`Chain smoking triples the risk of brain haemorrhage`

Smoking more than 20 cigarettes a day almost triples the chances of suffering a potentially fatal brain haemorrhage, a new study has warned.

The study found that quitting reduces the danger but heavy smokers who give up tobacco are still twice as much at risk as people who have never smoked.

Korean researchers investigated 426 cases of subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) between 2002 and 2004, the `Daily Mail` reported.

Patients were compared with a group of 426 people and matched for age and sex who had never experienced a brain bleed.

Big B gets conscious when wife Jaya on the sets

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who will be seen with his wife Jaya Bachchan in Bhojpuri film `Ganga Devi`, says there is lot of restriction when your wife is on the sets and he gets conscious in her presence.

“When your wife is on the sets with you, then your behaviour also changes, there are lots of restrictions, there is always a discipline on the sets or else when you go back home, the situation goes out of control,” a laughing Amitabh told reporters during the music launch of the film here Friday.

“I hope you all will promote `Ganga Devi` and the audience likes it,” he added.

Nadiadwala replaces Kunder as ‘Kick’ director

Just a day after the release of his latest film “Joker”, Shirish Kunder announced Saturday that he is no longer on board as the director of Salman Khan-starrer “Kick”. The movie’s producer Sajid Nadiadwala will step behind the camera for it now.

“Sajid Nadiadwala will be directing ‘Kick’. He had originally envisioned the project and I feel he is the best person to bring it to life,” tweeted Kunder.

“Kick” is the Hindi remake of a 2009 Telugu film of the same name.

Aamir Khan brings smile to Jalpari director

Aamir Khan surely goes out of his way for causes that are close to his heart. The actor, busy with a shooting schedule in Chicago, made time to write to `Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid` director Nila Madhab Panda, expressing his desire to watch the movie on female foeticide.

Girl committed suicide after being sexually abused

(Siasat News)The death case of an SSC student two weeks back took a serious turn after forensic reports confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted before death.

Police initially suspected Kanakaraju to be the culprit since the girl received the last call from his cell hone but he committed suicide two days after appearing before the police by jumping into the local tank.

The case got a new turn when forensic report claim that the girl was sexually abused just few hours before her suicide.

Four women kidnapped from rescue home in Hyderabad

Unidentified men attacked a rescue home and kidnapped four trafficked women at Ramanthapur area here early Saturday, police said.

A group of eight men barged into ‘Ujjawala’ rescue home after breaking open the doors and took away four women after beating up the inmates and damaging the furniture.

The other inmates of the rescue home, run by the state government with the support of an NGO, told police that two of the women were from Kolkata, one Bangladeshi and another from Mumbai.

Three held for trying to kidnap a girl on University of Hyderabad campus

(Siasat News)The Cyberabad Police on Friday arrested three, who tried to kidnap an M.Tech student on the campus of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Thursday night.

The victim was returning to the hostel after the rehearsals for college function when the five mens entered campus and tried to pull her inside the car in which they were. Once she cried for help, the student on the campus rushed to help her, they caught three of the five culprits and also damaged the car.

Appeal to parents of EAMCET 2012 MPC students

Private Pharmacy Colleges Managements Association has informed that the list of a total of 32 D.Pharm colleges will be displayed shortly for the II phase of EAMCET counseling of MPC students. The PCI office New Delhi will send the list in the first week of September.

PCI has informed the government of Andhra Pradesh that counseling for only 100 seats will be carried out in each Pharmacy college as per PCI norms.

NRI held for demanding additional dowry

Around 6.5 million of the 117 million children and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean do not attend school, the regional office of Unicef said Friday.

Another 15.6 million youngsters currently in school may find themselves forced to drop out, according to the Unicef report, “Completing School: A Right to Grow, a Shared Duty”.

Kids who start school late and others placed in a grade lower than the appropriate one for their age are most at risk of not completing their education, the researchers found.

Impact of Siasat News: water supply begins from new water pipeline at Indiranagar, Tadbun

People of Indiranagar Tadbun had a reason to celebrate yesterday. With lack of water supply for the past one and a half years, the residents had tough time surviving without drinking water.

Following a report published in Siasat dated August 30, the local leaders, especially counselor immediately came into action and became active to resolve the problem. He directed the concerned department to begin supply of water through the new pipeline.

India’s famed badminton doubles exponent Jwala Gutta has decided to go on a sabbatical, telling her partner Ashwini Ponnappa to look out for a partner.

There is uncertainty over how long Jwala will be out from competitive badminton.

Jwala told IANS that it is indefinite, though she hopes to be back on court as early as in six months’ time.

Actress Esha Gupta, who is pitted against Bipasha Basu in ‘Raaz 3’, says Bipasha was a delight to work with and completely different from her on-screen avatar of a scheming superstar.

Bipasha plays an actress on decline, who resorts to black magic to destroy the rising star Sanjana, played by Gupta, in the film, releasing next week.

“I am only two films old in the industry but I have heard that senior actresses want to pull you down. The only experience of a senior actress I had was with Bipasha but she was lovely to work with in the film,” Gupta said in an interview.

BSF trooper hurt in Odisha mine blast

A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was injured Saturday in a land mine blast triggered by Maoists in Odisha’s Koraput district, police said.

The incident occurred in a forested area near Palur village, over 600 km from here, during a combing operation by the BSF.

“One BSF trooper has sustained minor injury. Others narrowly escaped the blast,” Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar told IANS.

Maoists are active in more than half of the state and Koraput district is considered their strong hold.
