Malin Akerman is reportedly dating ‘Something Borrowed’ actor Colin Egglesfield after splitting from her hubby Roberto Zincone after six years of marriage.

The ‘Trophy Wife’ actress was spotted with Egglesfield enjoying a low-key dinner in Beverly Hills earlier in April.

A source told Us Magazine that the new couple is taking it slow.

Another insider said that Akerman, who broke up with Zincone in November 2013 and has now filed for a divorce, thinks Egglesfield’s almost too hot for her. (ANI)

Sugary drinks contributing to obesity epidemic, especially among kids

A new study has found that sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) are contributing in the obesity epidemic, particularly among American children.

The Obesity Society’s rep Diana Thomas, Professor at Montclair State University and Director of the Center for Quantitative Obesity Research, said that following a thorough review and analysis of the existing research, TOS concludes that, by adding more non-nutritious calories to the American diet, SSBs have contributed to the US obesity epidemic.

Briton jailed in Pakistan for ‘posing as Muslim’ reveals ordeal

A British man jailed for ‘posing as a Muslim’ in Pakistan, has spoken about his ordeal for the first time since returning to the UK.

Masud Ahmad was arrested in Pakistan in November under blasphemy laws, but fled while on bail.

The 73-year-old is part of the minority Ahmadiyya sect, who are considered heretics in Pakistan.

One of the restrictions on their religious freedom is that they cannot publicly recite the Koran.

According to the BBC, late last year, a young man posing as a patient visited Ahmad at his homeopathy clinic in Lahore.

Afghan presidential election heading for Abdullah-Ghani run-off

The Afghan presidential election will go to a second round run-off, after no candidate reached the 50 percent needed for an outright win, preliminary results show.

The second run-off will be between former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah and ex-World Bank economist Ashraf Ghani.

According to the BBC, Abdullah won most votes with 44.9 percent and Ghani came second with 31.5 percent.

They are now expected to face a run-off vote on 28 May.

Final official results are due to be announced on 14 May after a period for adjudication of complaints, the report added. (ANI)

A new study has found that seeing ultrasound images of their babies for the very first time is a “powerful and magical moment” for expectant fathers as it helps them bond with their child.

Tova Walsh, a researcher at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, said that fathers’ feelings about ultrasound images have rarely been studied, and prior studies have looked at fathers in Europe or Australia.

A letter penned by Esther Hart on Titanic, which is believed to be last one written just hours before the ship hit an iceberg, has fetched 119,000 pounds at an auction.

Hart, who was travelling with her husband and daughter, had mentioned in the letter that she was very sick the day before the tragedy and she that she will write as soon as they get there, the Guardian reported.

India successfully test fires exo-atmospheric missile interceptor

India Sunday successfully test-fired an exo-atmospheric missile interceptor for the first time at a defence base in Odisha as part of its efforts to create a shield against incoming enemy missiles, a senior defence official said.

The indigenous Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missile was fired from Wheeler Island off the coast near Dhamra port in Bhadrak district, about 170 km from here.

Alibaba is reportedly planning to give away more shares in its IPO, which is likely to be the largest initial public offering ever.

According to Mashable while no final deal has been made, new shares could push the amount of the offering beyond the Agricultural Bank of China’s record $22.1 billion in Shanghai and Hong Kong in 2010.

It remains unclear as to when Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma plans to sell stock in the IPO.

New diabetes, obesity drug: Indian-American’s promising research

Two researchers at Indiana University, including an Indian-American, are leading the way towards developing a new potential non-insulin drug for diabetes and obesity, which needs to be taken only once a week.

Dr. Arnab De, who has a PhD from Columbia University, and Prof. Richard DiMarchi of Indiana University have worked on developing a pro-drug or an inactive substance that is converted to a drug within the body, to stabilise a sugar reducing peptide hormone called GLP1.
