Israel, Palestinians to hold fresh talks

Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiation teams are to hold a new round of talks Tuesday, according to Israel Radio.

Without specifying the venue of the meeting, the radio quoted well-informed Israeli sources as saying that the new round of peace talks will be held between the chiefs of the two negotiations teams — Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat and Israeli Minister of Justice Tzipi Livni, Xinhua reported.

The sources said the Tuesday’s meeting will be a continuation to a meeting held Saturday in Jerusalem. The two teams refrained from giving press statements to reporters.

US Marines website hacked

Pro-Syria hackers broke into the internet recruiting site for the US Marine Corps, posting a message that urged US soldiers to refuse orders if Washington decides to attack Syria.

The site, www.marines.com, was paralysed for several hours Monday and redirected to a seven-sentence message “delivered by SEA” — short for the Syrian Electronic Army.

The SEA is a hacker group that claimed responsibility for disrupting the New York Times, social networking website Twitter and others media websites, Xinhua reported.

Assad slams Western claims about Syrian chemical attack

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said he believed western countries have no evidence about his administration’s involvement in a chemical attack and warned of grave consequences over the West’s “aggression against Syria.”

“If the Americans, French or British have evidence about the alleged chemical weapon attack, they would have declared it,” Xinhua quoted the president as telling French daily Le Figaro in an interview.

MAANUU Teachers’ Association elections today

One of the conditions for submission of scholarship forms is to furnish separate phone number for each application. If a family has (3) or (4) students studying in various classes separate phone number have to be furnished in each case. The last date of submission of applications for scholarship is 10th September. The students are required to submit bonafide certificate, ration card, aadhar card or Bank pass book copy with mark sheets and photos.

Anti-al-Qaida leader escapes assassination in Iraq

Iraqi authorities say that a prominent leader of a militia opposed to al-Qaida has escaped an assassination attempt that left five bodyguards killed and four others wounded.

Interior Ministry spokesman Saad Maan Ibrahim said the today afternoon attack occurred when two suicide bombers attacked the motorcade of Wisam al-Hardan near his house in Baghdad’s western Harthiyah neighborhood.

The Sunni tribal sheik was not hurt in the attack.

Salman speaks great Marathi, says Riteish

Praising Salman Khan for his command over Marathi language, actor-turned-producer Riteish Deshmukh says the superstar was keen on being a part of his Marathi venture ‘Lai Bhaari’.

Salman will be seen in a special appearance in Riteish’s second Marathi production ‘Lai Bhaari’, which also marks the latter’s debut in Marathi films as an actor.

“He (Salman) offered to be part of the film. He is a big star. He was gracious enough to tell me that I want to do a scene in the film,” Riteish told PTI in an interview here.

P.M’s 15-point formula schemes reviewed by Minorities Commission

It seems that 15-Point Program of P.M. of India has been safely kept in cold storage without any implementation. Minority Development Officers of Districts expressed their helplessness in the implementation of the schemes pertaining to this program. Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman, A.P. Sangakkara meets SLC to thrash out Champions League

Senior batsman Kumar Sangakkara and officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) met today to sort out their differences arousing after the board questioned his loyalty towards the country while playing in the upcoming Champions League T20.

Woman gang-raped by four men, set afire in Madhya Pradesh

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and then set on fire by four men in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The victim, who was admitted in a critical condition in a hospital at Bankhedi here, succumbed to her injuries two days ago, police said.

The woman, residing in Simaria village, had come to her mother’s place in Dumar village where her neighbours identified as Hamid, Irshad Khan, Aashiq and Raees Khan took turns to assault her over an alleged property dispute, they said.
