A 22-year-old house wife committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Chappal Bazar of Kachiguda.

According to Kachiguda police, the deceased K Anusha W/o K Guruvesh R/o Chappal Bazaar of Kachiguda had allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her residence on Monday night hours, due to her in laws allegedly being mentally and physically harassed for additional dowry for last few months, deceased taking extreme step of suicide hanged herself.

Telugu movie star Nandamuri Balakrishna said here today that he would abide by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) high command’s decision on contesting elections to the legislative Assembly or Lok Sabha.

Movie star Balakrishna is son of the late founder of the Telugu Desam Party and Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N T Rama Rao as well as brother of former Union minister Purandeswari.

New power plant in AP starts generation

The first unit of Andhra Pradesh Government’s thermal power plant at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district has been synchronised with State power grid.

The first unit of Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) at Krishnapatnam has been synchronised with AP power grid, power generation entity Apgenco said in a statement today.

During the initial operation of about two hours, the unit reached a maximum load of 55.6 MW, generating about 0.086 million units (MU) of energy, it said.

Tax helpline in Odisha to curb black money in polls

The Odisha unit of the income tax department Tuesday said it has launched a helpline and a round-the-clock control room in the state to check use of black money in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Anyone can dial toll free number 1800-345-6114 to report movement of illegal cash.

A control room and complaint monitoring cell has become functional at the state headquarters of the income tax office in the capital to receive such information, a tax department official told IANS.

Teenager killed in accident, three injured

A 16-year-old boy was killed while three others were injured when the motorbike he was riding with a friend collided with another motorcycle here Tuesday, police said.

The accident took place around 12.30 p.m. in Bawana area of west Delhi.

Sabar died on the spot while his 18-year-old friend Sanki, along with two other people riding on another motorcycle – identified as Naveen, 18, and Kuldeep, 20 – were seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where they were stated to be out of danger.

Married housewife gangraped by four, 3 held

A married housewife (35) was allegedly gangraped by four men in the Pandesara area of the city here today, after which the police has nabbed three of them, sources said here today.

“The four accused had raped the victim in the wee hours when she was alone in her house, since her husband was at his job location,” Pandesara police inspector V G Patel said.

“All the accused were in an inebriated condition when they raped the women. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed anything to anybody,” he said.

Elderly woman, son found dead in Delhi home

A 60-year-old woman and her middle-aged son were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their home here Tuesday, police said.

Phoolwati and her 35-year-old son Sunil were found dead at their house in Inderpuri area of west Delhi around 4 p.m.

A police official said that prima facie it appears that both the victims died of strangulation.

Initial investigation indicated personal enmity as the house was not found ransacked, said the official.

Two women held for pushing minor girl into prostitution

Two commercial sex workers were arrested from powerloom town of Bhiwandi in the district today for allegedly pushing a 14-year-old girl into flesh trade, police said.

The victim, who hailed from Kolkata, is cousin sister of one of the sex workers, said Inspector Rajan Saste of Bhiwandi Shahar police station.

“She was held captive by the duo in a room behind Rohan Hotel near a brothel in Hanuman tekdi area,” he said.

Counting of votes in AP local body polls on April 9

Counting of votes in the elections to local bodies held in Andhra Pradesh would be taken up on April 9 instead of tomorrow as originally scheduled.

The directive was given by Andhra Pradesh High Court today on PILs seeking postponement of results and their declaration by the State Election Commission (SEC) after completion of second phase of polling for Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in AP scheduled for May 7.
