Soon after the three-week long fiery high-voltage campaign concluded on Monday evening the post-poll match fixing between the TRS and the Congress came into the open as was amply evident from the subtle feelers and comments of both the parties.
Though both the parties campaigned vigorously to establish their political supremacy in the new Telangana Sate, which would come into being officially as the 29th state of the country on June 2, their confidence seemed to have been replaced by apprehensions about forming the government on their own individual strength.

24 Year old Businessman killed in train accident

A 24-year-old man died of injuries after he was hit by a train while he was trying to cross the track.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon hours near Nature Cure Railway Station while deceased trying to cross the track suddenly one speeding MMTS train hit due to which he received multiple injuries, Immediately rushed to OGH for treatment where undergoing treatment he was died on night hours. The deceased was later identified as B Santosh Yadav (24) a Milk Businessman S/o B Srinivas R/o Ameerpet of Hyderabad.

Trinamool leaders challenge Modi to prove allegation or apologise

Throwing a challenge to BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, two senior leaders of West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress Tuesday said they would put in their papers if he could prove his allegation that a painting by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was sold for Rs.1.80 crore.

While Trinamool national spokesperson Derek O’Brien said he would quit his Rajya Sabha seat, Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said he would step down as minister.

Tapes of Modi’s speech in Bengal sent to EC

A report and tapes of the speech delivered by BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in West Bengal where he raised questions about Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s painting being sold at an exorbitant price have been forwarded to the Election Commission in Delhi, an official said Tuesday.

The Election Commission had taken suo motu cognisance of Modi’s speech at an election rally in Sreerampore of Hooghly district Sunday and sought a detailed report from the district administration Monday.

Infant baby boy body found at Bandlaguda

The L B Nagar police found the dead body of an infant baby Boy in cloth at open land of Bandlaguda Tuesday morning hours.

According to L B Nagar police, 2 to 4 days old infant baby boy is suspected to have been dumped in open place of Damodar Reddy Agriculturist Land at Bandlaguda on Tuesday morning hours. Locality people informed to police, immediately police rushed to spot and registered a case under section 318 IPC.

Over 2.81 crore voters will decide fate of 1669 candidates in Telangana

The stage is set for the first phase of polling in 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly segments in Telangana on Wednesday.

As many as 2,81,74,055 voters including 137,81,276 women will decide the fate of 656 candidates for 17 Lok Sabha constituencies and 1669 candidates for the 119 Assembly segments. The Amberpet Assembly segment has the maximum of 32 candidates followed by Secunderabad (31) and Khairtabad (30). Likewise, Boath (ST) and Andole (SC) have least number of five candidates each.

Mamata’s close relatives bought Rs.20 crore property: CPI-M leader

Senior CPI-M leader Gautam Deb Tuesday claimed that close relatives of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have purchased property worth around Rs.20 crore in recent years and asked about the source of the funds.

The Trinamool Congress hit back regretting the way the former minister has dragged the family of a political personality on the issue and accused Deb of having close links with Saradha scam mastermind Sudipta Sen.

Addressing a media meet, Deb launched a no-holds-barred attack on Banerjee, calling her a “pathological liar” who had “problems in her DNA”.

AP bifurcation details to be made available online

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday informed that the government was planning to upload the details related to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh on its website from May 8.

Speaking to media persons here, Jairam Ramesh said that the complete details of reports submitted by 21 committees would be accessible to the general public from May 8, a day after the conclusion of second phase of polling in the State. He also said that the progress in the bifurcation process would be reviewed on May 9.

Wardhannapet Congress Candidate attempts suicide

Upset over the media reports that he was losing the elections, Congress candidate from Wardhannapet Assembly segment Kondeti Sridhar on Tuesday reportedly attempted suicide by consuming poison.

According to reports, Sridhar consumed some unknown poison at a mango orchard in Pedda Pendial village of Warangal district. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Hanamkonda. He is stated to be out of danger and his sugar and blood levels were normal.

Only Congress can provide stable government: Shabbir Ali

Mercury soars to 44 degrees in Odisha’s coal belt

Odisha Tuesday continued to reel under a severe heat wave condition, with the mercury soaring to 44 degrees Celsius in the state’s coal belt, an official said.

The coal town of Talcher in Angul district, about 170 km from Bhubaneswar, recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, the state’s highest so far this season.

Talcher is known for its coal reserves and has a number of coal mines. People stayed indoors, shops were closed and roads wore a deserted look in the town and its nearby areas.

Telangana and Seemandhra are not in Pakistan: Javedkar

BJP national leader Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday accused TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao of issuing provocative statements.

Speaking to media persons here, Javedkar said that KCR was trying to exploit the regional feelings by making objectionable statements against Seemandhra people. He alleged that KCR had described Seemandhra people as “Rakshasulu”. He strongly condemned KCR’s alleged warning that Seemandhra people would be chased away from Telangana. He said KCR should realise that Telangana and Seemandhra are part of India and they are not in Pakistan.

Uttarakhand flood victims still crying for help: Modi

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Tuesday said the effects of last year’s floods in Uttarakhand could still be felt there and both the central and state government have failed to rehabilitate and compensate people.

“The victims of the flood are still crying… you have your government in Delhi as well as in Uttarakhand, but still you can’t help the affected people,” Modi said addressing a 3D rally.

“You can do anything to win elections but you don’t have time to address the people’s concern,” he said.

Special drive to improve Delhi street food vendors’ hygiene

The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) Tuesday launched a drive to upgrade the hygiene level of street food vendors in the national capital.

The drive that started in the Sarojini Nagar market in south Delhi will focus on providing training to the street food vendors in safe handling of the street food.

Around 120 such vendors have applied for registration under the Food Safety Act 2011 and will be trained by NASVI in safe handling of food.

Woman killed in Gurgaon expressway accident

A 22-year-old woman civil service aspirant, Tuesday died in a road accident here on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway while her two friends were injured, police said.

Aakanksha, from Hari Nagar area of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was living in Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar and was preparing for the civil services.

Their car was hit by a speeding truck near IFFCO chowk around 5 a.m., police said.

Her friends Ankush and Sahil were injured and admitted to a private hospital here.

The woman’s body was handed over to her relatives after a post-mortem examination.

Delhi minor raped by shopkeeper

A seven-year-old girl was raped by a shopkeeper near her home in the capital, police said Tuesday. The accused was arrested after locals caught him and beat him up.

The girl was playing outside her home in Harsh Vihar area of east Delhi, when shopkeeper Rajesh lured her to a secluded place and raped her.

When the girl started screaming, he gave her some money and told her not to speak about the incident. But the girl revealed her ordeal to her mother when she returned home.

Her mother told her neighbours before informing the police and they caught Rajesh and thrashed him.

Bombay High Court dismisses Jundal’s plea for physical court appearance

The Bombay High Court Tuesday dismissed a plea by terror acused Sayyed Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, to quash a Maharashtra government order banning his court appearances on security grounds, his lawyer said.

Jundal had filed a plea in July 2013 challenging the government resolution (GR), contending that he had a right under the Constitution to appear before courts to defend himself in various cases filed against him, said his lawyer Ejaz Naqvi.

Policemen let jailed Bihar leader use phone, suspended

The Election Commission Tuesday ordered the suspension of half a dozen policemen for allowing a jailed former legislator to use a mobile phone in a court premises in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.

Munna Shukla was brought to the court for a hearing in connection with a murder case, said additional chief electoral officer R. Lakshmanan told media persons.

He said Shukla was shifted from Muzaffarpur jail to Bhagalpur jail following an order of the poll panel after a complaint said he was found using a mobile phone in the court premises.
