State municipal elections on March 30

The much awaited municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh will be held on March 30.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, State Election Commissioner P Ramakanth Reddy informed that the elections to 146 municipalities and 10 municipal corporations would be held on the same day. The counting of votes will take place on April 2. He also clarified that the municipal elections would not clash with the Lok Sabha and Assembly which are likely to be held in April.

Breakthrough in Esther case: One suspect held in Nashik

City police today claimed to have achieved a breakthrough in the killing of Hyderabad techie Esther Anuhya, with the arrest of a suspect from Nashik.

The suspect, identified as Chandrabhan Sanap (38), has been apprehended from Nashik and placed under arrest after
being brought here, police said.

Sanap was produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody till March 15, police said.

Sanap resembled the man who was spotted with Esther in a CCTV footage at the Kurla railway terminus on January 5, the day she went missing, they said.

Two security personnel killed in Pakistan blast

At least two security personnel were killed and four injured when a bomb exploded near an army vehicle in Pakistan’s northwest tribal region of Khyber Agency Monday, official sources said.
