Afridi, Ajmal new additions to Sachin-led MCC side for Lord’s bicentenary match

Veteran Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal have reportedly been included among the list of players being confirmed for this year’s Lord’s bicentenary match.

The match will take place between Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns Lord’s and is captained by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, and a Rest of the World XI, which will be led by Australia great Shane Warne.

Imran Khan says US against peace in Pakistan

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan has said some elements, including the United States, were against peace in Pakistan.

Khan also said that an operation in North Waziristan region was not in favour of Pakistan, adding that an action should be taken only against those militants who did not want to carry out peace talks.

According to Dawn News, Khan also called on the Nawaz government to identify those behind anti-state conspiracies. (ANI)

(Siasat News): The crime party of Malkajgiri police has arrested a 4-member gang involved in chain snatching in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

It is said that the kingpin of the gang was auto driver Sushil Kumar. He was involved in the crime along with his associates Imroz, Stanley and Ashwin.

Fight not against Modi but hate politics: Arvind Kejriwal

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that his fight was not against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi but to finish hate politics in the country.

“I did not take a decision to fight against Narendra Modi. If Sanjay Singh has said so, ask him the reason for it,” said Kejriwal.

“It is not important to fight against anyone. The most important fight is for the people. We want to finish hate politics and bring up love amongst people,” he said.

I quit after studying my role, says Lok Pal search committee head: K.T Thomas

Justice K.T. Thomas who quit as the head of the Lokpal Search Committee panel on Monday said that he withdrew from his post after he studied his role and said that there was no need to set up another committee.

“The Lokpal Search Committee was formed to help the Select Committee and the search committee can only select from the list provided by the government. I withdrew after I studied my role. I do not understand why should there be another committee set up on public expense?” said Thomas.

Brad Pitt, who looked dapper in a tuxedo when he arrived on the red carpet at the 86th Annual Academy Awards, had worn fiance Angelina Jolie’s jewelry designs.

The buttons and cufflinks on the ‘ 12 Years a Slave ‘ star’s tux were from Jolie’s jewelry line, known as Jolie’s Style, with Robert Procop, People Magazine reported.

Both the stylish designs were tablet-cut diamonds set into yellow gold.

Video of soon-to-be-released 2014 HTC One has been reportedly leaked, in which the upcoming smartphone has been compared to its 2013 predecessor.

A developer edition of 2014 HTC One has been fully detailed in a 12-minute video, showing the redesigned smartphone’s slightly curvier and softer look.

According to The Verge, the display of the smartphone appeared enlarged from 4.7 to 5 inches, while the headphone jack could be found at the bottom of the phone and the top has a black plastic panel, and the side includes a microSD card slot.

Petr Cech bags Czech Republic’s ‘player of the year’ award for sixth consecutive time

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has reportedly been voted the Czech Republic’s player of the year for 2013 for the sixth time in a row.

Cech won the poll of players, coaches, football federation officials and journalists for the sixth year consecutively and seventh time overall, the report added.

According to the Daily Star, Cech had helped Chelsea win the Europa League last year but had failed to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil as part of the national team.

An enterprising association of prostitutes in Barcelona has caused outrage among some of Spain’s most prominent feminists by offering an “intro to prostitution” course.

At a cost of 45 euro’s a person, Asociacion de Profesionales del Sexo, a group of eight sex workers who lobby for better rights for those in the industry, held a four-hour intensive course for aspiring sex workers last month.

Course organiser Conxa Borrell said that all professionals need some training, asserting that sex work was no different.

Twitter installs two log cabins as diners for employees in San Francisco Headquarters

Twitter is reportedly planning to install two log cabins, dating back to1800’s, in its headquarters in San Francisco.

The social network site intends to use the log cabins as a dining area for its employees.

Lundberg Design, one of the firms that designed the space at Twitter’s headquarters, came up with the idea when the company moved there in 2012 and was looking for ways to divide up Twitter’s dining space, Mashable reported.

Junior doctors’ strike cripples medical services in UP

Medical services remained paralysed in Uttar Pradesh, as the strike by junior doctors entered third day today following the arrest of their co-workers after a scuffle with a legislator.

Patients faced the brunt of the strike as doctors did not turn up in hospitals alleging that the administration was torturing the medical students .

An irate relative of a patient, Laxmi Narayan, highlighted the plight of the patients due to the ongoing strike.

Sahara chief Subrata Roy to be produced before SC today

Sahara chief Subrata Roy will be produced before the Supreme Court today. He was brought to Delhi on Monday night after an overnight halt in Agra.

The order to arrest Roy was issued on February 26 after he failed to appear in connection with a case in which his company was directed to return Rs. 20,000 crore to investors.

Roy surrendered last Friday and was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police .

He was lodged in a guest house of the state forest department at Kukrail in Lucknow after a local court directed the state police to keep him in its custody till March 4. (ANI)

Actress Vidya Balan, who started her innings in showbiz with TV, will be seen back on the small screen for an International Women’s Day special.

The “Hum Paanch” actress will be seen as the host of “No More Kamzor”, which will talk of women who have struggled and overcome problems.

“The programme that we are doing ‘No More Kamzor’…it is for girls of all ages. We started with children and I recited a poem with them. It was just wonderful energy,” the 33-year-old said here Monday during the shoot of the show.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 87 percent.

Hooda made illegal marriage: INLD

Alleging that Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had illegally married a woman and even has a teenaged son from her, opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leaders Monday sought his immediate resignation.

Addressing media here, INLD general secretary Abhay Singh Chautala alleged that Hooda had married a Dehradun-based woman in 1992 even though he was already married.

“This is a very serious issue. The Congress high command should immediately remove him as chief minister and expel him from the party,” he demanded.

THE STATION OF MURAQABAH

Muraqabah is knowing that Allah is watching over us. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says:

Nominations invited for B.M. Birla Science Prize

The B.M. Birla Science Centre has invited nominations from heads of science research centres, educational institutions and universities for the B.M. Birla Science Prize in Chemistry and Mathematics for the year 2013.

Sourav Ganguly hires IIMC graduates for brand management

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has hired graduates from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) for his brand management.

An IIMC source said that Ganguly hired the graduates for his personal brand management. However, it could not be confirmed from the former captain.

“We had a star attraction this time on campus in the form of Sourav Ganguly who came to recruit for a niche brand management and marketing role,” an IIMC statement said.

Meanwhile, the IIMC said it had completed the final placements for its class of 2014.
