Ingredients

¼ cucumber, halved and sliced
¼ iceberg lettuce, shredded
2 spring onions, sliced
handful mint leaves, torn
4 plain small naan bread
140g pack cooked chicken tikka pieces
natural yogurt to serve

Method

Toss all the salad vegetables together. Heat the naan breads in the microwave on Medium for 1 min until puffed up.

Remove the breads. Tip the tikka pieces into a bowl and give them a quick blast in the microwave to heat through.

Split the breads in half and stuff with the salad, chicken and a spoonful of yogurt.

Researchers suggest that methane-producing microbes may have been responsible for the largest mass extinction in Earth’s history.

Two new genes linked to intellectual disability discovered

Researchers have found two new genes linked to intellectual disability.

In the first study, CAMH Senior Scientist Dr. John Vincent, who heads the MiND (Molecular Neuropsychiatry and Development) Laboratory in the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute at CAMH, and his team used microarray genotyping to map the genes of a large Pakistani family which had intermarriage. Five members of the youngest generation were affected with mild to moderate intellectual disability.

Sensex range-bound as RBI keeps key policy rates unchanged

Indian stock markets’ key indices – Sensex and Nifty – were range-bound with a negative bias Tuesday after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) left key interest rates unchanged, as expected.

The 30-scrip S&P Sensex (sensitive index) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened higher at 22,455.23 points, touched a new record high of 22,485.77 points intra-day.

However, the markets pared the gains and the Sensex was trading at 22,316.96 points at early afternoon session, down 69.31 points or 0.31 percent from its previous day close at 22,386.27 points.

One dies in road accident
(Siasat News): A government employee met with an accident in Rajendranagar while crossing the road and died on the spot.

According to Rajendranagar police the deceased Ashok Kumar Chaurasya, 50, was the resident of Shivrampally. He was a government employee but hailed from Rajasthan.

Yesterday, while crossing the road, he met with an accident that proved fatal for him. Police is further investigating.

Actress Ileana D’ Cruz, who has grooved with Varun Dhawan in “Main Tera Hero”, says dancing on screen makes her feel “traumatised”.

“I get traumatized dancing on screen…I get so self-conscious as I am not a dancer. I get very nervous, but I can dance well the minute I am not stressed,” Ileana said here in an interaction.

She says Varun made her feel “very comfortable” throughout the shooting of the film, which is directed by Varun’s father David Dhawan.

Teen-age committed suicide unable to bear the harrassment

On Sunday, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide in Jabbapur village, Gowraram mandal in Medak district.

The girl took the extreme step allegedly because she was sexually harassed by her employer. The victim, who worked at a poultry farm, was under pressure by her employer for sexual favors and was harassed when she refused.

According to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police, cockfight was being organised at Saat Amrai village of Shamsabad on Sunday. 10 to 15 people fled on seeing police vehicle while two of them were caught. 8 cocks, 7 bikes, 1 Nokia cell phone, Rs. 2000 cash were seized from their possession.

Shamsabad RGI sub inspector Srinivas told that T Srinivas R/O Madhuban colony and Rajendar Rao R/O Saat Amrai have been arrested.

A man died due to excessive drinking at Pahadi Shareef on the occasion of festival. Sub Inspector Mr. Vikram Singh told that 52-year-old Srinivas Reddy who was driver by occupation, R/O Manchal Maheshvaram, collected a wage of Rs. 500, after working on a tractor yesterday. Later he drank excessively. According to police he collapsed due to excessive drinking and died. Investigations are underway.

Dubai-born beauty Parul Shah wins Miss Philippines Tourism title

Parul Shah has been crowned Miss Philippines Tourism at the Miss Philippines 2014 pageant.

The daughter of a Dubai-based expats had made it as one of the 15 finalists in last year’s pageant but failed to bag a title, has won Philippines’ most coveted beauty pageant this year, Gulf News reported.

In a previous interview, she had revealed that winning the title had always been her dream.

RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 8% in monetary policy review

The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI) on Tuesday kept its key policy interest rate unchanged at eight percent.

Announcing the Annual Monetary Policy for 2014-15 here, Governor Raghuram Rajan said the growth rate for 2014-15 will be 5.5 per cent, while retail inflation is expected to be under 6 per cent during 2014.

Current account deficit is expected to come down to 2 per cent of GDP in 2013-14, he said. (ANI)

Pollutants acting as oestrogens are responsible for this phenomenon which, among other changes, is causing ovocytes — immature ova — to appear in male fish, biologists claimed.

The acquisition of feminine features by male fish has been detected, to a greater or lesser extent in all the estuaries — not only in the characteristics of the gonads of the specimens analysed but also in various molecular markers.

World’s tallest 550-foot Ferris wheel opens up for riders in Las Vegas

The tallest Ferris wheel in the world, dubbed High Roller, at 550-foot has opened up in Las Vegas for adrenaline-junkies.

The Ferris wheel, which holds up to 40 people in 28 glass-enclosed and air-conditioned gondolas, was built by Caesars Entertainment Corp. and provides riders with a view of the Las Vegas Strip, CBS News reported.

A full revolution takes half an hour and tickets are for 24.95 dollars in the daytime and 34.95 dollars at night.

Last week, 14-year-old Suvir Mirchandani was soaking up in the limelight after suggesting that the US govt. could save 400 million dollars by just changing font size, however, experts have said that may not be true at all.

FastCoDesign revealed that Mirchandani, for his middle-school science project, measured four different fonts – Times New Roman, Garamond, Comic Sans, and Century Gothic – and found that Garamond’s thin, light strokes resulted in a font that required 24 per cent less ink.

Japan raises sales tax after 17 years

Japan Tuesday raised its sales tax rate from 5 percent to 8 percent, marking the first sales tax hike in 17 years, reported Xinhua.

Riding bike was tough: Ekta Kapoor

Varun Dhawan took his film’s co-producer Ekta Kapoor for a bike ride to promote their film “Main Tera Hero” Monday. But thanks to her fear of two-wheelers, she found the experience tough.

Her fear has to do with an incidence in her childhood days.
