Islamic Library award function today

The fifth Mohd Abdul Jabbar Khan cash award function of Idara Mehdiviya Islamic Library will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Meridian Function Palace at Malakpet in which toppers of SSC and Intermediate for the year 2012-13 would be given cash awards. Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman, A.P. State Minorities Commission, Mr. Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily and Dr. Nizam Ali Khan (USA) will be the Chief Guest. Mahboob Ali Khan’s palace in Srisailam Tigers’ Reserves neglected

Srisailam Tigers’ Reserves forest is the largest area of A.P., which spreads over 3568 acres. Its adjoining districts are Nalagonda, Mahboob Nagar, Karnool, Prakasham and Guntur. It is said that the credit of reserving this area for Tigers goes to the 6th Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. He used to visit this area for hunting the tigers. He got a palace constructed in this area but it is in dilapidated condition. Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan used to visit this area along with 30 of this campaign for hunting.

India not ready to play by rules, say US lawmakers

Top American lawmakers on Friday criticised India’s trade and business policies, saying that New Delhi is not willing to play by the rules.

“When you look at India’s industrial policy, trade barriers, the rampant piracy, the tax discrimination and what appears to be an absolute disregard for our intellectual property rights, you realise that India is a country that is not willing to play by the rules right now,” Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn said at a Congressional hearing.

Automated Mail Procession Center’s Foundation Stone laid by C.M.

Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy laid the foundation stone for Automated Mail Procession Center at Padda Golconda village under Shamsabad Mandal near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on 3.03 acre area. It is propose to construct a spacious building at a cost of Rs.60 crore. This center will be helpful in the procession of Mail fast where in two latest machine would be setup. One machine would sort out the letters and other one will separate large sized letters this machine would sort out 35, 000 letters in one hour. Old tree fell down in Secretariat yesterday

In the security zone of C.M. a big tree fell down damaging two vehicles and injuring one security guard Murli Krishna. He was rushed to hospital immediately. This incident took place in Secretariat at 12 noon yesterday immediately after C.M. left the place. It is very strange to note that the tree fell down as there was no strong wind blowing. It was bent a little and it was expected that it would fall anytime but the concern staff did not bother about it. It was very fortunate that there were not many people underneath the tree.

Telangana NGO’s donate half a day’s salary for Uttrakhand relief

The Joint Action Committee of Telanagana employee, teachers, Gazetted Officers’ and Pensioners has decided to donate half a day’s salary for the victims of Uttrakhand flood in Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Mr. G.Devi Prasad, President and Mr. E.Srinivas Goud, Co-Chairman of Telangana Joint Action Committee and General Secretary of Telangana NGO’s announced this decision yesterday.

Counting of votes begin in Himachal

Counting of votes for the Mandi parliamentary bypoll in Himachal Pradesh began at 8 a.m. Sunday and the result is expected by noon, election officials said here.

The fate of four candidates, including two independents, will be decided during the day.

Nearly 53 percent of the 11,24,786 electors exercised their franchise in two phase of voting held June 23 and 27.

The main contestants are Congress’s Pratibha Singh, wife of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and former cabinet minister Jai Ram Thakur.

UAE warns citizens against travelling to Egypt

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saturday called on its citizens to avoid unnecessary trips to Egypt due to its unstable political situation.

The warning by the foreign ministry was issued as Egypt is witnessing protests by both supporters and opponents of Mohamed Morsi, who will observe Sunday as his first anniversary as Egyptian president, Xinhua reported.

But he will also face massive demonstrations that day against him due to his poor performance since last June.

Youth sent to gallows for raping, killing 4-year-old girl

A local court sentenced a 23-year-old youth to death today for raping and killing a minor girl last year in Dewa area of the district.

In April last year, four-year-old Babli went missing from Gwari village and her body was found in a field next day, government counsel Raj Kumar said.

With the help of sniffer dog police tracked the accused Ranjeet (23) and arrested him, he said.

Today, Additional Sessions Judge Rajesh Singh held Ranjeet guilty and announced the sentence.

U’Khand speaker pegs death toll at 10,000; Shinde says 900

Two weeks after flashfloods and landslides devastated Uttarakhand, there was no clarity on the death toll with state Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal claiming today that it may cross 10,000 while Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde pegged it at 900.

Kunjwal claimed in Almora that the death toll can cross 10,000. “Earlier when I returned from a tour of Garhwal region I believed the casualty figure could be 4,000 to 5,000. But now as per my information and bodies being seen by the people, I can say the figure can cross the 10,000 mark,” he said.

ICC acts tough on ball tampering

The International Cricket Council (ICC) in its bid to crack down on ball tampering is all set to bring in strict rules in the form of run penalty and reporting the captain under Code of Conduct.

The ICC Board during its annual conference, that concluded here Saturday, accepted its Chief Executive Committee’s (CEC) recommendations on curbing ball tampering.

The CEC recommended that when the umpire believes the ball has been tampered but there is no eye witness then the umpire must replace the ball and give the captain a first and final warning.

10 killed, 22 injured in Iraq attacks

At least 10 people were killed and 22 suffered injuries in separate incidents of shooting and bomb attacks in Iraq, police said Saturday.

Three policemen, heading to join their base after vacations, were killed when some gunmen attacked their car in Fallujah city, some 50 km from Baghdad, reported Xinhua citing a police source who requested anonymity.

Three people died while 11 injured in another incident when a roadside bomb went off at a marketplace in Abu Ghraib area, near Baghdad, the source added.

Five missiles seized in Egypt

A vehicle loaded with five missiles was seized Saturday in Egypt’s North Sinai’s city of Rafah, bordering the Gaza Strip, while a security officer was killed in the area later in the day.

“The car was carrying five Grad rockets, a number of grenades, land mines and machine guns,” reported Xinhua citing a source.

At a checkpoint, the border securitymen shot at two suspected vehicles passing through the mountain area in North Sinai and managed to seize one while the other escaped, said the source.

Iran’s president-elect vows to ease tensions with world

Iranian President-elect Hassan Rouhani said Saturday that his administration would pursue the policy of easing tensions with the world.

Talking during a live programme on the state IRIB TV, Rouhani said his international and domestic policies would be based on a “balanced approach” and prevent any extremism, Xinhua reported.

Rouhani said his “moderate” policies will aim at “constructive interaction with the world”. But he also said that in foreign policy, he would neither surrender to pressures nor seek confrontation.

Chinese couple ‘having sex against window fall to their deaths after glass broke’

A couple in China fell to their deaths when the glass of a window they were having sex against shattered.

The witnesses told the media that both of them held onto each other tightly as they fell down from their apartment to the pavement below, the Mirror reported.

A report suggested that lovers were having sex by the window to keep cool during the hot weather in the city of Wuhan.

A biomarker reflecting expression levels of two genes in tumor tissue may be able to predict which women treated for estrogen-receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer should receive a second estrogen-blocking medication after completing tamoxifen treatment.

In their report Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center investigators describe finding that the HOXB13/IL17BR ratio can indicate which women are at risk for cancer recurrence after tamoxifen and which are most likely to benefit from continuing treatment with the aromatase inhibitor letrozole (Femara).

US woman gets life for chopping off ex-hubby’s ****

A US woman, who was found guilty of cutting off her former husband’s penis and putting it in a garbage disposal, has been handed life sentence for the bizarre act.

Catherine Kieu, from California, may seek parole after seven years.

According to Kieu’s attorney’s, she had mental health problems because she had to suffer abuse as a child and by her estranged hubby also, the BBC reported.

But the victim said that he lost part of his life and identity after the attack.
