Keeping in view the fourth death anniversary of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to be celebrated by YSRCP on Tuesday, the ruling party preferred to defer the announcement, it is being said. The Chief Minister, who is unlikely to adopt the recommendations of the Sivaramakrishnan Committee on the new capital, was planning otherwise. Naidu is most likely to reveal his mind in the Assembly on September 4, being considered an auspicious date.

Class IV student raped by her 14-yr-old classmate

An eight-year-old girl, studying in class IV, was allegedly raped by her 14-year-old classmate in Masuri town here, police said today.

The girl, who was staying with her paternal aunt after her mother passed away, was lured by her classmate on August 29 to a nearby field where he raped her, they said.

After returning home, she complained of stomach-ache to her aunt who took her to a nearby clinic where the whole matter came to light.

A police complaint was registered only after villagers staged a protest outside the Masuri police station.

Nawaz Sharif cancels UK trip in the face of anti-government protests

Pakistan Prime Minister cancelled his second foreign trip in a row as he decided to not attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, to be held in Cardiff, United Kingdom on September 4 and 5. Earlier, he had cancelled his trip to Turkey.

Nawaz is adamant he will not resign from his post despite growing pressure from his opponents, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), who continue to hold protests in Islamabad’s ‘red zone’, despite the police resorting to tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators.

Warrant issued against Union Minister Kalraj Mishra, for 2009 demonstration

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here on Tuesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra. The court issued the warrant due to Mishra’s non-appearance in the court despite repeated summons.

The FIR in this matter was lodged on March 28, 2009 when Mishra, along with his supporters, stormed the court and damaged government property in spite of Section 144 (Unlawful Assembly) being in force.

The court has fixed the next date of hearing as October 8. (ANI)

UN chief welcomes lifting of Iraqi town siege

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday welcomed the end of militant siege on the northern Iraqi town of Amerli, saying it averted “a major humanitarian disaster”.

Ban welcomed the lifting of the siege on Amerli through the action of the Iraqi security forces, the Kurdish Peshmerga and others with air support from the United States, Xinhua quoted a statement issued by his spokesperson as saying Tuesday.

“This has averted a major humanitarian as well as human rights disaster,” the statement said.

US doctor tests positive for Ebola in Liberia

An American missionary doctor working in Liberia has tested positive for the Ebola virus, his organisation SIM USA announced Tuesday.

The doctor was treating obstetrics patients at ELWA hospital in Liberia’s capital Monrovia and was not treating Ebola patients in the hospital’s Ebola isolation unit, a facility separate from the main hospital, Xinhua quoted the missionary organisation’s statement as saying.

It is not yet known how the doctor contracted the virus specifically.

Over 7,200 killed in Syria in August

As many as 7,219 people have been killed in Syria in August as fierce fighting continued due to the three-year-old civil war in the country, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Tuesday.

At least 2,015 civilians, including 281 children and 138 women, were killed last month, while Free Syrian Army (FSA), rebels and other allied anti-government groups, lost 1,448 fighters, the London-based group, which has a large network of activists on the ground across Syria, said.

Israel’s former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert appeared before a Jerusalem court Tuesday after the state prosecution reopened a corruption case against him.

Olmert was acquitted in what came to be known as the “Talansky Affair” in July 2012, after being charged with fraud and tax evasion for illegally receiving large sums of money in envelopes during fund-raisers from US businessman Moris Talansky, Xinhua reported.

Mali mine blast kills four UN peacekeepers

Four United Nations peacekeepers were killed and 15 others injured after their vehicle hit a landmine in Mali Tuesday, security sources said.

The UN vehicle was hit by a landmine when the peacekeepers were leaving the country’s northern city of Aguelhok, where they had accomplished peacekeeping missions, Xinhua quoted Malian army spokesperson Olivier Salgado as saying.

The spokesperson said all the dead and injured were from Chad, adding that six of the injured were in critical condition.

Top militant commander among three killed in Kashmir gunfight

Three separatist guerrillas of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit were Tuesday killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, even as the Indian Army unearthed a tunnel across the LoC that was meant to push terrorists into India, officials said.

Police said the three militants killed in Hanjanbala (Rajpora) village in Pulwama district were locals and included a district commander and a teenager who had recently joined the outfit.

Amid questions raised over a reported tie-up between the IRCTC – a public sector enterprise under the railway ministry – and the Saradha Group in 2010, the Trinamool Congress Tuesday lashed out at the CBI, which is probing the chit fund muddle, and alleged that the probe agency functioned as a “political organisation”.

“The Central Bureau of Investigation runs at somebody’s directive. It works like a political organisation,” said former railways minister and Trinamool general secretary Mukul Roy, in an obvious reference to the central government.

Just two weeks after beheading American photojournalist James Foley, the Islamic State (IS) Sunni extremist organisation sent what it called “A second message to America”, with a video showing the beheading of another kidnapped American journalist.

In the video released Tuesday Steven Sotloff, 31, a freelance journalist who was captured in northern Syria a year ago, speaks to the camera before he is killed.

Sotloff says is “paying the price” for US decision to strike IS targets in Iraq, CNN reported.

Policemen chasing suspicious person meets with an accident

Constable was seriously injured while chasing a suspicious person under the Meerpet Police Station limits.

According to Meerpet police, the two constables Narender and Srikanth were on patrolling duty. In the wee hours of Tuesday, when they suddenly caught sight of a notorious criminal involved in several burglary cases, they tried to catch him. Immediately after noticing the policemen, the suspect increased the pace of his bike. 11 killed in Pakistan building collapse

At least 11 people, including women and children, were killed
Tuesday when a roof of an old building collapsed in Pakistan, a media report said.

As many as 18 people were wounded when a two-storey building collapsed in south Pakistan’s Hyderabad city, Dawn online reported.

Most of the deceased belonged to one family.

Several victims have been trapped under the debris which rescue workers continue to remove.

Rescue workers that include, Rangers, Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Sindh Building Control Authority, fears that there may be more dead.
