Accusing BJP-Congress collusion for his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said he did not “flee” from his responsibilities and it required a “lot of guts” to give up the post.

Kejriwal, who is contesting against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, during a meeting with his volunteers said his party’s decision to contest against “sahenshas” of BJP and Congress was to finish off these political outfits.

According to the opinion poll conducted by a news channel, the ruling JD(U) in Bihar could secure hardly between two and five seats while Congress-RJD-NCP alliance would get seven to 13 seats in elections.

Nearly 20 percent Latin American teens not in school

About 20 percent of Latin Americans between the ages of 12 and 18 do not attend school, a report released here Monday by the UN Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean and the regional office of Unicef has revealed.

“Practically all 11-year-old children are in school in the countries of Latin America, but for 17-year-olds half have already left the system and only one in three completes high school without falling behind,” the document said.

Britain announces new financial aid for Syrian recovery

Britain Monday announced a 3-million-pound (about $5 million) boost for the Syria recovery, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said Monday.

According to the FCO, the aid is focusing on improving local communities’ access to healthcare, water, energy and food.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a statement that by making the contribution, Britain will be helping the Syrians with local governance and the delivery of basic services in order to meet needs on the ground

Tuesday’s search for missing Malaysian plane resumes: JACC

A total of 10 planes and nine ships will assist in Tuesday’s search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the Joint Agency Coordination Center (JACC) announced.

The JACC was established Monday and is being led by retired Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston in Perth to effectively coordinate Australian government’s search and recovery operation, Xinhua reported.

It will also provide timely information to families of passengers and crew on board the missing aircraft and inform the public about the latest available information.

New Zealand hits lowest crime rate in 29 years

Despite witnessing a bit rise in some districts of the country, the crime rate dropped to its lowest level in 29 years in New Zealand last year, latest official statistics have revealed.

There were 15,602 fewer crimes recorded in 2013 than in the previous year, a 4.1 percent drop, TVnz quoted new statistics New Zealand figures as showing. And as the population has increased by 0.9 percent in that time, the drop per capita was 5 percent

Britain calls for global action against climate change

British Foreign Secretary William Hague Monday called for “global cooperation” to tackle the climate change, urging governments around the world to take actions.

“Unless there is unprecedented global cooperation to bring down emissions, no country would be left unaffected. Governments everywhere have to act,” Xinhua quoted Hague as saying following the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published its second report “Climate Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” Monday.

Man commits suicide, blows himself up with mining explosive

A 35-year-man allegedly committed suicide by blowing himself up with mining explosive in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan on Monday.

Bhoparam, driver working at a mine, had been in depression for some time, they said. He tied the explosive around his upper body and connected it with a live wire which triggered the blast, police said.

He was the father of three children and was alone in the house in the Kelwara police station area when he committed suicide, police said.

If all goes well, “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” could be turn into a movie trilogy.

According to The New York Times, the book, published in 2001 and billed as one of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbooks, will be adapted by Warner Bros into “three megamovies”.

In an interview with the publication, Warner Bros’ CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed that the stories, which are not prequels or sequels, would be set in New York about 70 years before Harry Potter, reports digitialspy.co.uk.

UP Govt. announces Rs 5 lakh compensation each to Muzaffarnagar rape victims

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each to seven women, who were raped during Muzaffarnagar riots.

The state government has decided to give Rs five lakh each, to seven rape victims in Muzaffarnagar district, official sources said. The government has also decided to consider 19 missing persons as dead and give relief to their family members.

The state government also sanctioned Rs 10 lakh as compensation to family members of Junior Engineer Satyanarain Verma, who was killed in the state capital.

Putin orders partial withdrawal from border with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a “partial withdrawal” of troops from the border with Ukraine, BBC quoted the German government as saying.

Putin informed Chancellor Angela Merkel of the move in a telephone conversation, her office said.

However, thousands of Russian troops are still said to be deployed along the border.

Earlier, Ukraine condemned a visit to Crimea by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and a delegation of government ministers.

It has increased 10% business compared to last year. He told that India is the largest emerging market. He informed that British Airways has recently enhanced its flight to 48 per week. No Moon seen yesterday

Central Moon Sighting Committee meeting was held yesterday at Husaini building under the Chairmanship of Maulana Qubool Basha Quadri. The Committee declared that Moon was not sighted. There was no news of sighting the Moon from Gulbarga, Patna, Lucknow, Delhi and other places. Therefore, it was decided to announce that Tuesday, 1st April will be 30th Jamadiul Aaakhir.

Shia Ulema also confirmed that they have not received any news of sighting the Moon.
