beckham and his 15-year-old son Brooklyn were left shaken after they were involved in a car crash in London.

The accident occurred after Beckham was picking up his eldest son from a football match at Arsenal grounds in

The 39-year-old football star and his son were unhurt after the incident and two passengers in another vehicle were

Men continue to contract HIV+ more than women

A total of 31,966 people tested positive for AIDS in last six years in Madhya Pradesh, according to MP AIDS Control Society.
Of the total number, 60.50 per cent constitute male and experts said men contracted HIV (Human Immunodeficiency
Virus) primarily due to unsafe sex.

Indore was among places where the spread of disease was high in the state.

“Men have fallen prey to the disease mainly due to unsafe sex practice,” city-based government Maharaja Yeswantrao hospital’s Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Department Head Dr Shivshanker Sharma told PTI today.

Mass animal sacrifice at Nepal’s Gadhimai festival sparks global condemnation

The slaughter of more than 5,000 buffaloes at the Gadhimai animal sacrifice festival in Nepal has garnered global condemnation.

According to The Independent, several animal charities had worked to stop the slaughter – the first of its kind since an estimated 200,000 animals and birds were sacrificed in 2009 – but only succeeded in pressuring the Indian Government into stopping animals being transported across the border.

It is reported that more numbers of animals and birds await slaughter at the world’s largest animal sacrifice ritual in Nepal.

Sudden high voltage rush kills one, injures two women

A man was today killed and two women were injured after they allegedly came in direct contact with a sudden rush of high voltage at their residences in Dhari village of Pauri district here, police said today.

The victims were electrocuted after a sudden burst of electric voltage was transmitted to the residences in their
village, according to Uttarakhand Urja Nigam Spokesperson,Madhusudan.

Jharkhand: Maoist arrested in Giridih

The police on Saturday arrested a hardcore Maoist from Jharkhand’s Giridih district and recovered explosives along with arms and ammunition .

The Superintendent of Police (SP), Giridih, Kranti Kumar, said that the nabbed Maoist had been identified as Dinesh Manjhi and was a hardcore leader and platoon commander of a Maoist organization in Jharkhand.
