Gopal Kanda admitted to Tihar hospital

Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who was admitted to jail hospital Thursday for high blood pressure, is stable but still hospitalised, police said.

Kanda’s condition is now stable but he is still hospitalised and doctors are monitoring his health, said Tihar Jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta.

“On Kanda’s complaint of a pain in his chest, he was shifted to jail hospital on doctors’ advice where his blood pressure was noticed to be high,” said Gupta.

The former Haryana minister is accused of abetting suicide of 23-year-old former air hostess Geetika Sharma.

DRDO staffer arrested for terror link

(Siasat News)DRDO employee and a journalist among 11 men arrested by Karnataka Police for alleged links with global terror outfits.

During investigation they told the group had plans to assassinate MPs and MLAs from the state, a businessman and two journalists from Bangalore.

Police said all had links with international terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Jihadal-Islami.

One of the arrests is Ejaz Mohammed Mirza who works for Airborne Early Warning and Control System, a DRDO division

DVD on Hajj information

Govt.’s criticism on Wakf Board condemned by INSAF organization

(Siasat News) INSAF Organization has condemned the Govt. of A.P for issuing a circular expressing suspicion on the style of functioning of the Chairman of A.P. State Wakf Board.

This controversial circular was issued by the Department of Minorities Welfare, Govt. of A.P.

Dr. Junaid Zakir is elected President of MANUUTA

(Siasat News) Dr. Mohammed Junaid Zakir, Assistant Professor of the Department of Translation of Urdu University was elected President of Maulana Azad National Urdu University Teachers’ Association for the second time.

He was elected president last year also. He has an excellent record of making bold and frank representations to University authorities on various issues relating to the teachers. On his representation, University authorities issued a corrigendum making knowledge of Urdu compulsory for the teaching posts advertised by the University.

Tibbi college, Hyderabad and Dr. Abdul Haque Unani Medical college, Kurnool was conducted yesterday by NTR University of Health Sciences at Vijayawada. A senior police officer and a crucial witness in Aarushi-Hemraj murder case on Thursday deposed before a special CBI court here that he faced pressure to suppress the rape angle in the postmortem of the teenager.

Former Noida Superintendent of Police K K Gautam, during chief examination told the court that chairman of Noida Eye Hospital Sushil Chaudhry, a friend of slain teenager Aarushi’s uncle Dinesh Talwar, had called him and requested him to hide the rape angle in the postmortem.

Reimburse full fees of B.C’s – TDP represents

Russia plans two space laboratories by 2016

Russia is planning to launch two space laboratories within the next four years, according to a space company.

An x-ray observatory, Spektr-RG, will be launched in 2013, said the Central Scientific Research Institute of Machine Manufacturing.

It will study the large scale structure of the universe and super-massive black holes, among other things.

Spektr-UF, a UV space observatory, to be launched in 2016, will be an international project with Russian, Spanish, German and Ukrainian participants.

Woman killed as lightning strikes UP village

A woman was killed and 12 injured when lightning struck in Mirzapur district late Thursday, police said.

The incident happened at Veerpur village in Mirzapur district, about 290 km from here, when lightning struck during a torrential downpour, instantly killing 40-year-old Bhanwari Devi.

Over a dozen people, including two teenagers, were also severely burnt.

District officials transported the injured to nearby medical facilities.

Lightning also struck villagers in Kotar and Bhawari villages.

Chief Minister has given the go-ahead to the Web-based counseling.

The Pentagon has warned to take legal action against a former Navy SEAL who has written a first-person account of the May 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, saying that he has violated his signed agreement not to divulge classified information.

The book – ‘No Easy Day’ – is due to be released September 4. The excerpts of the book released in the Western press have already created controversy in the US on the operation that killed bin Laden.

AP Govt announce 40 lakh houses for poor – How many for Minorities?

The Congress government in Andhra Pradesh which has embarked upon a plan to make the state hut-free has completed construction of 40.32 lakh houses under various schemes meant for the poor over the last eight years, state housing minister said today.

“The government is moving ahead with the aim of making the state hut-free. We have so far completed 40.32 lakh houses under different schemes while 10.87 lakh houses are under different stages of construction at present,” Housing Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy told reporters here.

Former Union minister Kashiram Rana passes away

Former Union minister and dissident BJP leader Kashiram Rana, who recently joined Keshubhai Patel’s Gujarat Parivartan Party, passed away early Friday morning, party sources said. He was 76.

Rana complained of chest pain early morning when he was in the circuit house of the city.

He was rushed to Jiveraj Mehta hospital where he died.

Rana was a textile minister in the A B Vajpayee government.

However, the MP from Surat was sidelined after Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

3 cases of swine flu detected in MP d

Three persons, including a woman, have tested positive for H1N1 influenza virus and admitted in two private hospitals in the city, an official said.

While two youths admitted in a hospital here are from Ratlam and Ujjain, a 48-year-old woman is from Dhar district, Chief Medical officer Ashok Dangariya told PTI.

While the two youths were undergoing treatment in CHL Apollo Hospital, the woman had been admitted in Suyash Hospital, he added.

Guj HC rejects PIL seeking equal marriageable age limit

The Gujarat High Court today rejected a plea seeking a direction to keep marriageable age limit for boys and girls equal stating that it could not interfere in the domain of legislation.

The division bench of Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice J B Pardiwala dismissed the Public Interest Litigation filed by one Nathalal Chitroda who had challenged the legal provision that allowed a girl to marry at the age of 18 but a boy could marry only at the age of 21.

Iran doubles capacity at nuclear site : Report

Iran has doubled its capacity in an underground uranium enrichment facility, according to a new International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report.

According to this report, the number of centrifuges at the Fordow facility, about 130 km from Tehran, had more than doubled to around 2,000 from around 1,000 in May, said Xinhua citing local media Thursday.

It also showed that Iran had produced nearly 190 kg of higher-grade enriched uranium since 2010, up from 145 kg in May.
