Couple tips waiter 100 dollars for bad service on 66 dollar bill!

An Iowa-based couple left their waiter a 100 dollar tip for a 66.65 dollar meal even after receiving a bad service at Kazoku sushi restaurant in Cedar Rapids on their sixth wedding anniversary.

The wife Makenzie Schultz took it to her Facebook account to explain that their service “sucked,” as the waiter took 20 minutes to get water, 40 minutes for an appetizer and over an hour for their entree, because the issue was being short staffed, not the server, Us Magazine reported.

12 killed, 45 injured in train collision near Gorakhpur in UP

At least 12 persons were killed and 45 injured when a speeding passenger train allegedly jumped signal and collided with another train which was taking a turn on a loop line near here last night.

The Maduadeeh-Lucknow Krishak Express hit Barauni bound express train from Lucknow from the side while it was on the loop line at Nandanagar railway crossing, about seven kilometers from here, at around 11 PM, Chief Public Relation Officer of North- Eastern Railway Alok Kumar Singh told PTI today.

Three coaches of Barauni Express were badly damaged in the collision.

Swachh Bharat: Govt offices to close early today

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) some of the central government offices will be closed at 2 pm today, in connection with the arrangements for the nation-wide launch of Swachh Bharat campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.

All the government offices located in Rashtrapati Bhawan and Parliament House would remain closed till 10.30 am tomorrow.

Besides, all the central government offices in south block, north block and Shastri Bhawan will be closed at 2 pm today.

Gold, silver futures fall on weak global cues

Gold and silver futures moved down as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak global trend.

Gold futures fell 0.60 per cent to Rs. 26,965 per 10 gram today while silver futures moved down by 1.11 per cent to Rs. 38,859 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for delivery in October were trading lower by Rs. 164, or 0.60 per cent, at Rs. 26,965 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 273 lots. On similar lines, metal prices for delivery in December eased by Rs. 154, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs. 26,818 per 10 gram in 273 lots.

Sensex trades flat; banking stocks plunge

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Wednesday was trading flat at 22.07 points or 0.08 percent down as banking stocks dropped.

Good buying was observed in IT and technology, media and entertainment (TECK) sectors, while selling pressure was seen in banking and oil and gas sectors.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,681.47 points, was trading at 26,608.44 points (at 09.48 a.m.) in the early session, down 22.07 points or 0.08 percent from the previous day’s close at 26,630.51 points.

1 tsp light soy sauce

1 Tbsp corn starch

1 stalk spring onions

1 handful cashew nuts washed and cut

1/3 cabbage sliced

1 clove garlic

1 Tbsp red chilli paste/ sambal oelek

1 tsp brown sugar

2 tsp minced ginger

2 tsp light soya sauce

2 sliced green chilies

1 Tbsp tamarind pulp

4-5 leaves bok choy

1 handful coriander leaves

Crunchy Vegetable Stir-fry

Ingredients

250 gm cauliflower florets

250 gm broccoli florets

2 sliced spring onions

125 gm snow peas

2 peeled carrots

150 gm asparagus

2 Tbsp oil

2 slices of bread

Salt and pepper

Topping

1 tsp grated lemon rind

1 tsp chopped garlic

3 Tbsp chopped parsley

Method

Remove crusts from bread and slice into strips. Bake at 160 degrees C till crisp.

Top and tail snow peas, pare and slice asparagus stems. Pare carrots into thin ribbons.

Order Issued for Compulsory Registration of Placement Agencies for Domestic Workers

The city government on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that it has issued an order for compulsory registration of private placement agencies providing domestic workers while making it clear that all such unregistered firms will have to shut down after October 25.

The Delhi government told a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R S Endlaw that an executive order of September 22 has been officially notified on September 25 in compliance with its direction given on December 24, 2010 and subsequently on December 18, 2013.

Iran has reportedly postponed the execution of a woman who was to be put to death on Tuesday for allegedly killing her attempted rapist.

Phelps says ‘deeply sorry’ after being arrested for ‘driving under influence’

American swimming great Michael Phelps has said that he is deeply sorry after he was arrested for drink driving.

The authorities in Baltimore, Maryland, revealed that Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence. They said that he was stopped for speeding after being caught going 84 miler-per-hour in a 45 miles-per-hour zone on Tuesday.

The traffic police said in a statement that Phelps was co-operative but failed a series of standard field sobriety tests, adding that he was charged and released, The BBC reported.

Special Drive to Check Unauthorised Parking

Delhi Traffic Police will carry out a special drive today during which unauthorisedly parked vehicles from roads and ‘No Parking’ areas will be towed away as part of “Swachchh Bharat Mission”.

“All traffic circles shall carry out the drive in their respective areas. A total of 82 teams of traffic police officers along with cranes shall patrol their areas to tow away and prosecute unauthorisedly parked vehicles on roads,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.
