Harish rao lambasts Naidu for “False claims on T”

Senior TRS leader Harish Rao on Thursday lambasted TDP President Chandrababu Naidu for claiming that he was neither anti-Telangana nor had opposed the formation of a separate state.

Speaking to the media at the party headquarters here, Harish Rao, referred to the claims made by the TDP President at a public rally in Warangal yesterday and said that as a matter of fact it was Chandrababu Naidu who had created hurdles for the development of Telangana region for the past 15 years. He should feel ashamed to make such false claims to fool the people, the TRS leader observed.

K. S. rao’s belated Resignation over State Bifurcation

Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Thursday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted his resignation from the union cabinet.
Addressing the media after resigning from the cabinet, Rao claimed that he quit his ministry though belatedly for “failing to prevent bifurcation of state ( AP)” and also protesting against the central government’s failure to issue the required ordinance on certain promises made for the development of Seemandhra region.

Police seek sexual favours from rape victim to initiate the probe

A rape victim has to offers sexual favours to a policeman in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad district asked if she wanted him to investigate the rape case.

The rape victim’s father had lodged an FIR on 26 march, in Vijay nagar police station that his neighbour had raped his minor daughter and had also recorded an obsence MMS of her. Sensex declines to 22,514.30 after touching record-high

The benchmark BSE Sensex declined to 22,514.30 in morning trade today after touching another intra-day record-high of 22,620.65.

The NSE Nifty also eased by 9.65 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 6,742.90 after registering an all-time high of 6,776.75 earlier in the day.

However, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their buying spree and invested net Rs 594.67 crore yesterday, as per the provisional data from the stock exchanges.

Sex workers being harassed by police

Peoples Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has in a complaint with Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) as the sex workers alleged that the sex workers around K G Road, Majestic, Upparpet and surrounding areas are being subjected to violence and harassment by the police.

C G Hunagund, SHRC Commission Member taking cognisance of the complaint, has directed Commission’s Inspector General of Police to probe and submit a report by April 23.

2 school employees held for strip punishment

The city police cracked the whip on the management of a Tolichowki school where a five-year old was stripped last Saturday and arrested two employees of the institution accused of committing the outrageous act. The action was taken by a police team along with the members of AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Woman burns self at Rainbazar

A woman committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at Rainbazar. According to Rainbazar police 27-year-old Sadia Begum W/O Fasihuddin, R/O Rainbazar poured kerosene over her body and set herself ablaze on March 29. She died yesterday while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

AAP fields former judge Fakhruddin against Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded former Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh High Court judge Justice Fakhruddin against Congress president Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareli for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

His name was announced as part of the 14th list of Lok Sabha candidates by AAP.

Gandhi, the three-time MP from the constituency, filed her nomination papers on Wednesday.

Sonia has represented Rae Bareli since 2004, but the Nehru-Gandhi family’s association with the constituency dates back to 1951, when Feroze Gandhi first won the Lok Sabha polls here.

3,000-year-old mummified teddy story was elaborate April Fool’s hoax

The story about archaeologists unearthing a 3,000-year-old mummified teddy bear has turned out to be a very elaborate joke for April Fool’s Day.

It was reported that Ancient Egyptians not only cuddled with the toys but also worshipped them, the Daily Express reported.

It was said that the toy was excavated in a funerary deposit in the Valley of the T’eds, near Luxor in Egypt and was perfectly preserved and was found in its own miniature coffin. (ANI)

UK student hopes to set world record by bouncing 26.2 miles on pogo stick

A 24-year-old student is hoping to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by bounding on a pogo stick for 26.2 miles in Manchester, UK.

Jack Sexty is also hoping that his bouncing act will raise at least 2,000 pounds for Alzheimer’s research, which is a cause close to his heart because of his grandfather’s diagnosis, the Daily Star reported.

Sexty said that he has been practicing on a pogo stick in carefully selected quiet locations, much to the bewilderment of a few dog walkers.

Dispute between two brothers led to one’s death
(Siasat News): Dispute between two brothers at Rein Bazar in old city led to one’s death. Inspector Rein Bazar Mr. Ramesh said two brothers Abdul Rahman, 40 and Maqsood Ali, residents of Kotla Hasanullah, had been living in the same house.

Abdul Rahman died when he was attacked by Maqsood. Rahman was an auto driver. Maqsood was said to be mentally retarded and used to quarrel with his family members.

Toyota India workers on fast as stand-off continues

Agitating workers of auto maker Toyota India resorted to an indefinite fast as a stand-off with the company’s management continued 10 days after a week-long lockout was lifted March 24.

“As the management is not ready to consider our demand that it should not insist on signing a conduct letter to resume work, about 20 employees are on an indefinite fast,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor Employees’ Union president Prasanna Kumar told IANS Thursday.

About 4,000 workers are on a sit-in demonstration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the factory gate.

Pervez Musharraf survives assassination bid

Pervez Musharraf, former Pakistani president survived an assassination attempt on Thursday. According to reports, his convoy escaped a blast in Islamabad.

This comes days after Pakistani Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif is said to have advised the government to allow Musharraf, indicted for treason, to go overseas for treatment and to look after his ailing mother.

The blast reportedly struck Faizabad Bridge late on Wednesday night, when Mr Musharraf was being transported from a military hospital to his farm house on the outskirts of Islamabad.
