A mother, who was separated from her daughter when the latter was just two-years-old, found her lost child after two decades via a Facebook picture.

Sarah Mowbray said that her daughter, now 22, had been taken away from her and given to foster parents because she was struggling as a teenage mum, the Daily Star reported.

Mowbray said that she knew her daughter Kayleigh Marie Watts’s first names and searched ‘ Kayleigh Marie ‘ on the social networking site, but after scouring through many results, she finally saw a picture of a woman who had a striking resemblance to her.

Twitter and American Airlines help reunite woman with ‘future hubby’

A woman from New York City was reunited with the ‘man of her dreams’, who she met while travelling on a flight, through Twitter and American Airlines .

Erica Domesek took to the social networking site when she realised that she had met her “future husband” after she got off from the flight, Metro.co.uk reported.

But the twist in her love story was that she did not have his full name or any contact details.

Domesek asked the airlines if they wanted to play match maker after telling her what the man looked like and her flight number.

Musharraf departs from hospital to reach special court for high treason case hearing

Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has reached the special court for hearing of the high treason case after departing from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).

Late on Saturday, Musharraf was moved to the AFIC’s ICU after his condition deteriorated due to stress after receiving news of his mother’s illness, who is currently hospitalised in Sharjah and is suffering from respiratory complications, Dawn News reports.

According to the report, earlier, non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Musharraf in case he failed to appear before the court.(ANI)

US achieves no breakthrough on Ukraine despite ‘frank talks’ with Russia

Secretary of State John Kerry has announced no breakthrough has been reached on Ukraine after hours of deliberations with Russia.

The comments from Kerry came after four hours of ‘frank’ talks with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

Kerry said he told Lavrov that the United States still considered Russia’s takeover of Ukraine’s Crimea region to be ‘illegal and illegitimate,’ the BBC reports.

Kerry stressed that no decision on Ukraine’s future could be made without Kiev’s involvement.

Congress writes to EC, seeks BJP apology over ‘unverified’ claims on Imran Masood

Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Monday said that action taken by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) against former Delhi Law Minster Somnath Bharti was correct as the behavior showed by the minister was extremely shameful, vulgar and unparliamentarily.

Egypt’s presidential vote to be held on May 26 and 28

Egypt has set dates for the presidential election, which will be held on May 26 and 28, the Electoral Commission has announced.

The crucial vote is expected to be won by former military chief, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, who ousted elected president, Mohammed Morsi, last year.

The election commission said the results are expected by June 5, and if a second round is necessary it will be held by mid-month with results announced no later than June 26, Fox News reports.

El-Sissi has resigned from the military to run for office-a requirement since only civilians can run for president.

SC commutes death sentence of Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar to life imprisonment

The Supreme Court on Monday commuted the death sentence of convict, Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, in the 1993 bomb blast in New Delhi, which killed 12 people and injured 29 others, to life imprisonment.

The government had told the apex Court on Thursday that it had no problem with the commutation of death penalty of Bhullar.

Bhullar, a Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) militant, was sentenced to death in 2001 for causing a car bomb.

The government said that a delay in the deciding mercy plea was ground enough for commutation of his death sentence.

Paris elects Anne Hidalgo as first female mayor

Paris has elected its first woman mayor Anne Hidalgo , who beat her centre-right rival Nathalie-Kosciuscko- Morzet.

The 54-year-old Socialist, who was expected to win at least 93 council seats to 70 for the centre-right, claimed 54.5 per cent of second round votes in the capital, the Independent reported.

66 cr cash were seized; book 1,235 cases so far

So far, police seized Rs 66.32 crore cash and registered 1,235 cases across the state since the announcement of poll schedule on March 3 for elections to 146 urban local bodies and 10 municipal corporations.

As per the State Election Commission (SEC) guidelines, strict watch has been maintained to rein in movement of cash, gifts, liquor, contraband and other inducements premeditated for influencing voters.
