At a time when talk of formation of a Federal Front is gaining ground, Congress on Thursday suggested that the idea was a flop, saying history has shown that such groupings formed for the sake of grabbing power never last.

Chicken Boti Kabab Recipe

Ingredients:
Chicken – 500 gms, boneless, cubed
Raw Papaya Paste – 1/2 tsp
Malt Vinegar – 1/8 cup
Butter – 1 tblsp
Salt as per taste

For the marinade:

Hung Curd – 100 gms, whisked
Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tblsp
Red Chilli Paste – 1 tblsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Oil – 5 to 6 tblsp
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. In a bowl combine the malt vinegar with papaya paste and salt.
2. Add the chicken cubes and mix well ensuring the chicken is coated well with the mixture.
3. Keep aside for 10 to 20 minutes.

Hate speech: Delhi court orders FIR against Raj Thackeray

A Delhi court on Thursday asked police to lodge an FIR against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for allegedly branding Bihar natives as infiltrators in Mumbai and threatening them to throw out of the state.

Metropolitan magistrate Neeraj Gaur’s order came on a complaint by advocate Prem Shankar Sharma who said Thackeray’s August 31 remarks, terming Bihar natives as infiltrators and threatening them to throw them out of Maharashtra, are provocative and anti-national, for which an FIR must be lodged against him.

India to ask UN members to ensure zero tolerance for terror

India will urge all UN member states to ensure zero tolerance towards terrorism and take “urgent action” to prevent and combat it in all its forms and manifestations.

India will also work towards an early adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism during the current 67th UN General Assembly session, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said at a media briefing here Wednesday.

“We will continue to stress the need for a proactive campaign against terrorism and will work towards an early adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism,” he said.

AC train fares to increase by more than 3% from October 1

With the exit of Trinamool Congress from UPA, finance ministry has decided to levy service tax on AC rail travel and freight services fares, which are set to increase by 3.7% from October 1.

Fares of AC first class, executive class, AC-2 tier, AC-3 tier, AC chair car will go up by 3.7% from October 1 and a notification to this effect will be issued on Thursday, a senior railway ministry official said.

President Pranab Mukherjee Thursday reacted strongly to the anti-Islam video that has attracted widespread condemnation in Islamic countries for its depiction of the Prophet of Islam in poor light.

Reacting to a media query about the anti-Islam video, Pranab Mukherjee said: “I condemn in the strongest of terms, the making of the offensive video and its dissemination through social media.

NRI doctors to set up medical institute near Madurai

A group of non-resident doctors are coming up with a Rs 300-crore rural institute of medical sciences at Tirumangalam, about 30km from here.

The first phase of the institute, a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital, would come by December next year and a medical college would start functioning from August, 2014, P Madhu, coordinator of the project, told reporters here today.

SC: Auction not the only method for allocating natural resources

The Supreme Court Thursday said the auction route was not the only method for allocating natural resources. The court said this while answering a presidential reference seeking its opinion on whether auction was the only method for allocating natural resources across the board.

The five-judge apex court bench headed by Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia said auction could be a better option where the aim is maximisation of revenue, but then “every method other than auction of natural resources cannot be shut down”.

President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday condemned the offensive video on Islam made in the US and its dissemination through social media. “I condemn in the strongest of terms the making of the offensive video and its dissemination through social media. India can never condone any act which disparages religious sentiments or hurts religious feelings,” he said.

The President was reacting to a media query and to local sentiments which also found expression through advertisements in local newspapers in which he was urged to denounce the film.

Man asked to pay Rs 1,500 to estranged wife, daughter

A man has been asked by a Delhi court to pay Rs 1,500 a month as maintenance to his estranged wife and daughter, living separately from him since 2004.

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Ekta Gauba also asked the man, a tailor, to pay Rs 8,000 as litigation cost to his estranged wife who had sought maintenance saying she had been thrown out of her matrimonial house by her husband and in-laws in August 2004 when she was pregnant.
