Pope Francis believes guardian angels are companions in life

Pope Francis recently asked everyone to be like children who pay attention to their traveling companion during his homily for the Feast of Holy Guardian Angels.

Pope said that the child was the symbol of docility and helplessness and advised to let go off a “careerist” mentality, and adopt a child’s view to things, CNA reported.

According to the tradition of the Church, Pope said that the guardian angel was real and each of them had one, who protected them and helped to make them aware of things.

Saudi Grand Mufti calls IS extremists ‘enemies of humanity’

Saudi Arabia’s top religious figure Grand Mufti of the Ka’aba Sheikh Abdulaziz al-Sheikh said in his annual Haj sermon that the extremist Islamic State militants were the enemies of humanity.

Grand Mufti said while addressing millions of Muslims from around the world in Makkah for the Haj that conspiracies were being plotted against Muslims and that some actions in the Muslim world were enemies of humanity.

According to Dawn, he urged Muslims around the world to avoid sectarianism which he believed was weakening the religion.

US awards for Indian-born Stanford scientist, scholar

Indian-born scientist Arogyaswami Joseph Paulraj and mathematics scholar Himanshu Asnani at Stanford University in the Silicon Valley have been awarded prizes by Marconi Society in Washington.

Paulraj, 69, was honoured with the prestigious award for his pioneering work on developing wireless technology to transmit and receive data at high speed.

Asnani, 27, received the Society’s Paul Baran young scholar award for contributing to point-to-point and multi-terminal channel coding and source coding problems.

Man killed by teenaged son in Muzafarnagar

A man was shot dead allegedly by his 15-year-old son, who was enraged over his extra-marital affair in Machroli village in Shamli district.

55-year-old Omvir Singh was sleeping in his house last night when his son allegedly killed him, police said on Saturday.

The teenager, who has been arrested, told police that he was upset over his father’s alleged affair.

World’s first healthy baby born to womb transplant woman

A 36 years old woman in Sweden gave birth to the world’s first ever healthy baby after she received a womb transplant.

Dr Mats Brannstrom, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Gothenburg and colleagues had transplanted wombs into nine other women over the last two years as part of a study, but complications forced removal of two of the organs and there arose many other medical anomalies, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The baby boy was born prematurely but healthy last month, and mother and child are now at home and doing well.

Odisha: 11 killed as mini truck rams into tree

Eleven people were killed and 30 others were injured when a mini truck carrying around 50 members of a ‘tribal opera group’ rammed into a tree on Chandahandi Ghat in Nabarangpur district, police said on Saturday.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Umerkote Gopinath Manipatro said all the people belonged to Dabugam area.

They were going to Chandahandi for a performance on the occasion of the Dussehra festival when their mini truck dashed against a tree at around 9.30 PM last night.

Among the 30 injured, eight of them are in serious condition, the officer said.

New laboratory at MIT to analyse Twitter messages

Twitter will provide the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with $10 million over the next five years to analyse every tweet that has gone out since the network was launched in 2006. The MIT Media Lab will use the money to establish and operate a Laboratory for Social Machines.

“As part of the new programme, Twitter will also provide full access to its real-time, public stream of tweets, as well as the archive of every tweet dating back to the first, the MIT Media Lab said in a statement announcing the initiative.

During interrogation, the modus operandi of the syndicate emerged and it was learnt that they had leaked the question papers of several recruitment examinations which included the Constable recruitment paper.

“It was discovered that the ‘Procurers’ of the question papers have their sources in the printing presses. After the question papers are procured from the printing press, it is analyzed by the ‘Analyzers’ as to which exam the question paper is being printed for,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand.

Sweet Sour Potato Roll

Ingredients

1. 2 multigrain atta rotis
2. 1 cup diced potatoes, boiled and sauteed lightly
3. 1tbsp tamarind pulp
4. 1tsp garlic paste
5. 1tbsp tomato ketchup
6. 1 green chilli, chopped
7. 1/2tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
8. Salt to taste
9. 2tsp honey mixed with vinegar
10.1tsp oregano or herb of your choice
11.1tbsp refined oil

Method:

1. In a pan, heat oil till it gives off smoke.
2. Add the jeera and as they splutter, toss in the potatoes. Saute for about a minute.
3. Then add the rest of the ingredients, except oregano, and toss till they are well combined.

1. 2 multigrain atta rotis
2. 1/2 cucumber, chopped
3. 1 tomato, diced
4. 1/2 carrot, parboiled & chopped
5. 1/2 beetroot, parboiled & chopped
6. 1/2 cabbage, julienned
7. 1 cup kabuli chana
8. 7tsp lemon juice
9. 7 cloves garlic
10.4tsp til (sesame seeds), roasted
11.6tsp olive oil
12.Salt to taste
13.Pinch of kali mirch (pepper)

Method:

1. Prepare the hummus in advance . soak kabuli chana overnight. In the morning, boil the chana with salt. Then drain . remember to keep some water for blending the mix later.

Forex reserves fall $1.4 bn to $314 bn

Falling for the fourth week in a row, India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $1.415 billion to $314.181 billion in the week to September 26 on account of a hefty drop in non-US currency assets.

In the previous week, the reserves had fallen by $101.3 million to $315.596 billion. During the week to July 25, the reserves had touched $320.56 billion, a shade away from the life-time high of $320.79 billion recorded on September 2, 2011.

City of palaces Mysore is celebrating its famous 10-day Dasara festival in the absence of scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who passed away last December in Bangalore.

For the first time in many years, the royal family was forced to place the royal sword on the golden throne on which the scion used to sit and conduct the festival rituals in the Amba Vilas Palace durbar since he succeeded his father and last Mysore Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in 1974.
