Indore: 24-Year-Old Techie Commits Suicide

A 24-year-old woman software engineer, who was apparently suffering from depression, allegedly committed suicide at her house in Indore, police said today.

Deepa Radariya, originally from Mumbai and working at a software firm here for the last six months, yesterday hanged herself at her apartment in Ahinsa tower on MG Road, Tukoganj police station in-charge Dilip Singh Choudhary said.

The woman used to live in the apartment along with her colleague Sneha, he said.

Deepa used to get depressed even over small issues, the police officer said quoting her friend.

A new research has revealed that household air pollution, sourced by the use of plant-based or coal fuel for cooking, heating, and lightingaround, could cause 3 million people to suffer from health risks and early death worldwide.

A third of the world’s population use plant-based solid fuels such as wood or charcoal, or coal, to cook, heat, and light their homes, primarily in Asia and Africa. These smoky, dirty fuels are often used in an open fire or simple stove, resulting in high levels of household air pollution in poorly ventilated homes.

Popeye’s spinach can also stem your hunger pangs

A new study has revealed that Popeye’s energy source, spinach, increases weight loss with 43 percent as it decreases hedonic hunger with up to 95 percent.

The study from Lund University in Sweden showed that taking thylakoids, the green leaf membranes in spinach extract, reinforces the body’s production of satiety hormones and suppresses hedonic hunger, which leads to better appetite control, healthier eating habits and increased weight loss.

Men with handsome faces have lower sperm quality

A new study has revealed that men with a handsome face have a lower quality of semen.

According to the study, increased levels of testosterone have been demonstrated to impair sperm production and the finding may indicate a trade-off between investments in secondary sexual signaling (i.e. facial masculinity) and fertility.

The study also revealed that males estimated facial images generally more attractive than females did, suggesting that males may generally overestimate the attractiveness of other men to females.

16-year-old girl abducted, gang-raped in Meerut

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by three youths in Falawada area here.

The incident took place on Friday when the girl was at her home, following which the three youths forced her to inhale sedatives and took her to their house. Thereafter, the accused took turns to rape her, Azad Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Falawada police station said today.

When the girl’s condition deteriorated, they deserted her near her house yesterday. The youths also threatened to defame the girl if she lodged a complaint with the police, he said.

FBI, Apple investigate Jennifer Lawrence’s nude photo hack

The FBI and Apple are investigating the hacking into the phones of Jennifer Lawrence and several other celebrities after nude photographs of the Oscar-winner were posted online.

Images of the 24-year-old actress began appearing on some websites on Sunday after her iPhone was apparently hacked, said the Hollywood Reporter.

“The FBI is aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter,” a statement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

SC asks Nithyananda to undergo potency test

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by self-styled godman Nithyananda against conducting potency test on him in a 2010 rape case.

Nithyananda had approached the apex court against a Karnataka High Court`s order directing him to undergo potency test.

During the trial, the apex court had questioned controversial godman for his reluctance to undergo the test saying such examinations were necessary in view of growing number of rape cases.

3-day vaccination camp at Hajj House

State Hajj Committee is organising 3-day vaccination camp for the selected Hajj aspirants of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh which began on Tuesday at Hajj House. On the first day of the camp 910 Hajj aspirants were administered vaccination while 1100 Hajj aspirants belonging to Hyderabad had to avail the camp services. However those who have not availed the services can get vaccinated on remaining two days of the camp.

‘Plucky geckos’ in space sex orbit found dead upon return to Earth

Plucky geckos, which were sent into space to reveal the effects of microgravity on sex, were found dead after returning to Earth in capsule.

The lizards, which were originally sent into the cosmos on the Russian Foton-M4 capsule, turned up alive after space agency officials had lost contact with them for a time, Metro.co.uk reported.

Bank lending norms should be tightened, FinMin to RBI

Against the backdrop of Kingfisher case, the Finance Ministry has asked the Reserve Bank to tighten lending norms to prevent borrowers from opening multiple current account outside their consortium banks.

There are a few instances where defaulting borrowers indulged in diversion of funds have taken place by opening of multiple current account outside the members of the consortium, sources said. Therefore, sources said, the Finance Ministry has urged RBI to tighten the norms and monitoring system so that such activities could be prevented.

A Muslim scrap dealer was arrested by the Koramangala police on theft charges, died under mysterious circumstances at the Victoria Hospital here on August 31.

Mubarak Pasha (37) a resident of Lakshman Rao (LR) Nagar was taken into custody from his residence by the Koramangala police on August 19. Though his family managed to get his bail on August 30, he was not released because KR market police was also looking for him in another case.

BJP MLA attacked in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Jitender Singh Shunty was shot at by an unknown assailant early this morning at his Vivek Vihar residence in New Delhi. The attacker fired three-four times at Shunty but the MLA managed to escape unhurt.

Shunty told reporters that a proper recce must have been done before he was fired at because the attacker knew that Shunty would be alone early in the morning and that would be the best time to attack him.

2,20,000 Indians granted Saudi visa in one month

Over 2,20,000 Indians, mostly domestic helpers and labourers, have been granted visas by Saudi Arabia in one month, officials said.

“Since we resumed bringing in Indian workers at the end of Ramadan, the number of visas has reached 2,20,000,” Ahmad Al Fuhaid, the labour ministry undersecretary for international affairs, was quoted as saying by the Gulf News.

“Around 44,000 visas were for domestic helpers while the others were for workers in the public and private sectors,” he said.

Sensex hits new record-high of 27,148.90; Nifty at 8,119.80

Continuing its rising streak for the ninth straight session, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose over 129 points to hit a new high of 27,148.90 in opening trade on Wednesday on sustained foreign capital inflows coupled with a firming trend on other Asian bourses.

The 30-share index, which had gained over 705 points in the previous eight sessions, gathered another 129.51 points, or 0.47 percent, to trade at a new peak of 27,148.90, surpassing its earlier record of 27,082.85 touched on Tuesday (intra-day).

Kirsten Dunst lashes out at Apple for leaked nude photos

Actress Kirsten Dunst has hit out at Apple after nude images of her were allegedly leaked online.

The 32-year-old took to Twitter to criticise the American multinational corporation after it emerged that a flaw in its iCloud service may have allowed an unidentified hacker to steal explicit images of her and “100 other celebrities” and publish them on the image-sharing forum 4chan, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
