The fee for recounting of marks is Rs 350/- per paper and photo copy per paper is at Rs.100/- . The payment for obtaining photo copy and applying for recounting is though A.P.online only. Governor asks officials to assess requirement of additional forces

High Court wants municipal polls results declared on April 9

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities to declare the results of municipal elections on April 9.

Delivering its judgment, the High Court felt that the results of municipal polls should be declared on April 9 to ensure that the authorities abide its earlier order of completing the entire election process by April 10. Therefore, the counting of votes and declaration of results will now be done on April 9. (INN)

Australian jailed for racial attack on Indians

A court in Australia has sentenced a man to three years in jail for racially motivated attacks on two Indian nationals.

The Townsville District Court in Queensland state Monday heard that Brian Lou Douglas Lawton and another man approached a 26-year-old Indian man in Ayr town in October 2012, demanding that he hand over money.

When the Indian said he did not have any, Lawton punched and kicked him, ABC News reported Tuesday.

Six percent growth this fiscal possible with reforms: CII

India can achieve a growth rate over 6 percent in the 2014-15 financial year, provided systemic reforms are carried out quickly by the new government, Confederation of Indian Industry president Ajay S Shriram said here Tuesday.

147 FIRs filed against political parties in Delhi

A total of 147 FIRs have been registered against political parties for violating the model code of conduct here, said an Election Commission official Tuesday.

The model code of conduct came into force March 5 with the Lok Sabha election scheduled in the national capital April 10.

“A total of 20 FIRs have been registered against the Bharatiya Janata Party, 15 against the Congress and 14 have been lodged against the Aam Aadmi Party,” said the official.

Poll panel officials have also seized 47 unlicenced arms from members of political parties.

Indian-Canadian’s courthouse killing being probed

Police are investigating the case of an Indian-Canadian man, who was killed in a shootout with police in the Canadian province of Ontario.

Charnjit Singh Bassi, 45, was shot dead by police March 28 when he pulled his handgun out of a holster and fired at constable Michael Klarenbeek at a courthouse in Brampton.

Two police officers shot back, killing Bassi inside the courthouse, the Toronto Sun reported Monday.

Bassi was allegedly involved in drug trade, although he was never convicted.

He was officially unemployed for five years.

EC nod for RBI to issue new bank licences

The Election Commission Tuesday allowed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to issue new bank licences before the completion of general elections next month.

“The commission is of the view that Reserve Bank of India may take necessary action as deemed appropriate by the Bank,” the EC said on its website.

The RBI has sought the Election Commission’s nod over the issue of grant of new bank licences as a matter of caution on not violating the poll code of conduct, which came into force with the March 5 announcement of general elections.

Indian man stabbed to death on Saudi street

An expatriate Indian man was stabbed to death by a local Saudi man on a street near Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, media reported Tuesday.

The unnamed man was stabbed by a Saudi man on the street Monday, Arab News reported Tuesday. The man died on the spot. The reason for the murder was unclear, police said.

According to local news website, riyadhconnect.com, the man was an Indian national employed in a grocery store on Hamza Bin Abdul Muttalib Street in Al-Oraija district of Riyadh, a short distance from where he was attacked.

Graphic photographs from inside the home of Oscar Pistorius, which were taken by the South African police after the Paralympian fatally shot his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year, have reportedly been released to the media. The photos include blood-splattered images of the bathroom where Steenkamp was hit by four bullets fired from a 9-mm pistol through a door, along with an image of the bloodstained autographed cricket bat, which Pistorius used to break down the door after shooting.

Babul Supriyo accused of entering temple in a drunken state

A police complaint has been lodged against Bollywood singer and BJP candidate from West Bengal’s Asansol Babul Supriyo alleging he had entered a temple in a “drunken state”. Terming it “dirty politics”, Supriyo asserted he was a teetotaller.

The complaint has been filed by the Asansol Citizens’ Forum after a post saying “drinking vodka” appeared on the singer’s Facebook account Sunday hours before he visited a temple while campaigning.

My chopper was deliberately delayed: Modi

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Tuesday alleged that his chopper was deliberately delayed by the Delhi air traffic control when he was about to leave for an election rally in Bareilly.

In Bareilly, the Gujarat chief minister began his speech by apologising to the crowd for the delay in arriving.

He said the ATC did not permit his helicopter to take take off for over two hours on one pretext or the other.

Modi, however, told the people that nothing could prevent him from being with his own people and supporters.

23 Afghan militants killed as suicide vests explode

At least 23 militants were killed and nine others injured Tuesday in two separate incidents in Afghanistan — both involving accidental explosions of suicide vests, police said.

“Several Taliban leaders were instructing a group of militants about building suicide jackets and targeting security forces in a house in Gelan district of eastern Ghazni province. One suicide vest went off accidentally, killing 16 Taliban militants and injuring nine others,” provincial police chief Zorawar Zahid told Xinhua.

BJP-TDP talks continue for poll alliance

Talks between the TDP and the BJP for a poll alliance in Andhra Pradesh continued Tuesday amid indications that they are close to a deal.

Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were holding final round of talks in the national capital at the residence of Akali Dal MP Naresh Gujral.

According to BJP sources in Hyderabad, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley joined the talks Tuesday evening. The two sides are reportedly trying to overcome some irritants in the seat sharing.

Price rise will be checked in 6-12 months: Rajnath

BJP president Rajnath Singh Tuesday said the rising prices of essential commodities will be controlled in six to 12 months if the party comes to power at the centre.

“We do not promise that price hike will be controlled in one month but it will be controlled in six to 12 months,” he said while addressing a rally in Koderma, Jharkhand.

The BJP chief addressed five rallies in different parts of the state.
