Pak to review relations with US in war against terror post Mehsud’s killing

Pakistan has announced to review the ‘entire perspective’ of its cooperation with Washington in the war against terror.

According to the Daily Times, the comments were made by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar in retaliation to US drone strike that killed TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud .

Nisar told a press conference in a forthright criticism of the US that Pakistan does not see this strike as an attack on a person, it is an attack on the peace process.

He added that Islamabad’s efforts have been ambushed. It was not even an ambush from the front.

New smart glasses could help blind navigate

Scientists are in the process of developing a pair of “smart glasses” that is going to help blind people navigate unfamiliar territory by recognizing objects or translating signs into speech.

Researchers from Oxford University in England are trying to create a set of sophisticated glasses that use camera and software to find objects and display them on the lenses of glasses, Discovery News reported.

The smart glass consists of two small cameras mounted on the corners of the glasses capture two different pictures, just as human eyes do.

The 18-year-old Siberian beauty known as Shatuniha, described herself as “new, not used” and claimed that she was in an urgent need of money.

US, Germany to ink two way no-spy deal

Germany and the United States are signing a two-way deal not to spy on each other.

The move comes in the wake of the diplomatic furore sparked by the Edward Snowden revelations.

According to news24, a delegation of German chancellery and intelligence officials reached the deal during talks at the White House this week, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) reported in its Sunday edition.

Back injury forces McCullum out of remainder of Bangladesh series

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the final two matches of the Bangladesh leg of the Kiwis’ tour including today’s third ODI and Wednesday’s T20I, with a bad back.

According to Stuff.co.nz, McCullum underwent an MRI scan on his back and the side’s medical team decided it was best to get him home for further review and to begin rehabilitation.

Seven victims of Andhra train accident identified

Seven of the eight Bokaro Express passengers who were run over by another train near Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh Saturday night have been identified, police said.

All the bodies were shifted to railway hospital at Visakhapatnam. “One body is yet to be identified,” a police official said Sunday.

One of the two injured is in critical condition.

The dead have been identified as Alexis, 27, Shweta Singh, 33, Samhita, 10, Shaurya, 2, Tara Devi, 34, Kartik Sahu, 70, and Lokender Kumar, 28.

Police record statement of actress in ‘molestation’ case

Leading Malayalam film actress Shweta Menon, who was allegedly molested by Congress MP N Peethambara Kurup at the President’s Boat race event at Kollam two days back, today gave her statement on the incident to police.

A police team from Kollam, including a woman Circle Inspector arrived here at 9 AM and recorded Shweta’s statement at her residence. The actress reportedly broke down while the statement was being recorded.

The police team refused to disclose the details.

Pakistani folk singer Reshma is dead

Renowned Pakistani folk singer Reshma, who was suffering from throat cancer for a long time, died in Lahore Sunday morning, hospital sources said.

Reshma was in coma for a month, Geo TV quoted hospital sources as saying.

Born in Bikaner in India’s Rajasthan state to a Banjara family around 1947, her tribe migrated to Karachi shortly after partition.

30 Al Shabaab militants killed in Somalia

At least 30 Al Shabaab militants were killed by joint Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Somalia National Army (SNA) near the Kenyan border Saturday, Kenya’s military officials said.

The Somali and Kenyan soldiers attacked the militants’ hideout in Kolbio in southern Somalia, Xinhua quoted Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir as saying.

“Somali National Army killed over 30 Al Shabaab militants in Kolbio, close to Kenya border,” Chirchir tweeted, adding that seven AK-47 were recovered from the hideout.
