Congress M.P’s representing Telangana Region alleged that the C.M. created hurdles in performing their constitutional duties and he got them arrested. They wrote a letter to
Ms. Meera Kumar pleading breach of privilege to them.

They urged the Congress Party cadre not to be afraid of the Congress leaders’ threats. After the meeting held at the residence of Mr. Madhu Goud Yashki, the letter was sent to the Speaker.

15 dead in Karachi violence

Fifteen people have died in violence in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi, the Dawn reported Sunday.

A clash between two rival gangs Saturday left seven people dead, including the gang leaders. Seven more were shot dead in different parts of Karachi. A bullet ridden body was also found. The businesses were closed after tensions gripped the city.

First phase of Imaran’s anti-drone rally peaceful

The first phase of an anti-drone rally in Pakistan organised by Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has ended peacefully.

Imran Khan, who is leading a convoy of hundreds of vehicles, has vowed to reach South Waziristan, where the rally would culminate, Xinhua reported.

Saturday’s peace rally kicked off from cities such as Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, amid Taliban threats to carry our suicide bomb attacks on the participants.

The Taliban has accused the Tehreek-e-Insaf party of being sympathizers of the Jews and the Christians.

CBI unable to question Army officer in disappearance case

The CBI is facing difficulty in questioning again an Army officer, who is a suspect in a case related to mysterious disappearance of a contractor from Ferozpur Cantonment in 2004.

Official sources said the CBI has questioned the Lieutenant Colonel in the past, but wanted to seek clarifications on some issues related to the case and has written several times since June but to no avail.

The agency has shot off a number of letters to senior army officers requesting them to spare him for questioning in the case but without any result, they said.

Two Garo militants killed in Assam

Two militants from the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) have been killed in a gun battle with a joint team of police and security forces in Assam, police said Sunday.

The incident took place in Jharpara in Goalpara district, around 110 km from here, Saturday night.

The two members of GNLA, a militant outfit based in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills region, were killed during a gun battle with a joint team of police and security forces, said Sushanta Biswa Sarma, Goalpara additional superintendent of police.

DLF clarifications ‘half truths and lies’: Arvind Kejriwal

Activist Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday described the clarifications of realty major DLF on his allegations that Robert Vadra was given property at throw away prices for government favours as “half truths and lies”.

“DLF has issued a response. It is full of half truths and lies. A lot of information has been suppressed,” he tweeted.

South Korea to build ballistic missiles

South Korea will build ballistic missiles to better respond to “perceived threats” from North Korea, the presidential office here said Sunday.

The missiles will have a range of up to 800 km, more than double the current limit, and capable of reaching targets anywhere in North Korea, Xinhua reported.

North Korea’s ballistic missiles have a range of 3,000 km and capable of striking the entire Korean peninsula as well as US military installations in Japan and Guam.

Kejriwal, others to burn power bills in Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal and other members of India Against Corruption (IAC) have threatened to burn electricity bills Sunday to protest hikes in power tariff in the national capital.

“People in 62 assemblies and 114 wards in Delhi are burning their electricity bills to protest against the steep hike in electricity tariff. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai and Kumar Vishwas would join people in some areas,” IAC said in a statement.

Kejriwal appealed to Delhiites to burn their power bills and show their protest.

He said Delhi would show the way in this “civil disobedience movement”.

Three cops held for beating woman to death

Four people, including three policemen, were arrested in Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday for allegedly beating a woman to death during a police search for contraband drugs, a police official said.

“Three policemen and the son-in-law of the woman have been arrested. Further probe will be done after the autopsy report,” the police official said.

People in Ahlaan Gadool village in the Kokarnag area of Anantnag on Friday staged a protest demonstration after the death of 65-year-old Mukhti.

Seafood exports drop by 30 percent

While for the first time in the history of marine product exports in the last fiscal, India’s export earnings had crossed $3.5 billion, this fiscal till the end of August, exports have dropped to the extend of 30 per cent.

Speaking to IANS, a top official of the industry said the primary reason is the recession in the US and Europe, the major export market for Indian seafood.

28 militants killed in Afghanistan

Twenty-eight Taliban militants were killed in overnight operations by the security forces in Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Sunday.

The police in collaboration with the army and the coalition forces killed the militants in over half a dozen provinces, Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.

Operations were carried out in Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Kunduz, Faryab, Wardak, Ghazni and Paktika provinces.

Thirteen militants were arrested and their weapons were seized.

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a PIL challenging a decision of the President to appoint Saryu V Doshi as one of the three members of a search committee, constituted to shortlist three names for heading Lalit Kala Akademi.

“… As the ultimate decision is left to the President of India, such a decision cannot be found fault with unless a nominee is not eligible to be nominated in the Search Committee,” Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw said.
