We have to respect Saudi labour laws: Oommen Chandy

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday told the State Assembly that the concerns of Kerala on the strict implementation of the new labour policy in Saudi Arabia were being conveyed to that government.

He cautioned, however, that nothing could be said or done that would affect the good relations that the state enjoyed with Saudi Arabia.

Dharmana prasada rao appears before court

Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasada Rao on Monday attended the CBI court in the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Disproportionate Assets case.

Dharmana’s continuance in the ministry has come under severe criticism from many quarters including a minister. Though he resigned immediately after being named in the case, it was not accepted and the cabinet has taken a decision not prosecute him.

The cabinet decision was returned by Governor ESL Narasimhan for reconsideration but still he continued in the cabinet and is being attending official work.

TDP leaders meet Guv on power charges hike

TDP leaders today met Governor ESL Narasimhan and submitted him a memorandum to ask the government to roll back the prices.

A delegation of TDP leaders met the Governor and urged him to direct the government to withdraw the hike in power charges.

Elsewhere, the party leaders held dharnas protesting against the hike in power charges. (INN)

Two die in Chinese fighter jet crash

Two pilots were killed when their Su-27 fighter jet crashed near the city of Rongcheng in east China’s Shandong province Sunday, said authorities.

The crash occurred at 1.35 p.m. when the pilots were in the middle of a training mission. No collateral damage on the ground was reported, said Xinhua citing the air force.

Minor fell in pit, dies
(Siasat News): A 3-year-old minor boy fell into a water pit and died. This incident occurred at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Chatrinaka.

The deceased Raghuvender was the son of one Ramakrishna, a mistri by profession. The boy was playing near his house last evening and during the play, he went missing.

The worried parents started to search him and ultimately found him dead in a water pit. Ramakrishna started crying and called the people around to help him get out the dead body of his son.

PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W.S.) WAS SENT AS AN EXAMPLE

Train tickets, freight tariff to be costlier from today

Travelling in trains is set to become costlier as the hike in reservation fee and superfast charges announced in the Rail Budget come into effect from today.

Besides hike in passenger fares, freight rate for all commodities will also go up by about 5.7 per cent.

The Railways expect to earn Rs. 42,210 crore from passenger traffic and Rs. 93,554 crore from goods transportation in 2013-14.

Deepak Bhardwaj murder case: Delhi police make first arrest

The Delhi police on Monday made first arrest in the case of the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party leader and business tycoon Deepak Bhardwaj in his south Delhi farmhouse.

Police have arrested Purushottam, who was seen in the CCTV footage brandishing his gun along with his accomplice who was running ahead.

The grey-coloured Skoda car used in the sensational murder has also been recovered.

Its owner Rakesh has also been detained. The killers, police said, after committing the crime had returned the car to Rakesh.

Woman stabbed to death by teenage jilted lover

A 22-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her teenage jilted lover and his aides in Mahanagar area, police said here.

Pooja Mishra was stabbed by Manish Mandal (18), the son of a police man, and his aides Suraj and Amir at her residence behind Reserve Police Lines on Sunday night, they said.

The victim was rushed to a trauma centre where doctors declared her dead, police said.

Pooja was married to Sunil Bhujwa and the couple resided in New Hyderabad colony. Later she came close to Manish, who resided in the police lines, they said.

Hasina pledges to punish online insults against Islam

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today pledged stern action against people found guilty of defaming Islam using the internet as right-wing Islamic parties threatened to wage an intensified street campaign against “atheist bloggers”.

“You (Islamic parties) do not need to go for any movement. As a Muslim, I have the responsibility to take action,” Hasina said at a party meeting of her ruling Awami League, this evening.

April Fool celebrations are not Islamic

The celebrations of “April Fool” have nothing to do with the teachings of Islam. Making fun of others in the name of “April Fool” and teasing others are anti-Islamic activities.

We should refrain from such things. Telling lies on the occasion of “April Fool” is a deceit and a sin. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said that “any one who tells lies and cheats others, is not from us. Allah (SWT) reduces his food”.

According to a press note issued by Maulana Khalid Saifulah Rahmani, Director of Al-Maahad-Ul-Aali-Al-Islami, an International level English medium school would start functioning on the campus of Maahad in June 2013.

Sunny Monday morning, cloudy day ahead in Delhi

It was a bright, pleasant Monday morning in Delhi with the minimum temperature settling a notch below average at 17.9 degrees Celsius. The met office has forecast a partly cloudy day ahead.

“The sky will be clear in the morning and it will turn partly cloudy towards evening,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum temperature on Monday is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, the IMD official added.

Humidity at 8.30 am was 75 percent.

Fictional teachings included in Bible
