Weekly alcohol consumption can make young men’s sperm quality bad

A new study has found that moderate weekly consumption of alcohol by healthy young men can make their sperm quality poor.

The findings were based on 1221 Danish men between the ages of 18 and 28, all of whom underwent a medical examination to assess their fitness for military service, which is compulsory in Denmark, between 2008 and 2012.

A new study has revealed that energy drinks have negative effects of on the athletes by increasing the frequency of insomnia, nervousness and the level of stimulation in them.

The study from Camilo Jose Cela University (UCJC) showed that athletes increased their sporting performance by between 3 percent and 7 percent.

Uefa Cup: Tottenham Hotspur draw match with Besiktas

EPL’s Tottenham Hotspur have drawn their Uefa Europa league Cup match with Turkish club Besiktas one all.

The match was played at the Tottenham dugout at White Hart Lane. Tottenham scored first in the 27th minute of the match through a low shot into the Besiktas goal by Harry Kane, reports the BBC.

The equaliser from Besiktas came through a penalty scored by Demba Ba.

The penalty strike denied Tottenham their first win in Group C of the Europa League.

The Indian boxing team returned from Incheon, South Korea, during the wee hours of Friday, after giving a commendable performance in the Asian Games.

Among those who returned were medal winners Mary Kom and Sarita Devi, who had cried foul after losing her semi-final bout to her South Korean opponent.

When asked about her emotional protest against the referee’s decision during boxing semi finals and later refusing to take the medal, Sarita Devi said, “I don’t want to talk more about that, whatever I did was for the country. Everyone saw the match and everyone knows what went on.”

Portuguese and Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed happiness over reports that Manchester United fans paid for a plane to fly over El Madrigal with a banner urging the winger to return to the Old Trafford outfit.

A United fan group arranged for the plane to carry the message, which read ‘Come home Ronaldo, United Reel’, during Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Villarreal last Saturday.

Despite being in the middle of the La Liga game, Ronaldo was captured taking a glance at the banner, reports Metro News.

The Indian men’s kabaddi team clinched its seventh successive gold medal at the Asian Games after coming from behind to beat a spirited Iran 27-25 in the summit clash in Incheon, South Korea on Friday.

The Indian team, which has been winning gold ever since the sport was introduced on the Asiad roster in 1990, was given a massive scare by Iran, who had finished runners-up in the 2010 edition as well.

The Iranians took a massive 10-point lead in the first 20 minutes before the Indians got their act together to nullify the deficit and edge past in the closing few minutes of the match.

Resveratrol, an antioxidant derived from grapes and found in wine, can inhibit growth of the bacteria that causes acne, a new research shows.

Researchers from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) also found that combining resveratrol with a common acne medication – benzoyl peroxide – may enhance the drug’s ability to kill the bacteria and could translate into new treatments.

The Indian women’s kabaddi team beat Iran 31-21 to bag the gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games.

Yesterday, the Indian Men’s Hockey team also defeated Pakistan 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out to clinch the Gold medal in the hockey finals of the Asian Games 2014.

Tatkal tickets to cost more starting today

In order to increase the revenues, the Indian Railways has decided to sell Tatkal tickets at a higher rate. Passengers buying Tatkal tickets for the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani and 80 other trains will have to shell out more money starting Friday.

Half of the tatkal tickets on 80 trains have become costlier with the railways deciding to partially implement the dynamic fare system under which charges will depend on demand.

The decision, clearly aimed at mopping up more revenues by the cash-strapped railways, comes in the midst of festival season when there is a big rush of train travellers.

Uefa opens disciplinary proceedings against European football quartet

Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against four European football clubs Galatasaray, Basel, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

While Galatasaray, Basel, and Borussia Dortmund are being probed for crowd disturbances in Champions League games, Arsenal is facing lesser charges of failing to stop flares entering their ground in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray.

In Liverpool’s tie in Basel, a battery appeared to be thrown towards the assistant referee, while flares were lit among Dortmund fans in Anderlecht.

The cases will be dealt with by Uefa’s disciplinary body on 16 October.

Delhi HC notice to BCI for derecognising DU’s Law Faculty

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Bar Council of India (BCI) and Delhi Bar Council (DBC) on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking to quash the BCI’s order last month that law graduates who passed out from the three centres of Delhi University’s Law Faculty this year cannot be enrolled as advocates.

A division bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice RS Endlaw sought response from BCI and DBC by November 05 on a PIL filed by Vijay Kumar Chaurasia, an assistant professor at the Law Faculty.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry says India inflexible on Siachen

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tasnim Aslam, on Thursday said India had never responded positively on proposals regarding the demilitarization of the Siachen Glacier.

Addressing a weekly briefing in Islamabad, Aslam said a proposal to demilitarize Siachen and declare it as a Peace Park had cropped up during bilateral discussions in the past, but Indian policy towards resolution of this issue always remained inflexible.
