Actress Payal Rohatgi reminisced her modelling days while walking the ramp for her “Humsafars” debut TV show.

Payal plays the role of Anam, who is a part of her brother-in-law’s fashion house.

The actress, who tried her luck in Bollywood with a string of movies like “Tauba Tauba” and “Dhol”, had to walk on the ramp as a showstopper for the upcoming track of the show.

Ensure cleanliness at police stations: Rajnath

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Saturday instructed Delhi Police commissioner B.S. Bassi to ensure that all police stations and other complexes are cleaned within a week, saying that he may undertake surprise visits.

“Home minister today (Saturday) instructed the Delhi CP (B.S.) Bassi to ensure that all police stations and other complexes are cleaned within a week,” a tweet from the home ministry said.

Rajnath Singh also asked Bassi to monitor the cleanliness drive in police buildings.

Six killed, 12 injured in Pakistan van blast

At least six people were killed and 12 injured Saturday when a blast occurred in a passenger van in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkwa province, Geo News reported.

The incident occurred in Kohat city’s Peshawar Chowk in the morning.

Miscreants had planted a bomb near the bus stand, police said, adding the bodies and injured were rushed to hospital. The van was destroyed for which five kilogramme explosives were used.

It was the second attack on a passenger bus in the province. Earlier, seven people were killed in the previous blast that took place in Peshawar, according to Dawn online.

China test fires 10,000-km range nuclear missile

China has flight tested an upgraded version of its 10,000-km range Dongfeng missile which can reach most of the US and European cities, demonstrating its nuclear capability, media reports said.

the Wuzhai Missile and Space Test Centre, also called Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province, Hong Kong-based

6-year-old girl brutally stabbed to death

A six-year-old girl was found murdered with multiple stab wounds in Chaksu town of the district today.

Shijen went missing from her house yesterday afternoon, police said, adding that her body was found today near a pond, about one km away from the house.

“She was stabbed to death as the body has injury marks in head and other parts.

“Reason of the murder is not known,” Station House Officer (SHO) Chaksu Hemraj said, adding that the possibility of rape has been ruled out.

No arrest was made so far and the matter is under investigation, Chaksu Hemraj said.

No Eid celebrations for Najma Heptulla

Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla Saturday said she will not celebrate Eid-ul-Azha this year, in view of the recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir and the stampede in Patna.

In a statement, Heptulla also said that she will donate the money meant to be spent on Eid to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

Ladies, try not to stress too much. New research says anxious, easily-stressed women are more prone to developing Alzheimer’s later in life.

After following 800 women for nearly four decades, researchers say certain personality dispositions can put you at risk for the memory-robbing disease, reports huffingtonpost.com.

Middle-aged women with an average age of 46 were given a battery of personality tests and asked to make note of any periods of prolonged stress longer than one month to determine certain traits and tendencies.

The dawn-to-dusk bandh called by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in protest against the conviction of J Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case disrupted normal life in Puducherry on Saturday.

The bandh commenced from 6 am today in protest against the ‘false case’ imposed on former Tamil Nadu chief minister and her ‘wrongful imprisonment’.

Buses went off the roads while shops, business establishments, petrol pumps and cinema houses remained closed in the union territory as part of the bandh, police said.

Rape accused dies in hospital following suicide attempt

An undertrial rape accused, who was admitted to hospital after alleged suicide attempt, has died here in southeastern Jhalawar district, police said today. 25-year-old Mukesh Tanwar was admitted to the hospital in a “critical condition” on Tuesday afternoon after he attempted suicide with a long piece of cloth in the barrack’s toilet for prisoners in the district session court, where he was brought for an appearance, police said.

Tanwar died in the district hospital last night during treatment, Station House Officer (SHO), Kotwali police station Sunil Kumar said.

Boy killed in stampede in AP

A 12-year-old boy was killed in a stampede at a religious festival organised near a temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, police said today.

Also, 37 devotees were injured during a mock fight organised as part of “Banni” festival at Devaragattu temple late last night, Shiv Ram Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Adoni Sub-Division, said.

The deceased was identified as one Mahesh, a resident of Neraniki village.

BSF tells Pak rangers not to fire along International Border

Amid frequent violations of ceasefire by Pakistan, BSF today told Pakistani rangers not to fire along the International Border (IB) as “it is not good for general public of both the sides”.

“We have told them (Pak Rangers) in the morning (during patrolling) don’t fire it is not good for general public of both the sides,” Inspector General (IG) BSF, Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma told PTI here.

“Why are you (Pak Rangers) firing. If you fire, we will also fire,” is what has been conveyed to Pak rangers during patrolling of IB by BSF troops this morning, he said.

As noted lyricist, poet, screenwriter Javed Akhtar clocked 50 years in the film industry today, his wife veteran actress Shabana Azmi says she looks at his incredible journey with respect.

Akhtar, 69, arrived in Mumbai in 1964. He struggled to get work in the film industry and finally got his break with 1969 film Dharmendra-starrer ‘Yakeen’ in which he contributed with the dialogues.

“50 years ago Javed Akhtar came to Bombay to pursue career in films- slept on the streets no food for days only talent and determination. Respect,” Shabana, 64, posted on twitter.

Husband who was burnt in a bid to save his wife succumbed to burn injuries. The incident occurred under Jawahar Nagar police station limits where 38-year-old Hari died while his wife is under going treatment in a severely burnt condition.

According to details vexed with her husband Padma poured kerosene over her body, her husband also allegedly poured kerosene over his body to scare his wife however Padma set herself ablaze her husband tried to save her but both got severely burned.
