Actress Mallika Sherawat, who is known for her bold roles, has refused to comment on her alleged link up with Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas while saying that she would not get married ever in life.

“I don`t think I will ever get married. I say so because I feel it is outdated, marriage is outdated. I am loving being single. Why would I sacrifice the love and devotion of so many fans,” Mallika told PTI.

“I have never really thought of what kind of a man I am looking for. I am busy right now doing films here and abroad, travelling and enjoying life,” she said.

Obaid and Akram’s police custody extended for 2 days

The Bangalore local court extended by another 2 days the police custody of Abdur Rahman and Mohammed Akram who were arrested from Hyderabad and Nanded respectively for their alleged links with Bangalore terror module.

Obaid, Akram and others were produced before local court of Bangalore amid tight security. The city crime branch of Bangalore police soon after producing the youth before court sought extension of Obaid and Akram’s police custody for two days. Though the advocates of the youth opposed this sudden action by the police but the court directed extension in police custody.

Scientists claimed to have developed a simple blood test that can accurately detect the beginning stages of breast and lung cancer in just an hour.

Researchers from the Kansas State University developed the test that can detect cancer even before symptoms like coughing and weight loss start.

The test works by detecting increased enzyme activity in the body. Iron nanoparticles coated with amino acids and a dye are introduced to small amounts of blood or urine from a patient.

Five die in China gold mine fire

Five people were killed when a fire broke out at a gold mine pit in northwest China’s Shaanxi province, authorities said Friday.

The accident occurred Thursday as welding sparks ignited the fire on wooden scaffoldings at the mine run by Xinglong Mining Co. in Tongguan county, reported Xinhua.

Six miners trapped underground by heavy smoke were pulled out by Friday morning. Four of them died.

One rescuer was killed by carbon monoxide poisoning during the rescue operation.

A simple voice test to detect Parkinson`s

Researchers claimed to have detected Parkinson`s disease with 99 per cent accuracy through simple voice recordings.

A team from Massachusetts Institute of Technology has developed a computer programme that is able to recognise the tremors, breathiness and weakness in the voice, which are thought to be early indicators of the condition.

The voice analysis software can even provide an unprecedented level of detail that can distinguish how far along a patient is with the disease.

Women are more than twice as likely as men to suffer from urinary tract infections (UTI) caused by kidney stones, says a new finding.

Henry Ford Hospital researchers also found significantly higher rates of complications following one of two treatments for the effects of urolithiasis, or stones in the kidneys and urinary tract, based on preliminary studies.

Pakistan braces for anti-Islam film protests

Pakistan Friday braced for anti-Islam film protests as the US military chief, General Martin Dempsey, postponed his planned visit to Pakistan over demonstrations against the movie.

General Dempsey was scheduled to meet Pakistani army chief General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani this week, reported Xinhua citing media reports.

The visit of the US general was postponed at a time when rallies are planned across Pakistan, including capital Islamabad, after Friday prayers against the anti-Islam film.

BJP approves two consecutive terms for party chief

The BJP national council Friday approved an amendment to the party’s constitution to allow a second consecutive term for its president. Hitherto, a BJP president could only serve a single three-year term.

The amendment to Section 21 of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s constitution says that any eligible member can hold the post of the president for two consecutive terms of three years each.

However, former BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu, who moved the amendment, clarified that this does not mean that the term of any president will automatically be extended for a second time.

U.S. court orders imprisonment for anti-Islam filmmaker

(Siasat News)Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the California man behind a controversial anti-Islam film which sparked a wave of violent protests, was taken into federal custody on suspicion of violating terms of his probation.

After 2010 conviction, Nakoula was sentenced to 21 months in prison and was barred from using Internet for five years without an approval from his probation officer.

His 14—minute trailer for the film “Innocence of Muslims” was posted on You Tube in July, leading to protests around the world killing dozens.

COMMENTARY: The value of health is only realized when one falls ill. Take for example, relieving oneself. If a person is unable to use the bathroom for a day, what happens to this person? His whole life comes to an immediate halt and he looks for ways to relieve him. This one bounty of Allah we enjoy day in and day out but we do not even regard it to be a bounty.

Govt to bring 348 essential drugs under price control

In a milestone decision, the Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, on Thursday, gave its approval to the final pharma pricing policy, which will bring 348 essential drugs under the government’s price control regime.

Padmavati, chief consultant in cardiology at National Heart Institute, said: “There is no routine, no fixed hours.. it is a very demanding field… so not many women choose to become cardiologists.

“But things are changing now, many women are coming forward as heart specialists,” Padmavati told IANS in an interview.

I heard people screaming: Aircrash eyewitness

Some passengers in the aircraft that crashed near the international airport here Friday were heard “wailing and screaming”, said an eyewitness who recalled the horror.

Tulasa Pokharel, an eyewitness whose house is located barely meters away from the crash site, said she saw the plane with black smoke landing on an open space on the bank of Manohara river, reported myrepublica.com.

Anti-Islam film protest: US military chief cancels Pak visit

Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey has cancelled his trip to Islamabad, where he was to hold a private meeting with Pakistani counterpart General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, due to continued wave of anti-US protests.

“I originally planned to go to Pakistan to meet with General Kayani, and because of some of the issues related to that film, he and I discussed postponing that visit, mostly so that I would give him the time to deal with the issues he was dealing with internally,” Dempsey told the media.

Corruption in Russia up by 30 percent

The number of corruption-related crimes in Russia has risen by almost one-third during the first six months of 2012, year-on-year, according to Investigative Committee (IC) spokesperson Vladimir Markin.

“During the first half of 2012, IC investigators handled 15,800 cases on corruption-related crimes, which is more than 5,000 than in the same period last year (10,400),” Markin said, citing Committee head Alexander Bastrykin.

In a release, the SCR here today said Train No GSH-1 Secunderabad-Hyderabad MMTS Special will depart Secunderabad at 2330 hrs and arrive Hyderabad at 0005 hrs. Train No GHL-2 Hyderabad-Lingampalli MMTS Special will depart Hyderabad at 0030 hrs and arrive Lingampalli at 0120 hrs.
