CM seeks exemption of state students from NEET, writes letter to G N Azad

Andhra Pradesh government has urged the centre to exempt the students belonging to the state from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Sending a letter to the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Chief Minister requested the Centre to issue an order exempting the State from the proposed NEET-2013.

Biodiversity exhibition special train to arrive on Oct 9

‘Science Exhibition-Biodiversity Special’, a mobile Exhibition Train will arrive in Secunderabad on October 9. The train will be kept for public viewing at Secunderabad Railway Stations from October 9 to 19, a press release from SCR said here today.

A treasure trove of knowledge, the special train which had already halted at Vijayawada and Nellore in August this year, is scheduled to arrive Kazipet on October 4 and it will be kept for public viewing upto October 8, The Science Exhibition will be open for public viewing from 1000 hours to 1800 hours.

Ambedkar National Congress offers donation for Assam victims

National president Ambedkar National Congress Mr. Mohammed Kazim Ali Khan handed over a cheque of 1 lakh rupees to news editor Siasat Mr. Amer Ali Khan for Assam riot victims. TDP leaders offer prayers for Chief’s yatra

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers and leaders have been offering prayers in churches, darghas and temples for the success of party Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra beginning tomorrow, in a bid to revive the electoral prospects of the party. A large number of women activists led by party’s Mahila Wing President Shobha Hymavati leaders have offered prayers at the Dargah located at Nampally. India signed Protocol, yet to be rectify it: Farooqui

India was one of the 51 countries which signed the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP MOP 6) protocol and was in the process of ratifying it. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties which began here today , the Conference of Parties serving as the Meeting of Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COPMOP-5) Mr Farooqui said the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress was adopted at the last meeting of the Parties in Nagoya Japan in 2010.

People donate blood at AP medical camp

At the mega medical camp organised at the Ideal PG college premises here today to mark the voluntary blood donor’s day, Dr Paramahamsa donated blood for the 101st time and S Sekhar 84th time.

Over 200 students also donated blood at the camp jointly organised by the Kakinada voluntary blood donors club, Rotary blood Bank and district AIDS control society. Dr P Chiranjivini Kumary presided over the camp.

Jyothula Venkateswerarao Blood donors club chairman who was the chief guest said their club during the last ten years had supplied 16,500 blood units to the needy patients.

Kingfisher declares temporary lockout till Thursday: Airline official

Kingfisher Airlines tonight declared a partial lock-out with immediate effect and suspended till Thursday flight operations which came to a grinding halt following a strike by a section of its employees.

In a statement, the Vijay Mallya-owned private carrier said it has been forced to declare a “partial lock-out” following a series of “protracted and unabated incidents of violence, criminal intimidation, assault, wrongful restraint and other illegal acts” including refraining from attending work, by a small section of “recalcitrant” employees.

Sridhar Babu Skips MPs’ Meeting Near His House

Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu has failed to attend the Telangana MPs’ meeting with the Telangana Ministers held at Deputy Chief Minister Damodara C Rajanarasimha’s residence at the Ministers’ Quarters here on Monday, though the former was present at his quarter during the meeting.

Besides Sridhar Babu, ten other ministers from the Telangana region have failed to attend the meeting, which decided to go to Delhi and prevail upon the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other Central leaders to expedite the process for formation of Telangana State.

Lt Gen K S Brar stabbed in London, to return to India on Tuesday

Retd Lt General K S Brar, who led Operation Bluestar against Sikh terrorists holed up inside the Golden Temple in 1984, was stabbed by four turbaned Sikhs outside his hotel in London on Sunday night, reports said.

The general, who is 78, was on a private visit to London and was staying in a hotel.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and was in stable condition.

According to Indian High Commission sources, several senior attaches went to the hospital and brought Lt Gen Brar back. The general will return to Delhi on Tuesday, sources said.
