MP loses temper, chides reporters

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal, who was embroiled in the controversy relating to construction of flyover near Kanakadurga Temple on NH 9, lost temper and shouted at mediapersons during a press conference in the presence of Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathi, here today. After being asked several questions on the construction of the flyover, the Congress MP lost temper and chided reporters, saying they were not understanding what he was trying to say.

YSRC criticises CBI JD

YSR Congress Party today alleged that the CBI Joint Director had crossed his limits by becoming party to a larger conspiracy against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and has misused his powers by speaking to a judge and adversaries of Sakshi media group. Talking to news persons here, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said ‘An investigation officer was not supposed to speak to a judge who is hearing the case. The Joint Director took an active part in leaking inside information to a section of media. He went against the CBI manual on both counts’, he charged.

Nurse’s body found in rest room

The body of a staff nurse was found in the toilet in the nurse’s rest room adjacent to the Operation theatre of a private hospital at Angalmali, near here, today. The deceased, identified as Nimmy Paul (22) of Varekulam, Chengal near Kalady, was on duty in the operation theatre, police said.

She was found missing since 0230 hours and the search by her colleagues to trace her failed.

Later, they noticed that the door of the toilet was locked from inside. When the door was broken open, the nurses’ body was found.

Police harassing YSRC cadre: Bajireddy

YSR Congress Party today demanded stern action against police officials responsible for severely beating up party activists belonging to Ibrahimpatnam and sending them to jail on false charges. Nine party activists were picked up on May 27 night when YSRC Chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was arrested and were severely beaten up before being sent to Cheralapalli Jail, Party Spokesman Bajireddy Goverdhan alleged adding no official note was issued about any such arrest.

PVR Malls owner remanded

The Criminal Court in Nampally today remanded PVR Malls Owner Gowri Shankar Gupta,who allegedly duped the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority(HMDA) in the name of realty major DLF, to judicial custody till July 12. The court remanded Gupta after the City Crime Station (CCS) Police produced him in the court. Earlier, the court refused permission to the police to send Gupta to judicial remand as he was brought in an ‘unconscious’ state to the court.

Court adjourns Prasad’s bail petition to Jul 4

The Principal Special CBI Court here today adjourned to July 4 the hearing on the bail petition filed by Industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad who was arrested in connection with the YSR Congress Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Disproportionate Assets Case. Judge U Durga Prasada Rao, while posting the hearing to July four, directed the investigating agency to file its counter before the date. CISF fires in AIR, fishermen and VRO injured in cane charge

Tension prevailed at the Simhadri Power unit of the NTPC located at Parvadaq in Visakhapatnam district when CISF forces fired six rounds in the AIR to desperse the agitating fishermen community who staged dharna in front of NTPC demanding compensation, today.

Kasab shocked to hear about Jundal’s arrest

Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving Pakistani perpetrator of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, received the news of arrest of his Hindi teacher and LeT operative Abu Jundal with shock.

“When was Jundal nabbed?… Was he alone? Was he accompanied by anybody when he was arrested?” Kasab, lodged in
an bomb-proof cell in the Arthur Road Jail made several queries about Jundal after the news was broken to him, prison
sources said today.

Kasab, who does not have access to newspapers, also made persistent queries about whether he would be brought to Mumbai and kept in the same jail.

Software engineer held for stealing high definition cameras

A 29-year-old software engineer wanted to open his own event management firm but landed in police net here when he and his accomplice allegedly resorted to stealing high definition cameras for their venture.

Rajesh Kumar, the software engineer, and his friend Abhishek (28) were apprehended from Minto Road during a checking, police said.

“They were in a car and looked suspicious. Four bags were also found lying near the rear seat. It was found that the
bags contained four HD video cameras for which they could not give any justifiable explanation.

“I don’t think Bollywood completely dictates fashion trends for the youth. It influences it to some extent, since we are a film driven country. At some point it used to as the common people didn’t have access to the world fashion, so films and film stars were a big influence on what people wanted to look like,” Roy told IANS.

Not invited to dinner, man kills neighbour

A man killed his neighbour in Uttar Pradesh early Thursday for not inviting him to a dinner party, police said.

Salim was killed by his neighbour Nizamuddin with a brick in Bhimnagar district, 470 km from here, police said.

Nizamuddin hit Salim with the brick until he collapsed, Superintendent of Police Tehsildar Singh told IANS. The accused is now on the run.

The assailant was angry that while all neighbours were invited by Salim to the dinner Wednesday, he did not get an invitation.

Salim had organised the dinner at his home on occasion of completion of a religious ritual.

11 IAS officers shuffled in AP

Ending days of uncertainty and seeking to put the administration back on track, the Andhra Pradesh government initiated the process of bureaucratic transfers shifting 11 Indian Administrative Service officers, including Collectors of four districts, in the first round today.

Three IAS officers, who are on wait, have been given new postings while three others transferred out from their current posts today have not been given any new postings in the reshuffle. Importantly, several key posts lying vacant for the past few months, affecting the administration, have been filled up now.

Lagtapati cheated bank : YSRC LEADER

YSR Congress Party leader and advocate Gautham Reddy here on Thursday alleged that Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal had cheated the Bank to the tune of Rs 3,000 crores.

Speaking to mediapersons at Somajiguda Press Club here, Gautham Reddy said that Lagadapati procured several hundred crores of rupees from the people in the country and bought “Grifin” a losing coal company in Australia. Later, Rajagopal had taken Rs 3,000-crore loan from Bank by mortgaging Grifin company documents.
