Hrithik Roshan has asked Salman Khan to draw a painting with a message as part of the ‘Bang Bang’ dare to promote his upcoming action thriller.

Hrithik, 40, will be seen in an action hero avatar in the Siddharth Anand-directed film, which also stars Katrina Kaif and will hit theatres on October 2.

“Here it is. To the one who is more about other people than himself, Paint! And give world a message! Any. Salman Khan qubool (accept)?,” Hrithik posted on Twitter.

New approach in getting rid of TB discovered

Scientists have come up with new strategies in order to beat tuberculosis.

Over the past few years, a class of compounds called ADEPs had emerged as a promising new weapon in the fight against drug-resistant bacteria. The compounds work by attaching themselves to a cellular enzyme called ClpP, which bacterial cells use to rid themselves of harmful proteins. With an ADEP attached, ClpP can’t function properly, and the bacterial cell dies.

Diesel rate likely to be cut by Re 1/litre, petrol by Rs 1.75

Diesel price is likely to be cut by about Re 1 per litre, the first reduction in rates in over five years, while petrol price may be slashed by Rs 1.75.

State-owned oil firms are likely to announce reduction in rates, made possible because of softening in international oil rates, this evening, government and industry sources said.

Under-recovery or the difference between retail price and its imported cost was wiped out and there was an over-recovery of 35 paise a litre from September 16. This over-recovery is now about Re 1 a litre.

Indian boxing contingent files protest against Sarita’s loss

An outraged Indian boxing contingent today lodged a protest and demanded a review of L Sarita Devi’s semifinal bout in the Asian Games after the veteran was adjudged to have lost despite a dominating performance against home favourite Jina Park.

The Indian boxing contingent lodged a protest after paying a USD 500 fee, which would not be refunded if the review upholds the original decision.

A new research has revealed that drinking caffeinated beverages is better driver fatigue-fighting measure than listening to music.

The simulated driving study that measured driver fatigue levels against the use of caffeine, music, or no stimulant, showed that drivers who used either caffeine or music as a stimulant felt significantly less tired than those who did not.

However, those who drank a caffeinated beverage to stay awake performed their driving tasks much better than those who listened to music or those in the control group.

Man who sneaked into White House reportedly made it to ‘East room’

A man who was detained for sneaking into the White House earlier this month reportedly managed to go farther into the presidential residence than previously believed.

According to the BBC, Omar Gonazalez, 42, made it to the East Room in the highly guarded home on 19 September, unidentified officials told multiple news outlets.

The East Room is used for many functions, out of which, some are hosted by the President himself.

Gonzalez of Copperas Cove, Texas, was carrying a three and a half inch Spyderco VG-10 black serrated folding knife in his front pants pocket when he was arrested.

Rupee Down 9 Paise against Dollar in Early Trade

The rupee weakened by nine paise to trade at a fresh seven-month low of 61.62 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today following increased demand for the US currency from importers ahead of RBI’s policy review.

A lower opening at the domestic equity market and the dollar’s rise against other major currencies overseas also put pressure on the rupee, dealers said.

World’s Fourth Largest Sea Dried Up Completely: NASA

Aral Sea – the giant lake between Kazakhstan in the north and Uzbekistan in the south – has dried up completely, says NASA.

In the early 1900s, the Aral Sea was the fourth largest lake in the world.

Today, the vast lake – formed 5.5 million years ago in Central Asia – in the middle of the Kyzylkum desert has shrunk to a level where water is no more visible to the eyes, revealed a series of images from Nasa’s Terra satellite.

A massive water diversion project begun by the Soviet Union in the 1960s caused it to shrink dramatically.
